Now BUST the bank with this band.
Talk Show Host yes please
Talk Show Host Hell yeah!
Only if they decide to modify the telecaster and load it with lace sensors, and also to get a Fender Strat EOB.
Have the captain as a guest to play Thom Yorke's part
i know Ed has a signature strat, i think he uses a Rickenbacker on occasion and i have seen him use the Johnny Marr signature Fender Jaguar, a Mesa Boogie combo with a vox AC30 and i saw a video on his pedals but i haven't looked at it again so you'll have to see for yourself and choose what they do have on the board which is in the andertons website
Well, this petition is mandatory...Sound like Radiohead BY busting the bank
They already have a ton of pedals here, don't think there's much to add
you can literally buy harley benton tele or jay turser telecaster and buy better amp and you will spend less money and sound esxactly the same
Knowing Jonny's rig quite well, I'm so impressed how you got the tones bang-on from the gear you used. Probably your most accurate Sounds Like yet! Awesome playing too
Technically the Mutronics (or the DOD) enters until the second solo
iglu Way off on S.H.Alien!!
They got a whammy pedal and didn't use it on Subterranean Homesick Alien....
@@TheEmpyrean15 exactly lmao
Let's start by giving some cred to both of these guys for their outstanding musicianship. The quality of their playing and musical insight is awe inspiring. Second, their technical knowledge is beyond impressive. It's so useful to see what different combinations of instruments, pedals and amps can achieve - such a great way to sell gear by showing what it actually does!
That Subterranean Homesick intro was spot freaking ON! I thought it was the actual original track.
Lol it wasn't a mile close
You must’ve not listened in a while, it sounded very different
Its off in so many ways. And they had the gear to do it right
For a quick video "without breaking the bank" it was petty good but in no way spot on. Also, to get that it required experience and knowledge. You can't just go buy that shit and also get somewhere near. So good job from them but it just wasnt it. Hence them being Radiohead :D
I love how they picked the telecaster plus without realising that it was the perfect guitar😂
That wasn't a telecaster plus, it was the modern player version. The main difference between Jonny's Tele and any other one is the lace sensor pickups, which has been discontinued since 1995.
@@ilitomili5554 still telecaster plus
@@izakhughes but different in many ways, so its not technically the perfect guitar to get jonny tone unless your gonna rig it up with lace sensor pickups
@@ilitomili5554 you mean lace sensors. They’re not called lace sensor pickups. Just lace sensors
@@izakhughes doesn't really matter what you call them...
Damn. Rabea has lost a lot of weight. Good job man.
Sounds like Pixies?!
Yea they definitely need to do that
What? Massively over rated? Takes a lot of publicity....
How about a Play Like series? Play like John Mayer without punching my fist through the drywall in frustration.
The problem is that they don’t promote gear that way. They are a music-store, after all!
Also, Tyler Larsson at Music is win have already done that concept with his “Habits of... series”!
"My Iron Lung" sounded awesome! Well done lads. Very interested in the Digitech Whammy Ricochet now
Sound like sonic youth without busting the bank.
Now that's a task!
Will never work
Impossibru
A metal muff and 5,483,374 timings and you are good to go :)
Tunings not timing
Great vid! One of the best "Sounds Like" videos by far, you guys nailed it.
You guys should try a Sounds Like Cage the Elephant!
Drink everytime Rabea says "to be fair."
I reckon that's a good bet
To be fair i think hes just trying to be fair
I tried it, then I died
thats a good shout
Water. I'm hella hydrated
As somebody that once requested this a long time ago while knowing it'd be a rough one, I think you guys did a completely excellent job, for what it's worth.
The Bodysnatchers riff is Thom's part, and the No Surprises riff is Ed's part.
and jonny plays glockenspiel on no surprises
Yeah i dont they did that good of a job. Theres so many points where they clearly didnt do enough research
@@James-kj9hw it's sound like, not "today we will be covering some songs"
Big fan of Radiohead here. You guys were amazing! Just found your channel and you've got yourselves yet one more subscriber.
Sound like Placebo, Pixies and Jack White's tone on his solo albums.
kasper adam Lisowski agreed to every suggestion
kasper adam Lisowski Placebo would be great
Sound like The Cure.
I'm sad
I'm happy!
I'm sad
I'm happy!
I'm just kinda meh
Now I'm sad again...
Rinse and repeat.
What he said + F L A N G E R
I’d like to hear The Cure on Sound Like...
first pumpkins then radiohead
i love you guys
Bloodborne Survivor right? They got my two favorite bands one after the other. Also I love bloodborne so nice name
bring on the 90's!!
