    I’ve watched this 2 times. I think this is a very professional solid design and yet fairly simple at the same time. Great work.

    I just bought the same exact tractor last week! Already wanting to build forks. good video!

    Chris, nice build. I’ll be doing this for myself soon for my project 40 yr old skid steer. I’ve built these before and have one tip - offset the bottom rail back in the side uprights so that when mounted on the tractor you’re able to tip the fork tips up to secure the load. If you make it so the mounting rails are equal distant top and bottom from the tractor like this, you’ll never be able to tip the forks back past level with the ground. Also, the loader will be at max tip backwards while trying to pick up something on the ground, which is at the weakest angular position for your front hydraulic dump cylinders. Scott

    Great set of forks, I'm going to be making my own attachment company,
    "Bandito attachments company" starting with pallet Forks, basic utility buckets, hay bale Spears, grade bars, little hitch attachment to move trailers Etc... eventually expand into hydraulics, augers, brush Cutters, Etc...You name it- we can make it.
    Keep your eyes open for Bandido attachments

    Great build. I’m looking to do the same thing, just don’t have the quick attach on my “new to me” 1990 Kubota 3055.
    Some great ideas I got from you. Thanks.

    The cost on A36 raw material (rusted non mill finish drop ends from a service center) to fab this from a year ago plus my labor rate (T&M) make this sadly not worth my time- the build is world class and I wish I could spend time making fun things for me like this. Awesome video

    Very Nice!!!
    I finally just finished up my fork build last month. My most favorite attachment.
    My wife loves it on our Kubota BX23s. She`s always looking for things to lift with it now, lol.

    Looks great mate. I bought some bucket attach forks, they are useless on the bx23 due to the offset from the hinge reduces the lift capacity. I've been planning on hacking them up and welding a quick attach like you did. I think think due to the limited lift capacity of the BX you could reduce the weight of the forks to match the max lifting capacity. Thanks for the video.

    Thats a nice job on the forks for a project, you just got way more forks than tractor to use them you could get in trouble real quick depending what you are doing. They wouldn't look out of place on my 100 hp front assist chore tractor on the farm, but i'd have to go careful not to overload them being built with a lighter frame for your tractor . Thanks for sharing, take care.

      Your concern is unfounded. The Kubota BX will do just fine. I have one of the original BX2200s and I can tell you although small they are real tractors. The hydraulic system bypass limits lift so it depends on how bypass is set. Lifts of 900 have been reported, spec is about 500. Without rear weight or fluid filed tires the BX will pivot on the front axle at max lift. My box blade is sufficient to keep all fours down.
      If there is any flaw in this build is that it may be too heavy. Between the quick attach and forks there may not be much lift capacity left. And it maybe just fine for what Chris wants to do with them..
      Nice build Chris

      @@danharold3087 Don't worry I fix equipment for a living to, I've seen the stupid stuff people do with bigger tractors and wheel loaders than these and it's all relevant to any size tractor/machine. if you get it wrong you'll wreck it or if real unlucky injure or kill yourself or somebody else just the same.
      Putting all the weight on the front axle so it pivots can cause serious damage . it might be ok for a few times doing it but there is a real risk of snapping overloaded internal components, castings on the axle/mounting or even transmission castings failing further back.
      Ive seen it on 80hp plus tractors, they are not designed to carry that much weight on the front end, especially if you still manage to try or succeed lifting a ballasted rear end.
      Guys just have to be sensible and careful even seasoned operators get it wrong without a good ending sometimes.
      If a guys putting video's out on youtube bear in mind some idiot that has no clue with his new acerage and shiny tractor might be watching. Then go screw up because they were in out of their depth.
      Machinery somedays is really no different to pointing a loaded gun at a guy and pulling the trigger.. Enjoy what you guys are doing and as long as everybodys safe and not harming anybody or the equipment it's all good.

    What is the center cut out for?
    With this design can you push down with the forks. I could not see if they are locked into place or are held in only by gravity.

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  Рік тому

      The center cutout is to remove the forks. They're hooked in at the bottom as well as the top so yes, you can push down with them. Hope that answers your question.

  • @TheDadPenfield

    What have you lifted with these? Are you able to lift the front of your tractor up off the ground? I would like to know if anything bent and if the welds held. A video of it in action would be excellent.

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  Рік тому

      Not one issue with it. I think I kinda overbuilt it. The only problem I've run into is that the forks themselves are about 100 lbs each which reduces my tractors lifting capacity by a lot seeing as though it's only 650 lbs.

  • @tonyioannoni4951
    @tonyioannoni4951 3 роки тому

    Very nice job, I opted to build forks out of 2X3 square tubing, 1/4 thick, with a skid steer attachment blank, to keep it as light as possible, the target would be to keep it under 150 pounds if possible, as the normal bucket weighs 132 pounds, and my BX24D has an actually tested 785 pounds lift capacity, I figured the lighter the forks assembly is, the more I can haul...have you weigh your forks, they seem very strong, but also heavy?

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  3 роки тому

      Yes, that's my biggest issues. Each fork weighs about 85 lbs which greatly reduces my overall lift capacity. I might make some lighter forks and sell these

    • @tonyioannoni4951
      @tonyioannoni4951 3 роки тому

      @@ChrisOfAllTrades If I can give you some info, the clamp on forks use square tubing 2x3 1/4 inches thick, and welds another 2x3 5/16 on top vertically, and reinforces the joint with 1/4 plate cut in an L fashion very resistant but light, they resist up to 1,500 pounds, that is already an overkill, I will build mine with 2x3 1/4 thick all the way, I can't lift more than 800 pounds anyway, and only 36 inches long, to keep my total length and weight in check a bit.

    That is a nice build Chris. Simple and effective. Too bad the forks are ±80lbs each. I assume you have the 4in wide forks. They won't bend under any kind of abuse. I've broken/split rocks with my forks, purposely! Thanks!

    Good job on the forks, I think the forks from kubota are around $1400. I am pretty sure the forks will withstand way more weight than the tractor can lift.

    I personally think you should have put some more weld beads on, but I’m curious how it’s been so far.

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  5 років тому +1

      I've strapped those onto a John Deere SG310 backhoe and lifted insane loads with it. On was to the point where it literally bent the 2x6 steel and the welds never budged. I sold the big machine now and the forks are almost too heavy to be practical for my little 25hp kubota, but yeah, they have definitely served their purpose...

    After watching a third time might I suggest it if you’re interested in having a trailer ball you might world a square tube in the middle as a receiver hitch

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades

      @timlawson817 not everyone is a professional welder, and judging by your comment you aren't either because I have never seen a professional tear down another person who tries their best to do the best they can and learn in the process. Instead, they try to build each other up with actual, and constructive, feedback on HOW one could improve their welds, what to look out for and what resources to use to learn and not just say "these welds look like crap".
