What did you think of Tales of the Empire? Was it better or worse than Tales of the Jedi in your opinion? Could it had been better or were you fully satisfied with the stories told here? 🤔
“Tales of the Dark Side” is a much better choice of name than “Tales of the Empire”
Everyone’s raging about Barris or Morgan creating the TIE Defender; me, my biggest problem is Pelleaon being Thrawn’s lieutenant instead of either Eli Vanto or Karyn Faro from the canon Thrawn novels. Not only do they fit in better, but also Pelleaon doesn’t even meet Thrawn until the 3rd book which takes place in the middle of Rebels season 4. Aftermath, Ahsoka, Kanan comics, Vader comics, Dark Disciple, what else will Flinoli retcon next?
Yeah about that... I would had included these things in my review but I gave up already a year ago when it comes to Filoni and any canon that comes from the books. Like, it's bold of you to assume that Filoni:
1. Knows about any of these characters
2. Actually gives a womp rats ass about what happens in the books
He's shown time and time again that he doesn't care and just does his own thing. Heck, we're starting to even notice that he's ignoring his own "canon" that he's set up in Clone Wars and Rebels lol... Filoni is an excellent story teller, but awful at a lot of many other things, and staying consistent with existing established canon is one of those things.
@@SYLOVideo even during the Legends were canon days, he’s been known to change elements brought into TCW. Mandalore lore and ARC Troopers are the most egregious examples of this
Hmm, was it really him or George as well? It makes sense to put all the blame on Dave now, but back then he worked on TCW alongside George, and Legends (back then only simply known as the EU) practally wasn't canon in George's eyes (most fans know this), so he ended up changing up some things that contradicted the EU. Which granted, sucked that it happened, but at the same time the EU content did not have the same status of "official" canon (at least not in the way the current canon is as stated/viewed by Disney Lucasfilm) because the creator of Star Wars himself didn't consider it part of his official canon... back then, what was and wasn't canon was a messy ordeal. What fans considered canon wasn't what George saw as canon.
Anywayyyy, my point is that it's hard to put blame on Dave for ignoring/retconing canon back then due to several reasons, and one being that George was around and influencing him a lot. Nowadays, it's just Dave, we have a set canon that the owners (Disney Lucasfilm) stated is the one and only canon they will be following, and Dave still finding ways to disrespect it lol
having watched this and expecting nothing really i have to say it was fantastic. great story telling and combat. great stuff.
Nothing beats going into something and expecting nothing at all and then being pleasantly surprised. I'm thinking that is exactly how we should all approach new Star Wars content these days.
I actually enjoyed this series for what it was. Yeah, it wasn’t AS good as Tales of the Jedi, but it wasn’t bad.
I think had this come out before Tales of the Jedi then our expectations would had been better in check haha

Also another thing in a universe as expansive as star wars we need to see more aliens and yet we keep seeing more humans when it should be a mix
Bingo. This is one of my main complaints with Andor. As for Tales of the Empire, yeah the village in episode 5 could had perhaps used some more aliens, but otherwise I think the alien representation was good here (aside from episode 1 and introducing a whole clan of humans on Dathomir...)

And you said bariss wasnt evil when i mean if bombing the jedi temple and killing clones and human personal isnt evil i dont know what is and than later acting all good later on sorry i dont buy it
I said that she wasn't a good person, but not evil enough to be on the same level as the Inquisitors and Sith (whom are pure evil). As let's not forget, Barriss' betrayal in the Clone Wars stemmed from a disillusionment with the Jedi Order. From her POV, the constant warfare contradicted the Jedi ideals of peace and diplomacy. She felt that the Jedi were straying from their path, and thus her trust in the Jedi Council's judgment had eroded. She questioned their commitment to peace and if they were truly fighting for the right reasons.
So believing that the Jedi had fallen, Barriss saw the bombing as a way to expose their hypocrisy and force them to confront their actions, thinking this would lead to positive change. She only wanted the Jedi to get back on the right track and saw no other way. Desperate times call for desperate actions. At the end of the day yes, her actions were morally wrong, but her belief in the Jedi being wrong was also correct. The Jedi were manipulated and played by the Sith, Palpatine. We all know this.
Meanwhile, the evil that is the Sith (with their Inquisitor followers) wanted the Jedi dead and gone. This is absolutely not what Barriss wanted or believed in. The way I see it, she's a tragic figure. She wasn't purely evil, but her actions had devastating consequences despite her only wanting good for the Jedi.
Like I said in the video, her becoming an Inquisitor (due to her actions) made sense in perspective of Palpatine/Grand inquisitor, but it was not something that was meant to last as she never shared the same beliefs.
Its not even tales of the empire just two characters we already seen and two character’s we already know morgan esbeth and bariss offee i wish we saw more of thrawn in the empire cause of its called tales of the empire we should have gotten that not two characters no one cares about just my opinion though feels like a bait and switch only showing vader on the trailer when he was barely shown at all but least for me i like tales of the empire but its low on the list tales of the jedi at least focuses on the jedi order unlike tales of the empire which makes a bait and switch
Yep! This was my main problem. I'd rather had seen a story about Vader/Tarkin, Dedra, Thrawn and his forces first arriving on Peridea, the Empire's final stand on Jakku, etc. Literally anything involving real Imperials... not some industrialist whom the Empire want nothing to do with and a short lived Inquisitor that ends up being a hermit healer. Maybe if this series was 20+ episodes, then fine lol but if this is all we got then mehhhh

Episode length was the main complaint regarding Tales of the Jedi too, and they went ahead and continued with the short 6 episode format. It's unfortunate (since this anthology series has so much more potential with longer episode runtime and count), but it looks like they don't intend on changing this format at all. Either they're lazy or its a budget thing... or a bit of both, who knows.
