- In this video I review an oldy but a goody A 1992 Darton Excel Compound Bow. In 1992 this was one of the fastest bows you could buy and the boy everyone wanted one especially for the then new 3D shoots that started popping up all over the country.
The ATA rating of this bow is 245 FPS This bow does better than that at 253 FPS
Paid $45.00 shipped from ebay for this bow and everything on the bow is just like it would of been in 1992
Bow Specs
30 inch Draw
71 pounds
Adjustable from 29 " to 30"
and weight of 55-70 pounds
Overall Length 44 inches
Weight 8lbs 7 oz - Спорт
I still have the one I bought in 92. I paid $500 CAN for it. I still use it today for target and hunting. I shoot XX75 camo 2213, 28inches with 100 grains tips @ 60lbs
I just got a Bear Grizzly Mag and I would not trade them for the world.
Good video on the Darton Exel.
Thank you for sharing the video. I recently got back into "finger shooting" and started looking at older longer ATA over all length bows. Picked up an old Hoyt. I had an old Darton back in the day great bow. I always love how some people are chasing the speed dream. Fact is plenty of game was taken and freezers filled with those old compounds not reason why they can't be used today.
I grew up shooting this bow. My dad passed away and I needed to learn everything I could about this bow as it’s now in my collection. This video was really special to watch. Thank you for all the details.
Picked up that same bow at a pawn shop this week for $5 on clearance just needs a site. Still works after 30 years
$5 Bucks for any thing of value at a pawn shop? Never heard of it.....Maybe a garage sale, but a pawn shop? Nawww....LOL!
I still have mine still use it today back then I made payments it's still great
Actually I am putting every new subscriber since this video released and when I hit 1000 will take all those names and put them in hat and random draw the winning name
Stay tuned I have another vintage bow I am reviewing and will be giving away
Where to buy new strings? I got a Martin cougar m-41 speed flite that needs new strings/cables
Thanks. I like my old Darton 😊
I had a whitetail ll back in the day and I keep a Pearson Spoiler to this day as a backup , you should find one of them and do a video
I grabbed one at a yard sale for $15 a couple years ago
People are too caught up in technology today. You dont need a 1500 dollar bow to shoot deer and elk or anything else. For those with a tight budget, the old compounds will still get it done just like they used to.
Wonder what it would be like if you were to put new technology dampers and stabilizers and such. Would be interesting!😊
Throw some limbsavers and a doinker stabilizer and it’ll quite down a lot.
I have a Old Darron bow I used it about four times would like to sell it. Don’t know what it’s worth have the case arrows and sights. It’s about 35 years old and it’s in the case.
Hi Todd, great review. i'm really enjoying your channel and thanks for the heads up on this vintage bow. too bad i don't have a chance at winning it seeing as you;re giving it away to that one subscriber that hits your 1000 sub, you're loyal already subscriber don't have a chance. you have to give everyone a chance , after all we are all getting you up there, just thought i'd mention that. still love the review and yes review more vintage bow, they are interesting to look at. keep it going my friend.
I am looking at vintage Darton and Browning compounds on eBay. I've never shot a compound and I'm curious to know how accurate you can be with one.
You can be very accurate especially at long ranges...
I'm trying to find draw mods for one.
How do you find out the year & model of these? I looked at an older Darton but couldn’t find a serial number
You have to search old company catalogs to try and match up the models
@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 That’s what I figured. Thanks!
Can you add modern accessories to this bow?
Yes it can take most all accessories as it has ATA attachment points. As for your Black Bear it should be the same in a compound model if you have the recurve model there are no attachment points
What modern this compound bow?
Sorry not sure what you mean..
