So much hate in these comments. Marc Ford is a guitar genius. I've seen him enough times to verify his virtuosity. His testimony is about the awakening of his soul. Rejoice in that and enjoy his beautiful new record, Holy Ghost.

Marc, you inspired my guitar playing. My first show of yours was the night before I went to rehab in 1995. Your return in NYC was my 10 year anniversary. I have always followed your music and path. Now I know why. Thank you for inspiring my life...

    And your solo

sad that so many people defended him and demanded that he "not be judged" because of his addiction are now tearing the dude down because he's religious. I'm not into organized religion, myself - I'm completely turned off by it, but it may be safe to say that whatever he found saved his fucking life. Everyone is so fucking tolerant until they come across something or someone doing something different or in conflict with what they believe, and then they suddenly aspire to tear a motherfucker down. Whatever your spiritual path is, if it brings you peace, and does no harm to others, then walk your path.

What the fuck are you talking about? Marc is a good musician, as the band (Black Crowes) which included!! Tend to be inspired by the 60 's and 70 's and then embracing all fashions and the excesses of that period. So successful band of the 90 's, with all ensuing ... even for good Marc (who did the late Cobain, Winehouse & co.) So shut up, wash your mouth and listen healthy r'n r!!

You can list the names of numerous "Rock Stars" like Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Brian Jones, Janis Jophilin, Ronnie Vanzant and many more who died because of a rock n Roll life style and its gospel of self. Their is nothing wrong with good music and having a good time doing so. But when music becomes your "god" and it consumes your whole being, the end result is dealth by alcohol, herion of accidents because of its all consuming nature. God gives us a talent and we are responsible to him for the end result of our decisions. Their is nothing crazy or wacked out about this awesome mans testimony, he has his life and act together!! Great testimony Marc, thank you Brother.

    • @VincentVader

Duane Allman was stone sober and died from a motorcycle wreck. Ronnie Van Zant died in a plane crash. Brian Jones drowned. nobody really knows if he was on drugs at the time. They didn't overdose or kill themselves with drugs and alcohol like the others you mentioned.

My fav guitarist of the 90's. The UA-cam videos from the Pinkpop Festival 20 years ago in 1993 still blows me away with his playing and tone on the Gibson Les Paul.

    Such a great testimony.
I can't help to wonder if Marc was able to have any success with sharing his new found faith with Chris and Rich Robinson.
The fact the Robinson brothers began communicating and performing together in the last two or three years is an answered prayer for many.
This very may have been an answered prayer of Marc Ford.
I admire Marc's willingness to share his thoughts and feelings about his transformation once he nailed down his salvation.
There are so many other Rock musicians who have turned to christianity and they give God all of the glory and credit.
A few Rock stars who have openly expressed their faith are Alice Cooper, Dave Mustaine, the late Glen Campbell, Jonathan Cain of Journey and many others.

I just started really getting into Marc Ford the person. Im a Black Crowes fan and a Steve Gorman fan, but don't care much for the Robinson brothers as people. Marc Ford kicked ass w the Crowes and saw the Robinson brothers ripping on him. Sure, addiction. But I watched a ton of their concerts and Rich Robinson can't hold a candle to Marc's skill level. Watching the 2019-2020 Black Crowes reunion tour with all new players made me wonder. This interview shocks me in a good way. Such a great guy. One of thee best guitarist's in the world. Human beings are so fuckin strange. This man was my idol, my favorite guitar player from not my exact generation but being a teenager in the 90's I mean.. I just loved the Crowes and his playing. Now I cant relate to him. Its so weird because I just don't get anything he is saying for the majority of the interview about god and Christianity. I consider myself basically an agnostic, I'm not a full on atheist I just go by the practice of I don't know. I have had a few friends, good friends, go this same route in life and it makes me upset because nothing changes a person's identity and overall personality like religion. Not even drugs will change a person as extreme and dramatic and it fuckin sucks. I had 2 very good friends with yrs of experience and friendship, next thing I know it was like being in the presence of a different human being and its shocking. Its a sad state of affairs to witness and experience on the other side of the coin. I want the old Marc Ford back.

Spirituality does not diminish one’s abilities.
The Lord’s grace clearly saved both from an awful addiction that would have ultimately destroyed their lives, or killed them. Personally, I’m happy that Marc is still with us. His playing with the Magpie Salute will not disappoint.

We can only serve one of two Masters,God or Satan. we have free will to choose. Jesus Christ is The Way The Truth and The Life.

Sorry to keep going about the Lizotte stuff, but I hate to see someone's name dragged through the mud, especially when we happen to have some mutual friends. Do a Google search for "Chris Lizotte Pittsburgh", you fill find an article from Pittsburgh about a Chris Lizotte in Rolla, Missouri who did some bad things. If you look up Chris Lizotte on Amazon or AllMusic, you will find the recordings THIS Chris Lizotte was working on. I happened to have one of them in the early 90s.
    NOT THE SAME GUY!

+barry creed +barry creed I would have assumed speed. I've had some friends suddenly "find jesus" when on or kickin that shit, prob mix of both. I keep watching the live version of "My Morning Song" from 1992 at the show from The Fillmore in Frisco, it's a shame cuz Marc was intrical in making that performance magical. Hope that lineup (WITH Marc) could someday return.

