Beautiful size too. Ppl that have never had pineapple like this are missing out. They have a great smell before cutting. Grocery store pineapple have no smell. So imagine the taste. I grow mine in Indiana, 5 ripening now, from store bought fruit but the tops and pups from these will produce larger fruit than the first fruit from that original top, plus that fruited top will grow pups that you can root and grow. Just need a warm place to grow them in the winter.
What do you do for the winter?
Any tips
Year two of growing and lost this years pineapple too. It was palm sized barely starting to yellow and was firm. I wanted to wait for it to ripen, but a few ways later and it was soft with bugs all over. I still cut, washed, and tried. No good tasted sour and smelled like alcohol… in a bad way.
I don't know why but I thought they grew on trees. I guess you really do learn something new every day 😊 ✌️
That’s what I grew up knowing as a kid. Things have changed with short cuts, I guess.
Can you post a video on growing a pineapple? I’ve tried the technique of starting a top, pulling leaves to expose roots, and placing in water but it doesn’t work. I change the water every few days but it seems to always rot
I have a bunch of them posted on UA-cam, TikTok and Instagram
@@andrebaptiste thanks!
I always go straight to soil and drown it when watering. Miracle grow has a transplant liquid that can help too. Aside from that rooting hormone powder on the bottom can motivate roots.
question? I root a pineapple from the store and planted last year. I've seen comments other places that if you give it fertilizer it will bear fruit, without the 5 year waiting period of growing from seed I guess. do you know anything about that? I just was being patient waiting on it to fruit lol.
Usually takes 2 years to fruit from a top. Not sure how it takes from seed. Once it’s got 20-25 leaves you can do the apple slice trick
@@andrebaptiste thank you so much! I watched your apple slice video also
where did you get that cage? I need them i have a hell of a time with squirrels
I have videos on how to make them from dollar store trash bins.
@@andrebaptiste Awesome. Thank you. I'll be ready next year
I wish I had a pineapple tree
Anyone can. They can grow in pots.
