Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) was only a teenaged stunt biker when he sold his soul to the devil (Peter Fonda). Years later, Johnny is a world renowned daredevil by day, but at night, he becomes the Ghost Rider of Marvel Comics legend. The devil's bounty hunter, he is charged with finding evil souls on earth and bringing them to hell. But when a twist of fate brings Johnny's long-lost love (Eva Mendes) back into his life, Johnny realizes he just might have a second chance at happiness - if he can beat the devil and win back his soul. To do so he'll have to defeat Blackheart (Wes Bentley), the devil's nemesis and wayward son, whose plot to take over his father's realm will bring hell on earth--unless Ghost Rider can stop him.
Peter Fonda is killing it is this roll.
Seriously, he was the perfect Mephisto. All he needed was a dark red uniform instead of black and, boom, instant Mephisto.
If imma be honest *THIS MOVIE* was what not only introduced me to Ghost Rider, but also Nicholas Cage. Nicholas Cage in a leather jacket and a motorcycle was badass as hell. He aint a bad actor but not my most favorite.
watch leaving las vegas the film he won oscar for
You never seen con air?
@@hiredlunacy4821 like I said this introduced me to Nick and he just ain’t like my favorite
@@hiredlunacy4821 so nope
How dare you...
This is what makes Johnny Blaze a worthy ghost rider, while many others are willing to trade their souls for power or money Johnny did it out of love.
Peter Fonda Played As The Devil So Good In This Movie
He did, so much better than Ciaran Hinds. If Peter fonda was the devil and came to me like this I would be far to terrified to move or breathe but if Ciaran hinds came to me like mephisto out of the sequel I would probably throw fruit at him.
No clue why they didn’t have Fonda reprise his role in the sequel. And he wanted to. The sequel sucks compared to this. Had Fonda played his role again, it may have had a chance
Did you know Peter Fonda was in Thomas and the Magic Railroad in 2000, He played Burnett Stone.
@@inegozamora168 Wow had no idea
Not really the same, the term devil means "the enemy" & as an actual terms the "devils" actual name is Lucifer, a different prince of hell, this is Mephistopheles, also another different demon lord of hell or "Mephisto" is the one whom made the deal 🤝 with Johnny blaze 🔥 & turned him into the riding spirit of vengeance: The Ghost Rider 💀🔥, by fusing Johnny's own soul with one of Mephistopheles's own enemies whom had fallen under the might of the demon lord whom is known as Mephistopheles "Mephisto".
fun fact: according to folklore, if you want to make a deal with a demon you have to meet them at a crossroads
Where would those be?

Funny coincidence right
I like how they used the symbolism of the crossroads at the end.
I remember Supernatural they used crossroads too

Maybe because that happens a lot there so ppl don't give a fuck anymore
Dude just checked his pulse and walked off 😂😂😂
Isn’t people dying too early an everyday thing in 'murica?
0:07 what a badass guitar riff
I like how they hide what they really do in plain sight. The best disguise is none at all.
yes, this happens from time to time in real life
Its a movie. The devil is a fantasy character.

Johnny really needed Sam and Dean to help him.
Remember the scene when Roxanne said to Johnny her father was going to send her to live with her mother?
In the comics, Roxanne's father takes Johnny as his son. That was when Johnny sells his soul, but Mr. Crash Simpson still suffers a similar fate as Barton Blaze did.
Too bad we didn't get to see that scene, even though it was the coolest movie. At least in my opinion.
Notice how he took his soul at the crossroads...
I tought he just burned his „human emotions“
More like met him at the cross road because he already had his soul as soon as he signed the contract.
What the Devil always offers as good, you will always get bad in return….
That’s what’s so scary about because as humans with the exception of CHRIST can’t turn it down. The reason why is we carry sin and that makes us week for the simple fact we crave things on this earth both living and non living things.
5:05 All these years later I've just noticed there's a light of a flame showing on his index, you can even kind of hear the spark. It's just interesting since it's before Mephisto actually instills the power inside Johnny.
Wtf🧐cool little easter egg
That is the reflection of the sun/ some source of light
Peter Fonda as Mephisto is the best 👌🏽
I named my first born son after this scene. "Blaze" This is one of my favorite movies ever. Such a strong scene..
Peter Fonda as Mephisto is damn perfect, it's as if they took Mephisto straight out of the comics. All he needed was a crimson trenchcoat instead of black.
I know I'm the minority here but I always thought this younger actor should have just played him for the whole movie.
That's because we don't really like Nicholas cage but we do like Nicholas cage ghost rider. I think this young actor would have killed it in thr 2nd movie. With all the action
@@leandroagonzalez3 I like Nicolas cage a badass
@@leandroagonzalez3 we ? He‘s being liked by many
I agree with you and always have felt the same since the first time i watched the movie as a child.
Dude facts.
Love this man ...Peter Fonda for his best performance in this movie ❤
0:07, The subtle guitar riffs when devil walks in the movie is just amazing.
Johnny didn't agree to sign the contract he was interested greatly to save his father but once the devil named his price then became quite disinterested. The devil cut his blood and got his signature that way without Johnny agreeing to the terms of the contract
I dont think your about to argue contract law with the devil lol
Let's not forget that the Devil is a swindler and will use loopholes to get what he wants. In this scene, it was Johnny Blaze's soul, even if Johnny did not "Technically" agree to the terms of the contract, his blood was equally binding him to the contract.
I think you have a good case on your hands. Good luck in court …break a leg👍🏾
Devil's trick: The next day the dad gets a brain tumor
@@brodycoffman4366ask Ned Flanders
No one is perfect. all of us makes mistakes,we're only humans.
johnny blaze was like nothing when he just see the devil and saying yea? lol in midnight and there is nobody in the concert
Devil: Johnny blaze
Johnny blaze: yea?
well he doesnt know that he is a devil. maybe another fans or promoter trying to approach him
And that's, good people, the reason why you should understand the difference between what you're asking for and what you truly want.
Peter Fonda found a part where he didn't have to act.
I wonder, what would a father do or think knowing his son sold his soul to the devil on his behalf?
Go to hell and back to save his son's soul.
Perfect health for the rest of his life.
"Not my problem if rest of his life comprises of a few hours"
The Devil really pulled a fast one. Not only did he trick him into sign by stabbing his finger and then letting a drop of blood fall on it. He also made his fater healthy and then cause him to die the next day.
@@drakZesyea he technically kept his end of the bargain.
His father was not meant to live beyond that point of time, so this plot actually described the deal with the devil perfectly.
He kept his end of the bargain.

