Put on literally came out when I started making beats. This beat means a lot to my journey. I literally recreated this beat in reason 3.0 lol fun fact: drumma boy use to do ustreams and review beats and he reviewed mine back then and he liked it so that gave me the inspiration to keep going salute to drumma boy 🫡
Bro said he was in a dark place when he made this you can hear the hunger to be something greater in the chords selection just for jeezy to perfectly follow suit and make something great beautiful
good question, i wonder whatsup with the producers from 10/15 years ago.. Kane Beatz, Polow Da Don, DEVELOP, Shawty Redd, Ky Miller, Red Spyda, Digga etc
Thank you so much for this video. I was listening to the Put On instrumental on UA-cam, reading the newest comments, saw one talking about how they watched a video of Drumma Boy breaking down the beat & immediately searched it up. Watched every second. Best “making of” video I’ve ever watched for a song. I always loved the beat and I remember trying to remake it on FL Studio when I was younger. I vividly remember “feeling” the beat like Drumma Boy said. Specifically, that intro sub bass. Never had I literally FELT a note in a song lol. I also remember trying to make out what all the background sounds were & hearing like a tambourine in the final verse lol. He went all out in making the beat as well as in explaining it. Thanks again, this was amazing & it’s very educational to aspiring musicians.
When you speak of the new producers today, it takes 5-10 of them to make one beat. These guys were doing this shit by themselves. Canon asked a lot of great questions as well. Great episode.
This one of the best ones yet!! Drumma really one of them 🐐’s. Fav gem was when he talked about layering and how he used like 7 different horns/variations of it! 🔥🔥
Drumma is underrated for real ! Look at those major songs he got on his CV.. He & jeezy definetly a deadly combination Cheers for this one, one hour long!
This is honest to God might be top 3 producer interviews of all time. The unfiltered back story & the gems were more than motivating, this is the purest form of inspiration for us producers. Thank you Drumma! 🙏🏾
I remember where I was when this first dropped. I was working at Walmart in Columbus Ga on Airport when it premiered on the radio. Definitely is iconic! Drums one of dem ones
This is one of , if not, the beat producer interview I've ever seen. I will watch this one again and again. So many gems. Thanks to yall both and everyone who made this happen.
“Put On” was and still is to this very moment of writing this comment, one of my favorites that I will replay til my ear drums can’t drum. Whether I was in a dark place, happy-my-shift-finally-over place, my-job-got-me-fked-up place AND my Just-made-my-month’s-salary-times3-in-1day-from-joogin’-1.5lb-of-exotic place….. Knocking hard out of each car I had, with my ‘02 MC SS having best audio setup: 2-15” CVX, 2-12” Pioneer Champs, setting off car alarms everywhere I went. “Mouth Full Of Gold” was another vicious one Drumma produced.
Man, i love trap music without the drums, this was the first time i was able to hear it PROPERLY (for me) The hats just sound like slave chains clinking across each other... And ppl talking about how they litteraly in a trap..😢 the kick is clean, and was fresh. Only metal gets in like that but they are overkill on it... Another great interview!!! I never knew of this producer, ((yes ive heard most of his hits. I just never liked trap drums. So i haven't felt like seeing whos who on beast since that wave tool hold...) No hate, just not for me. That intro n the layers is FIRE! I MEAN bro took all the energy out the fucking house while making it... It gets no realer❤ Major props n respect!!!
This is crazy! one of my fav beats of all time. I did not know it had all of these elements that were hidden! Drumma Boy a beast. My fav producer! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yo when standing ovation came out man I lost my mind when that beat drops and then Jeezy gets to going it was the best time to be alive im still banging that shit in 2024 yo and Put on omg I can’t explain what that did for me 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
i literally said "i didnt know that was in there" a few minutes after he said i would lmao, but going back and mixing your beats again is definitely something im picking up 💎
Having the 8 outs on the mpc to track out was a blessing akai did their thing with this design even with the early mpc 's it was dope to track out on to the mixer
THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING ON SLICSE T!!!! Tela's 1st album was 85% done by him. His production and composition is flawless up there with Dr. Dre. Yep, I said it.

Aye yeaaaaahhhhh…. 🗣️ #LTDTB
It's the horns and that bass for me , that alone right there made the beat imo. Horns sound so wet.

Money to blow is how I learned to sequence beats. I counted how many claps were in the hook & how many were in the verse 😂
Studied that beat for days just listening!

Agreed!
Then boi look like they could be related 😮
They had a run?..
@@dawgybonex7605 yeah you was clearly sleep… Or three years old back in 2006-2009. The whole SELF MADE Rocko album. Swag Season mixtape … it’s ok bro
Drumma boy was my 1st favorite producer his sound was so unique like 2008
I never seen someone layer a hip hop beat with over 30 tracks. Legendary stuff!
Pretty crazy. When u hear that beat you’d think maybe under ten sounds..
I’ve done it many times. Only us producers who look at ourselves as movie score producers or opera directors do it.

Happy to see Drumma Boy, his beats still sound fresh to this day. The "Put On" beat is among the best beats i've heard in my life🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
