That’s not a bad price. I always buy full sovereigns from Tavex. They are currently £512. I’ve been buying one a month and putting them away for years now. Always best to buy sovereigns and not bars as an investment because the coins are Capital Gains Tax exempt. If you do invest long term and build up a stock of gold the last thing you want to do is pay a large lump of tax for selling your investment especially as the current government has just halved the annual non payable threshold to only £3k!
I found a 2003 gold Proof Half-Sovereign at my LCS here in the US, it had sat on the shelf for quite a while, for $272 US. It came with velvet box and all the papers. Probably would be worth more on your side of the pond.
Nice video, I love the Sovereigns, only got a few halves, I prefer full ones🙆♂️. I was lucky enough to pick them up a couple of years ago when the price was more reasonable 🥳. Thanks 🙋🏻♂️.
An elderly colleague of mine recently mentioned this to me as an alternative to my continued purchasing of Silver Britannia’s … coins & bars (1ounce + fractional)
1/10th gold coins are going to explode very soon (maybe next year, but certainly before 2030 imvho) once people start to realise the value of gold versus everything else imvho.
@ although the ration between Silver & Gold is still way off where it should be? No… I prefer Silver to Gold in most cases, I don’t believe in FIAT currencies. The £GBP will fail in my life time. When it does, don’t get me wrong, #Gold & #Silver will both be in demand but least with #Silver I can barter (if need be for smaller amounts of what I need) … #Gold will be used for larger items or transactions.
The case for sovereigns is called a fob 🙂Take care, however, inserting and removing coins from the fob will scratch the coins - this of course did not bother gentlemen back in time as sovereigns were sheer currency. Still, owning a fob is a gem - and I congratulate you! All the best, my friend!
Half sovereigns are rarer then full sovereigns, and was the only gold coin, a worker ever got. A gold sovereign was a fortune in Victorian days, and workers rarely ever got one.
I only have half a sovereign. And I admit that I like this little coin very much.

Nice video 👍👍 I’m fairly new to stacking but have acquired 4 halves since April alongside some other non-cgt pieces 👍
Wise investment I must say, I’m a big fan of sovs full and half
very neat antique sovereign case
In 1978 I can remember half sovereign was around 50 pounds about 40 pounds secondhand in pawn shops.

Much cheaper then, I’ll be buying a ful sov soon 🤞🏻 thanks Jamie
I like the tenth of an ounce coins too.All these are useful to use as currency in future times.

yeah I was told exactly the same
Wise advice, gold performs much better compared to silver

I’ve also bought a half sovereign two weeks ago from Cardiff Gold as well and I love it.😁👍🏼

Sorry, 1913.
@@rosco1234 very nice! I went for a random 1902 - 1910 Edward half. My next will be a Victorian sov I think. The cheaper the better 🙂
Very informative and helpful video again :)