Fair deal i guess
@@haroldinodeleonskie1578not really😂
I like how the contract paper scroll had a barb and took Johnny's blood as signature. Nice touch. Talk about a blood oath.
The actor playing Barton Blaze also played Thomas Wayne in The Joker. So he was a father in both Marvel and DC films.
Named of show
Matthew Clayton Long
He's the guy from Manifest, a pretty good actor today. Possibly a bit too stiff for Ghost Rider though.
He's good with subtle movement and subtle emotions.
He looks like ben tennyson
The Devil: Perhaps, you’d like for me one day.
Me: Foreshadowing!
More like he got tricked, man read the paper got cut and his blood hit.
It must’ve been a while since I had originally seen this movie, cause I didn’t realize until just recently that’s Matt Long playing the young Johnny Blaze. For me he’s been Zeke on Manifest the past several years 😜
He would have made a great ben tennyson in live action.
Anyone notices how when the Devil takes his soul they are LITERALLY at a crossroads.
Nobody did. We're blind.
@@JohnDoe-yr3lm stop being a smartass if you don’t get my reference to demonology. Just stop and shut up.

damn he really sold his soul to joe biden.
I'm dead not Biden 😂😂😂😂😂 this is such a underated comment ❤
Nahh😹😹
Put some respect on Peter Fonda's name
that's a good one 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Plot twist: It was Burnett Stone after he lost Lady to Diesel 10.
Because Peter Fonda was also in Thomas and the Magic Railroad
that devil cheat he was yet still reading the contract and not trying sign anything.
Don't be that guy. The devil doesn't give seven shades of shit about contract law
I'm shocked. The devil has never been known to cheat until this moment.
The thing is the devil told him that his eternal soul was what Johnny was going to give to him in exchange for his dad's health, yet Johnny chose to take the contract from him anyway to read it. He should have said no thanks, but agreed to sign it the moment he took it into his hands.
No one could ever replace Peter Fonda as Mephisto
If David Carradine was alive (Bill from Kill Bill)
He would be a worthy candidate to be Mephistopheles.
Mephistopheles: You! Worst fucking deal I ever made!
Lmfao he sold his soul to Palpatine
First movie : tried to punch him and goes right through him
Spirit of vengeance : actually lands a punch on him
"Wanna ride for me?"
"Nah"
"I'll fix your dad."
"I'LL DO ANYTHING! JUST NAME IT!"
He didnt willingly sign it though. He cut himself by accident
No he did not cut himself accidentally. Mephisto tricked him. You can see that he looked at the finger of Johnny, he used his powers to forcefully make Johnny cut his finger and drop the blood at the right spot. He didn't give Johnny the time to read the whole letter. He cheated.
@@sadmankhan9630 exactly so shouldn't that mean that he shouldn't be owned by the devil since the devil cheated

The Devil always collects his due.
The devil could have simply welched after getting the pact signed but no he held up his end of the bargain. He cured Johhny's father." After all a deal is a deal"
how the hell does he do the hat trick at 3:07 ?
He just did it three goals in one match
I never known Mephisto was in this movie 🤯
His dad dying was the world balancing itself out because think about it. His dad wasn’t pose to make it past the point he was at before he got healed.
Lol that shadow of satan looked like an imp
This movie helped my parents teach me “the devil is in the details” he said he would take Johnny’s father’s cancer never said he’d prevent some other “act of god”.
Love it 🥰

I know it's just a movie but I'd sell my soul for my loved ones too
You’d sell your soul to the devil for his word? That’s dumb as hell😂 you see what happened to Johnny. That bitch lied to him without actually lying. Said he would cure him and he did but killed him anyway
And at least you wouldn’t sell your soul for selfish reasons like all these celebrities
