I think Melodious deserves a mention. Just got top 8 at a 300 player regional last weekend, so it's been proven that a genuinely competent player can still do really well with it. It's also just really good into many Ryzeal decks
Unfortunately you are pretty spot on about the new Evil HERO support in Supreme Darkness, the new support specfically 2 of the cards, the new prison and Evil Assault, are very good into the lower impact hand traps which helps a lot but we still lose to the high impact ones just like pre-support. Still a decent wave though making some of our combos easier to perform by not needing a specific discard anymore. Thanks for the video Josh!
Please stop playing mermail. That deck ONLY exists to ruin someone else's tournament. You're not going to top with it, it's mathematically improbable to win the die roll 30 times in a row. Mermail ONLY wins going first, or if opponent is terrible, or if opponent bricks. Just stop it. It's not a good deck.
@@JakobDahmannsee my comment. It only works going first and wins in the most degenerate way possible. If you're playing this deck at an event you're just trolling.
@@joshuasanders4302I honestly would rather play a game to have fun and enjoy myself rather than to win. Not like the rewards for winning or even topping an event are any good. Let others have their fun and change your apparent fixed mindset.
It is so mental to me that Atlantean Mermail is not included but Argostars, Ritual Beast and Heroes are included. I am so salty and depressed right now.
Im loving White Forest Azamina a ton this format. At first the 2 decks couldn't bridge into one another, but now both archetypes can bridge into each other, netting for more combo routes and GAS. White Forest bridges into Azamina via the new WF card and Snake Eyes can bridge into WF via Chorozo!!! EX: Diabellstar + Azamina Mu Rcielago (which searches the new WF azamina girl) makes a Chorozo, then SS WF girl and synchro them into Rciela, then continue to combo off.
Tear, even with 4 separate engines that can independently ss themselves and eat hand traps, cannot consistently fight through the hand traps and can brick often and on a bad mill, can kill entire games. With this inconsistency, playing 12+ games in a row can lead to just random Ls
I came back to YGO during the Bystial/Branded/Despia era, since fusions and synchros were the mechanics I knew. Now I play Chimera. I am glad that they still make decks that feel like Oldschool YGO
Plugin essentially serves the same function as Eclipse Twins (except of course that its harder to access since duo drive has to resolve). That being said, if you do get to it, you can wind up using plugin to make your end board stronger while still having the detonator revive with eclipse twins. I guess you could make an argument for cutting plugin, but i dont know if thats the play since having access to both plugin AND eclipse twins helps give the pure variant the grind game capacity it desperately needs vs fiendsmith decks.
Crystron is able to play under or through a number of handtraps such as Droll, Nibiru, Fuwalos, Meowls, and the like with a single card. I have a combo guide showcasing standard combos as well as lines for playing through all the handtraps above and more if anyone is interested!
@@gabrielgois8724 Lancea and Dimension Shifter are definitely the best handtraps against Crystron, you do play slightly better under Lancea than Maliss typically does, since your able to set up an interruption or two consistently while also setting up plenty of follow up and play 17 to 18 non engine which should help stop your opponent from winning on their turn, and you should also be side decking into Crossout Designator and Called By The Grave to stop Lancea or Dimension Shifter from resolving. Lancea and Dimension Shifter not being main decked this format significantly helps the deck since Crystron can play through most other handtraps or interruptions with just their engine!
My favorite deck is Reptiles Pile and Mitsurugi is gonna fit right in, I'm so happy to see some good new Reptiles! But I'm also pretty excited about Argostars, even if it's not quite strong yet, the slower control playstyle looks fun to me. Gladiator Beasts and Primite also look interesting. Overall this is the set I've been the most excited about since I've started playing TCG!
I am so excited for this format. So many playable and good decks out there and also so many decks where the peak-potential isn’t even fully explored yet. I’m still convinced that a deck like Maliss has still more power to come in the upcoming months. The only thing I’m still a bit concerned about is the viability of Fiendsmith. Yes, it’s beatable and yes it’s not he super-annoying-type stuff, but we still have to keep an eye on it because one single deck or engine shouldn’t be absolute Tier 1 for too long.
Crystrons are a nice engine, one Inclusion gets you either Cydra Infinity or a River Stormer with a token body. So for earth machine piles you can search any earth machine in the game, and turn the token into clockwork knight then link up into ballista to search two more monsters. All without your normal.
Deck destroys almost all the popular handtraps, even fuwalos. As long as your non engine can efficiently out ryzeal boards, you can win consistently. You can beat bystials pretty easily. Also ext ryzeal even better in vv than it is in fiendsmith ryzeal.
@rootdogg3424 that was my first impression too but after further testing I've actually found the ryzeal fiendsmith match up pretty good. Outing their board is actually quite easy with targeted non engine, and vv is naturally quite strong into most common non engine this format. It can also full combo with zero draws under fuwa. Just needs a strong secondary engine like ryzeal. Ryzeal Voiceless won events in ocg this format for a reason.
Josh you should try out the metalmorph cards. I've been playing with a runic build that has super heavy and bystial cards. It has a great matchup against fiendsmith decks, doesn't care about the mulcharmys or bystials and is a lot of fun
I’m surprised there’s no mention of Drytron. It has a solid matchup into Maliss if you tech in Consecrated Light, and has gotten a few tops this format already.
I think twins being put into fs ryzeal will require a change in sequencing that allow for the card to be live so duo drive shouldn't be as much a factor moving forward
Looking forward most to mitsurugi. I am not willing to buy a Fiendsmith Engine, but want another engine for my Ryzeal cards that for sure will not be banned in a few weeks
Crystron feels like a decent deck. But it does have weakness to Lancea and can slightly have a weaker board due to Ashing either Sulfador or Tristaros. But it makes the deck great thanks to Clockwork Knight, getting access to Therion Regulus and can make Cyber Dragon Infinity within 5 summons
As a former branded player i urge you to try chimera this format. Branded catches the stray of everyone side decking d barrier because of ryzeal, and despite the fact that it can still lock, bystials are also everywhere so it's not good. Hold on to it because it will be relevant again once these decks go away, but right now is not a good time for it. If you do stick with it, I think the azamina variant is the best way to play it to play around ash blossom.
i feel like generaider runich is being massively underrepresented by josh. Pretty confident he's not talking about that deck so he can just sweep worlds with it.
No one seems to be talking about the fact that the wording on Eclipse Twins. It is missing the and if you do PST that the OCG has makes the card a bit weaker in this format
What is with this set lol, the new primite monster also has different text to the OCG version. OCG version says "during your standby phase" whereas ours says "during THE standby phase"
Josh perptuating HERO dies to Nib lol. Maybe I am missing something but I feel like the deck has tons of lines around Nib. Or is he referring to after getting handtrapped a couple of times and THEN getting Nibiru where you end on literally nothing?
Argostars + Silouhatte Rabbit and that snake trap lady >.>; Might actually be cooking with hella negates and spell and trap pops. Labyrinth counter for sure.
I think I'll play Branded until my White Forest Toys is completed. Definitely I'll try Azamina White Forest with the release of new Elzette and Fusions.
So how come people are saying it's okay to splash fiend Smith in every single deck, But Maliss is a problem? You would think the engine that's being abused domestically would be the actual problem.
In case you give chimera a shot, ive been singing this decks praises lately. The new support now gives us an in engine bridge to the azamina engine, which bridges all 3 in its uninterrupted combo. We also get a quickplay that isn't constrained to the main phase now with the sinful spoils fusion spells. And then to top it off, a-bo directly buffs every deck that can remotely play a fiend somewhere.
