As a Subaru fan: This is my 1st SUV Zack.
This would probably get better fuel economy with a naturally-aspirated 6 cylinder. The turbo 4 really has to work to move all that weight. If you really get on the gas the CVT will fake gear shifts which defeats the purpose of having a CVT. Just put a 10-speed in, Subaru.
This car has 19 chances to pass the BFB test. That's almost 2.4 chances per seat.
Subaru's Premium trim is the sweet spot. A little more features than base to make it easier to live with but nothing unnecessary. The Limited and Touring are full of unnecessary stuff. I like Subaru's styling. It doesn't try to be sporty or sleek, instead it's practical and capable.
I agree the CVT needs to go!
@Brian Lee no ? Well why on earth not ? They are lifeless and un natural feeling transmissions. They make sense in hybrid vehicles but thats just about it. Notice that alot of modern CVTS mimic gears ? Thats literally a thing because people complained when they didn't, people wanna feel the car shift as they always have. So why imitate when you can just have the real thing ? Dual clutch transmissions are the way to go, CVTS are terrible.

I look at it like this. If normal automatics had improved as fast as CVT transmissions have, well, there would be no CVT needed.
Aisin 8 speed and zf 8 speed are far quicker and superior compared to cvt.
Does 2023 Ascent Premium comes with remote start and towing package?

are the cloth seats as comfy as the 90s subarus though? I love my 97 outback seats.
I haven't been in a 90s Subaru but my 2022 Outback cloth seats are quite comfortable. No problem driving 6+ hours.
I'd say the older stuff is comfier but this isn't bad!

You're wrong about family and minivans. If you buy a minivan, you'll end up buying an SUV years down the line. Subaru quality is excellent, and it will last a long time.
This will save you a ton of money.
Minivans apparently get better fuel economy and handle better than SUVs, I've heard, when you consider how much more space that they have. The Subaru 3rd row definitely doesn't seem practical
2022 Subaru ascent = 22 mpg , 2023 Toyota Sienna AWD = 35 MPG. I'm surprised how good the Sienna's mpg is.
Oh, hybrid system explains why Toyota Sienna is so fuel efficient. But it's not like your have to plug it in since it recharges the battery with the brakes and engine. The Honda Odyssey gets identical fuel econ but it doesn't have AWD.

What are the major factors to buy Pilot over Ascent ? Mpg , cargo space , towing options or something else?
@@alvidasgladstein7830 definately price tag, you get great value for your dollar. MPG is ok, 19 mixed driving. Also 8 passenger seats is nice for family hauls
I REALLY wish subaru would get away from the CVT.. it just doesn't fit the character of their otherwise great vehicles!

With that poor attack&departure angles, this subaru won t take you a lot further than your regular fwd city car. Suv s nowadays are stupid and useless
That's my genuine issue with crossovers. They don't have much truck capabilities (ie towing) nor do they have any offroading capabilities. They are quite literally minivans for mothers who don't want the image of a minivan. In my honest opinion, get a truck based SUV (4Runner, Sequoia, old Pathfinders before 2013, Suburbans, old TrailBlazers, etc) or get a minivan.
