- Dark plays genetron! Yes, the Grand Scion Cup 2023 has been held! And we're bringing you the games. First off is Best of Three featuring Dark, currently ranked number 5 in the world by Aligulac. But does he know enough about how to play scion custom races--and how to play against them? And will his keiron opponent, Stassin freeze with terror or will he school Dark with the many tactics the champion zerg player has never seen before?

The Grand Scion Cup is happening! The Legendary Dark actually participated... and this happened!

Against Stassin, he did play Zerg, but in his next match against Cognite, he continued to play Genetron in round 2 after losing round 1. He must have realized he would always get a guaranteed win with Zerg, but always lose the series if he couldn't figure out Genetron.
Otherwise quite cool of him to at least try a Scion race out, unlike Hero who immediately forfeited the tournament after realizing he couldn't just play Protoss.
Right - it turns out he just got into the spirit of it. So cool.
Is it just me or would a Ultimate Mode of Eris Reloaded tournament be sick? Especially if someone hybridized TUMOE with Scion.
This is history right here. Love to see the larger community introduced to the new races! Hopefully this tournament encourages more 4th race games!

I knew it! I always theorized that as Zerg, you cannot use zergling because of how much anti-light option that Keiron has throughout all the games. So front heavy and center with Roaches and abuse the burrow mechanic (since Keiron doesn't have readily available detection) to do some serious damage. While I was thinking Lurkers, it seems that Dark had a better idea with Roach tunneling claws. It was such an epic battle to watch!
Lurkers vs kieiron. I'm not sure we've seen that yet. Could be deadly! By that stage the keiron player better have occulus and gyres or they are toast.
i was just texting about the use of scion races in stormgate, and the guy there suggested that the scion mod developers contact frost giant about it.
The moment Dark started over-producing moles in the last game, he lost, by the time any attempt at expanding happened, Keiron already outproduced him.
Yeah, 'he owned the map' as they say. With Dark's game sense, he must have suspected.
Mannn I really wanted to see the moles take part in the final battle at the end!!
You can never have enough moles.
Something to notice at the 12:30 mark is I don't think Dark's attack was intended to do a lot of damage so much as keep his economy on the back foot. At the end of that exchange, the worker count and income count was rather telling. I paused the video to type this, let's see how telling it becomes.