MegaCrasherMusic Don't think they could do Kevin shields for under 1500. They'll have to break the bank
Bloodborne Survivor they did smashing pumpkins
This is the best Sound Like... episode ever! The hours put into this paid off. You guys pretty much nailed the sound using a limited budget. Stunned!
Loving all the videos, especially the back to back pumpkins and Radiohead. Sounds like Modest Mouse maybe? Isaac has a very specific guitar, so I think it would be interesting to see what you guys come up with
great job! you nailed most of the tones really well. :)
I expected to see you here! 😂
Hey there Lando
not surprised seeing you here!!
I just love these long anticipated videos
You have to rob a bank, if you really want to sound like Ed.
True
** I would love to see a 'Sounds like X by using a computer' episode / series **
Most of us aren't going to buy a particular pedal for one part of a song, even if it is cheap so having a computer and exploring affordable guitar amp effect software installed would be great for us beginners who just play at home and want to strum along to a wide variety of songs to keep things interesting. I know this series is ultimately designed to promote the shop but you guys sell software too as well as computers and peripherals.
Anyway, as always - great episode. I love watching these shows.
As for a band suggestion: Despite being tech savvy I like old school so ... Sounds Like The Cars?
Keep up the great work
Peace. Out.
The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth!
I guess in most cases combining pedals with a multi effects pedal will do the job. You could of course try to find some free plug ins that do the job as well, but I guess Andertons want to sell some gear 😉
I really like these videos and appreciate the creativity Matt & Rabea bring to their rigs.
That said, the Boss GT-1 seen here could almost certainly do any and all sounds that you could want... modulations, delays, reverbs, dirt, amp models and so on. It's the latest toy in my collection - I got it essentially on the first day it was available in Canada - and I really like it.
This was awesome. :) Sound like Opeth, The Who, The Beatles, Steven Wilson or Elbow?
Eyyy they finally did it! You guys actually did great with this, pretty damn close for the amount of money you had. Also that iron lung was just amazing
Zappa next d00ds! Great job on this one!
still waiting for another vs
sound like "Sex Pistols" Rabea: shows up late and drunk "piss off" -nailed it!
bob bob Les Paul Custom and a Marshall (stolen). Job done.
hell yeah lol
12:14 - I just pictured the intro to Crash Bandicoot 2
Tiago Francisco PFffffFt
Can you please do Sound like Radiohead?????? wait....
BY busting the bank
Sound like
Thee Oh Sees
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
10cc
We all need this tbh.
would be really hard for king gizz, they use vintage yamaha's and the likes. They're switching to more sg's/explorers tho so maybe possible if you're only covering recent stuff?
Gijs gizz actually have pretty simple rigs in terms of amp and pedals. fender hot rod deluxe, crybaby wah, dd-7, devi ever torns peaker. as for guitars any electric 12 string for stu would be good
13:15 the way that guitar sounded when they did my iron lung was just bliss
Ok that was freaking awesome! Thank you guys so much for doing Radiohead sounds like. Some of those songs you just nailed!
my iron lung sounds sick!!!!!!!!
awesome fuckin sound maaaaaaannnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!! (which pedals did you use for that exactly?)
i know he used the Whammy Ricochet and i think some other stuff
An octave pedal, whammy pedal, and reverb
love to see Jeff Buckley without busting the bank!!
THIS ONE
Fender telecaster, good amp, a bit of reverb, and a voice of an angel.
@@dezmounts978 Literally a tele a fender twin reverb is really all you need for guitar tone but that voice is never going to be achievable
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED SO FAST
Absolute virtuoso performance on this one, guys! The head of the radio is a really tough one. It paid off for you to wait on this one until you built up your scholarship and quiver. You were then able to deliver masterfully. Brah. Vo. Brah.
Sound like Omar Rodriguez (the mars volta)
I thought you guys totally nailed this one. I didn't want you to stop playing! Guess I'll go hit some Radiohead on youtube!
Sound like The Clash (London Calling era) or Pete Townshend (Live at Leeds or Who's Next)!
Gabrielle de Bourg the clash would be interesting
Gabrielle de Bourg Leeds leeds leeds!
Clash would be cool to see. Guessing Epiphone Les Paul with p90s for guitar, Phase 100 and any analog delay for pedals. Squier CV Tele for Strummer .
Sounds probable, though I hope they would go with Humbuckers if they do Mick Jones, as he was mostly using humbuckers from Gimme 'Em Enough Rope onwards in his Les Paul Custom.
Gabrielle de Bourg the clash would be really really easy
Excellent job guys, I'm very impressed. Especially the O.K. Computer stuff. One of your best episodes thus far in terms of nailing the tones.
Sound like Dream theater please!!
