An icon, just as is the Checker cab for an earlier generation. Yours is especially rare in that it’s exactly as removed from service, not just painted that way for the movie industry, for example. I’m glad at what you’ve done.
3:42 He's right, it's been 8 years since this video was uploaded and you don't see many panther platform cars roaming around. Best car decision I made was getting a Grand Marquis, if I had to replace her I'd get a cheap Crown Vic (don't really need the extras of the Grand Marquis/Town Car). Panther platform cars are just solid runners all around.
Hi good sir, It really makes me really happy to see this video. Makes me feel like I do exist although with a broken goal of my life and a pile of unaccomplishments I wake up everyday and keep struggling and striving in NYC hoping to see some better days someday.
Why in Britain they have a modern version of their classic black cab, with classic body style, but nobody do the same in US. Crown Vic is beautiful classic sedan.
I own a retired cab which was a retired cop car as well, i like the paint and I like the fact people think its a cab so I get free money for cheap rides on the go.
Historic...they are all going out of business because of rideshare's,like UBER,and Lyft...getting more rare by the week..soon there will be none,or very few..keep it..
No that's not why... there's a rule to replace nyc taxis every 7 years... thanks to stupid NYC for not being smart... would be nice if they kept cars on the road for 20 years
Retired taxicabs transmissions tend to go out due to the many miles of stopping and going which is hard on the auto transmission, the crown victoria is more of a highway car.
Longer car, I just found out: www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3320185 More legroom for passengers. Wasn’t an option for non fleet buyers unfortunately.
Thank you very much for taking care of one. There are many nyc taxi crown vic lovers out there that are sad to see most of them gone
Simple answer it is a classic, it is part of History.
It's interesting to drive it so far from its native environment. Still has the cheap mint trees.
This car will be worth so much money in 10 or 20 years. A true collectible
Most P70s went to NYC and most are now gone. Long wheel base Vics especially in NYC taxi paint scheme is almost none existent now. Nice save.
one for sale on ebay kleinanzeigen atm 😩 💶 no dinero 🤷♂️
That's the special long wheelbase version I can tell by the back door!! Really cool!!
This guy is a legend

Well there was MV-1 but NY chosen a Nissan NV200...
@@Tomek1985 yeah, mv 1 kinda fits the color scheme 😀
How do you get your hands on an old nyc cab? Is there a scrapyard specifically for them or do you need to have a friend who's a driver, etc?

Aspie Otaku nice
That's illegal... you need a taxi license do stuff like that I think...
Still have it?
Historic...they are all going out of business because of rideshare's,like UBER,and Lyft...getting more rare by the week..soon there will be none,or very few..keep it..
Uber is not ride share, it's a corporate taxi. It's only rideshare if both the driver and passenger are independently going to the same place.
arthur green uber and Lyft has nothing to do with yellow cabs retiring the vics.

Stretched crown Vic? I didn’t know they were stretched
Longer car, I just found out: www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3320185

@@andyk192 I realized 2 years ago kick rocks Andy Kim
I might be buying one tomorrow it's a bright ugly green though. Getting it painted asap.
👍
P70
How does it still have a medallion?...its worth a million now
It's just a piece of metal if it has no paperwork tied to it to be a legal NYC taxi. It's expired so it's meaningless anyway.
bonez320 It's just a piece of tin.
