I heard a similar story or read about one on how the term "Hip Hop" was coined. I read that B-boys would try to go to downtown clubs to get in and the bouncers wouldn't let them in obviously because they were dressed like B-boys. They would call them hippey hoppers and tell them to hippey hopp back to the Bronx or some shyt. So from that they flipped it and used it as what it is today.

85-94 is considered to be the golden era of hip hop and indeed it was because of the evolutionary process that hip hop was not only having in the culture but the way they still maintained leveraging within the culture.. intelligent hooligan, de la soul, pharacyde, wise intelligent, tribe called quest, brand Nubian. AYO u had heavy D who made a hot record called “don’t curse” wit all the biggest emcees at the time or Biz markie erase racism that featured the likes of big daddy Kane, kool g rap. Jungle brothers and leaders of the new school and tribe all did mad records together that was empowering the era of that time. Pac is a New Yorker. There is no argument! The issue is ppl like ice T, schooly dee, nwa too short. came in glorifying gangsta rap. Yes they had politics but they marketed street image when hip hop was in a different direction moving toward optimism and harmony.