Btw you guys are awesome making these videos! I'm happy for every sounds like you do!! \m/
123 please more people like this
123 i wish they would do that one to
123 that might be kinda tricky since John Petrucci's signature Music Mans are pretty expensive, and he uses Mesa amps
Will York Music I think the guitar will be more of a problem because I think they will use the Mesa Flux drive for the Mesa sound . Sterling does a musicman jp but they're not that close to the origin imo
Just get an Ibanez RG, a decent one with a LoPro edge and Dimarzio pickups.
This time you really nailed it, the gear sounded spot on! Well done.
It sounds amazing. Perhaps, you can revisit this sounds like by busting the bank since Fender will be launching Ed O'Brien's signature Stratocaster later this year
Nicely done fellas, You even tackled an early song (You) not even the real Radiohead play that anymore.
I'd like to see sounds like the Manic Street Preachers next.
Sound like Jimi Hendrix By busting The Bank
Not disappointed at all! Congrats guys
Just wanna add two things:
- No surprises' melody is played by Ed (Jonny plays the Glockenspiel on this one)
- Subterranean Homesick Alien's weird high melody would have (maybe) sounded better with an octave up, heavy reverb and delay with a phaser/flanger (although I really like the sound you've found with the mobius)
Hope this helps anyone (or even Rabea and Matt for their BY busting the bank)
It would be great if you could integrate Thom Yorke's rig next time
Sound like Tiny Tim! Come on Bae, pick up a ukulele and tip toe through the tulips. 😂
BEAUTIFUL GUYS. Worth the wait. Some of the riffs were played a bit off, but tonally they were excellent. Very proud!
or sonic youth
Good work guys; great sounds and was nice to chat with you when you were looking for the gear around the store for this video.
Nailed the vibes here guys! So creative :) would have loved if they had that whammy in stock just to see Rabea go mental on it.
Cover-band challenge: sound like 10 completely different bands without busting the bank. One guitar, one amp, and, say, no more than three pedals. Possible starting point: Squier HSS Strat, Boss Katana 100. Plenty of cash left over for one or two multi-effects pedals, plus something a little more specialised.
you guys absolutely nailed this!! Every tune you played could have been from Ed and Jonny themselves, well done! Very entertaining. Would be cool to see a sounds like Thrice
Sound Like Bernard Butler (Suede era)? His multiracking (sounds like it, anyway) means you could double up.
yall did an incredible job! one of yalls best sounds likes. so much attention to detail
Sound like the Clash!
best one yet! amazing tone. could you do Mac Demarco?
Paranoid Android was PERFECT
i want them to do Radiohead BY busting the bank to see if Rabea can do the infamous 2nd solo
cos that one is really challenging
The modern player Tele sounds actually quite awesome
08:10 - You
10:03 - Bodysnatchers
10:48 - No Surprises
13:12 - My Iron Lung
14:28 - Subterranean Homesick Alien
16:58 - Just
19:38 - Paranoid Android (solo)
That was pretty damn good! And I fell in love with that Tele yet again. Maybe one day I'll afford one...
Sound like Opeth!
Adam Gaposchkin hell yeahhh!
yes Please! Both new and old Opeth sound
This is your best video IMO. As always a lot of great gear tips. Your David Gilmour and Tool videos are awesome too. Keep up the great work!
I just made the loudest scream in the fucking world when i saw this notification
Rabea, i love you to death!!!
now let's get some Mac Demarco soundlike
or Devin Townsend
or maybe even Megadeth's Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman
my opinions:
You - Close but just slightly not perfect so 8/10
Bodysnatchers - It's supposed to be Thom Yorke's part but i'll let you off cos it was close so 10/10
No Surprises - sounded pretty close but i think the other one was a bit more rounded so 9/10
My Iron Lung - this one was nail on the head! 10/10
Subterranean Homesick Alien - I don't listen to this song much but i think it's close so 9/10
Just - i thought both parts were spectacular and sounded 100% so this is a definate 10/10
Paranoid Android first solo - That's bang on Jonny Greenwood! 11/10
next time do Jonny's insanely challenging 2nd solo in Paranoid Android with heavy phase, envelope filter and more crap if you do by busting the bank
Shidonlad's V&G Mac demarco woooop
ME-GA-DETH
Personally wasn't too sold on just but i think they didnwell with what they had
Shidonlad's V&G Actually I'd give just more like a 9 as it's supposed to be tremolo picked.
I dont know if thats possible. He used an external unit, a mutronics mutator, that would drive the signal random and crazy. Normally, at a live situation you would go crazy with tape echo pedals and a whammy, but if you want something thats close, you would have to get a step sequencer and put it at full speed. I think ehx have something like that. This guitar moment its similar to Whole Lotta Love before Page's solo, you just have to go trippy and crazy. You have the freedom to do whatever you want. I love this kind of moments because of that.
