  • Just call Fleet Equipment’s Jason Morgan the Comeback Kid! When we last saw him, he was frustrated and despondent - and on the verge of giving up in his quest to obtain a Class A CDL. But he dug deep, redoubled his efforts, and passed his driving test with flying colors. And now, finally, it’s game on as he prepares to go head-to head with the I-Torque king Joel Morrow.

Congratulations Jason on sticking at it and passing your test first time🎉. A great achievement👍.
The day you pass your test is the day you start to learn to drive and deal with situations much more stressful than the situation you found yourself in a few weeks back.

I’ve driven an automatic Volvo, it’s comfortable but I prefer my standard transmission peterbilt.

They are not automatic. They are automated manual
gearboxes. There is a huge difference.
I believe everyone should learn and pass their test in a manual.
If you can not change gears using a clutch, block shifting and operating range change and splitter gears up and down the gearbox, or reverse you should not be behind the wheel of a truck.
Whilst automated gearboxes have given the driver an advantage to concentrate on the surroundings, road ahead and behind the trailer it has allowed a lower skilled person to enter the market.
Safety has been compromised in my opinion.
You should move onto an automated truck after 100,000 miles minimum in a manual. Long term, everyone would benefit then.