Yeah!!! Jesus is the bomb!!! Love Him so much... 'the life i now live i live by faith in the SON OF GOD who loved me and gave himself for me'
great story of marc fords awakening to God through Jesus Christ... love how He knew him but didn't know his name... he knew him and His presence of peace... and all the drugs was just his effort trying to get back to his room... Marc's history in Jesus' presence ear marked his soul and it saved him from drugs and that other hell, weird church/dead religion... Jesus is real... open up your heart and let him in peeps.. you won't be disappointed... you will become alive...

You're absolutely right. Marc was born with his passion for music, and because of his passion for music he is now the guitarist that he is today. He is in a delicate and vulnerable state, and it seems like he has been brain washed to rationalize his talents as a way to promote whatever this church is.

Oh. I was under the impression that this was from "Father of Lights", which certainly is supposed to be a Christian doc, or atleast that was my understanding. Clearly you know better. Also, being a follower of Christ is a full-time gig, tell a Football fan to "wait till Sunday". Fortunately I don't have to, and shouldn't.

  • @moe17moe
    @moe17moe 11 років тому

??? Wrong this isn't a Christian doc.It is Marc Ford saying something about how he feels and experiences God and religion. If you want to hear that kind of stuff wait till Sunday, in church.

sorry sir,but mr lizzotte has a checkered past.hes set up in cali now but im quite sure its the same guy.i did extensive research...as far as mr ford goes,he seems hurt/fragile/scared/even confused to me.,,,thats just my opinion.if hes happy and that keeps him alive ,thats what counts.i love his music and i wish i knew him personally, but i feel sorry for him because ive seen friends in the position he seems to be in.he may just be one of those tortured artists.i dont mean to sound crtitical.

I love Marc and hope he will hear the Gospel somewhere along the line. Jesus commands all men to repent and believe the Gospel to be saved from God's wrath because of our sin. I heard nothing of this in this testimony. I hope he will know the true biblical God through faith in His Son alone.

You're couldn't be more right, and trust me, there's not many sticks more crooked than me. In fact thats all God uses, I've yet to find a "straight stick". But brother, I believe you're missing the point. To keep the slingshot-stick analogy, even David needed to load his with a stone.

Do me a favor. Look for Santa, see if you can find him. Then do me another favor, look for Jesus and see if you can find Him. I'll make it easy for you. He's already listening. If you ask Him to show Himself to you, He will. I'm not talking about church, I'm talking about the real deal.... Jesus, the living God. I promise you He is listening and will answer you if you want to find him. This is not a make believe reality, he will stoop down to your impression of reality and prove to you that he does exist... because he loves you very, very much. I am just a witness. Somebody witnessed to me and I can attest that they were right.

Marc is retroactively giving credit to God for his talent? One's religion is one's religion and I am not busting his balls for that, but c'mon! He's a great guitar player because he worked really hard at it.

I didn't hear a single thing about the the Word, the Lord Jesus, or His atoning sacrifice and victory over sin, satan, and death. This is surely a nice story but where does the Gospel fit in to such a conversion? After all, it is God's power unto salvation. This is a Christian doc, right?

"God, Jesus, Allah can't cure addictions, only time, incarceration, overdose or incredible self courage can attempt to. been struggling for 28 years, good periods of pure joy, long periods of wallowing in the pig trough. but it all evens out, you can't crush yourself for failing. it takes a lifetime. reach out and offer UNDERSTANDING, to an addict. disdain, disgust do nothing. my 2 cents

With all due respect +Steve Tope JESUS is the only reason i am set free from drugs. I was a crack cocaine addict, tried many worldly ways to get free, to no avail. As SOON as i surrendered to Jesus and went through a Christian based recovery ministry, i have left there set free for 4 years now. NO DESIRE TO USE! What you dont understand, is that along with bad choices & physical implications (which are real yes) there is also the VERY real aspect of the spiritual impact that sin has. When we get into junk, we open ourselves to spiritual influence. ITS VERY REAL. Just think about the unexplained desire & compulsion to use beyond even your hating what its doing to your life. There is a very real demonic compulsion/influence at hand. "For we wage war not against flesh & blood, but against the evil principalities & powers in the unseen". If I believe Jesus is real, which He is, and that He created me, and that He is all powerful Creator of universe, then how could he not have the power to heal & deliver me? The problem is not God/Jesus, its our unwillingness to recognize Him, to surrender, the let go & let God if you will. OUR PRIDE! "For God gives grace (which is favor & empowerment) to the humble, but He resists the proud." The problem is us/self-will. "Seek first the Kingdom of God & His righteousness, and everything you need shall be added to you." Not judgin you, just sharing my story & truth as i have leanred it from Jesus. Peace & love of Christ to you my man ;)

I was a daily drunk for around 30 years....Tried to quit for the last 10 of those 30 years and nothing worked.
I was always taken over by the craving for alcohol after only a couple of weeks after having gotten through horrific withdrawals.
My family had prayed for me, along with their church. I began to pray for myself and after several weeks of calling out to God and praying and reading the Bible, I woke up on the morning of October 21, 2017 and I knew immediately that something felt very different but I had no Idea what to make of it.
That day I did not drink, didn't want a drink and I've never wanted a drink of alcohol since that day.
There is absolutely NO WAY that happens without the work of GOD.
I am a devout Christian and have a relationship with God and my life has gotten on track and doing well after YEARS of turmoil, broken marriages and just a conglomeration of pitfalls and trouble.
      Praise God !!