I'm not really a strat guy, but that is genuinely one of the best strat sounds I've ever heard.
ITS HERE
STILL waiting for these guys to bust the bank with Radiohead
Amazing vid. You guys nailed it. Would love to see..Sounds like Thrice 👌👌🤘
This is one of the better budget videos- the tones are really nice and sound pretty dang close to the recordings.
"Mobii", Matt throwing down his Latin conjugations like a badass.
😉
Sound like Radiohead? About bloody time!! Good job lads. PS I don't think Jonny Greenwood uses a lot of compression per say but he gets a lot of compression from his lace sensor pickups on this tele plus.
Sound like Tame Impala
yassssss
"specific"
Uwot
ehx small stone > ehx holy grail > mxr carbon copy > fuzzface jdf2 > mxr dyna comp > boss blues driver > diamond vibrato
There's a good episode of Living Room Gear demos showing a Tame Impala pedal setup:
ua-cam.com/video/g2SMr65qpfI/v-deo.html
Honestly you guys did really well here, uber close to perfection at times :)
Do blur or Graham Coxon solo stuff 😁 one of my fave guitarists.
or both
As a massive Radiohead fan I have to say that this is a mighty fine effort
Qotsa needs a redo in honor of Villians.
Joaquin Carlson Wich is a fantastic record, by the way.
Joaquin Carlson one with troy this time
Thumbs up!
I'm one of the, probably many, people who requested this band for the 'Sound Like Series'. And I have to let you guys know you've done a decent job. Some songs are spot on and some songs are a bit off... But with THAT band and with THIS budget it's been pretty impressive. I actually hope you'll give a little more in depth information about the pedals, a little tutorialesque if you will. And also I'm hoping you'll record the breaking the bank version of Sounds Like Radiohead as well!
Cheers
I'd love to see a Sound Like The War On Drugs ✌️
Agreed!
Very nice and well thought of pair of rigs! Rabea's tone in particular caught me by suprise, while it could have benefited from a nicer amp for some of the near break up tones, but this is insanely good for a Without Busting video. Ed O'Brien's tone can be quite elusive too, especially with all the changes in gear, so I'm glad you went with a generic "good sounding" rig. It works well enough here, although it might not be that close to the album tones. Looking forward to the By Busting one!
FINALLY! I AM SATIATED! Good job fellas.
I appreciate you guys big time for all of these videos. Thanks for your time.
Actually the ricochet can do exactly the subterranean homesick alien jonny sound, it has the function of behaving as if it had the pedal control like the big whammy.... You absolutely dont need the mobius for that.
vitral es montaña true that. The mobius didn’t really get that sound in this video unfortunately
Solid effort, sounded really close to my ears. Thanks for all the great work! I'd love to see a sound like Bloc Party sometime :)
Sound like Toska :-)
Best version yet of this series. Very complex tones nailed.
Bring back the metal! Slayer, Megadeth, and anthrax.
Wow some of these tones were spot on. Excellent video!
Jimi Hendrix by busting the bank!!!
Right on the money with that Bodysnatchers riff👌
Santana BUSTING the bank!
Michael V A prs, soul food, and warm tube amp
I don't believe you, we should have Anderton's solve this argument with Santana By busting the bank.
Actually, he doesn't use the PRS in the studio. More often, he's using a mid-60's Strat or a Yamaha SG-2000. But he does use the PRS exclusively live.
Derpimus Maximus interesting...but just to be sure we should get Matt and Bea on the case.
this is not too difficult to achieve, there are already numerous players on youtube whos able to get his tone whether be it using a prs se, les paul or the private stock ones. the amps are not difficult as well, you mostly need a 6L6 tube and boost the mids with a slight overdriven tone.
That was great! I haven't listened to much Radiohead, but it was interesting seeing how you used the pedals to change your tonal palette.
On an unrelated note, it might be interesting to see you guys try to do a "Sounds Like" with a Line 6 Spider amp of some sort. They get a ton of crap from just about everyone, but they're also pretty much the most common amps out in the wild. I'd love to see if you guys could pull some good tones out of one without relying on pedals or if it's just a lost cause.
Please do a Hendrix and SRV by destroying the bank with big ass amps and expensive ass guitars..
Fantastic job, think thats the most accurate 'sound like' I've heard you do. Pretty much nailed it 👍
do Sounds like The Replacements
yes plase!
Great job! Fantastic that Pablo Honey got some love! I never understood the hate for that album.
Sound like Weezer, Mac DeMarco, or Pavement!
Obama Care I agree so much with this
i thought the 2nd request was the guitarist from King Crimson for a second, but that's Robert Fripp & Adrian Belew
lmao my bad, but they should do a Sound Like King Crimson
