I kinda thought the knives around Siuan looked like fileting knives, such as the type a fishmonger's daughter would use to gut fish...but maybe that's just me ;)
3:12 I love that you lingered on this frame. This expression on Madden's face, this right here is why she deserves an Emmy, and a lifetime of A tier roles. This complexity in expression cannot be faked. You can read shame, outrage, disgust at the Seanchan, disgust at her self, despair, and determination all in one expression. The ONLY way to achieve an expression on Egwene al'Vere's face for the viewers to see and understand, and believe, the human being Madeleine Madden has to actual feel those things. Madden fully internalized Egwene's experience, fully lived inside the reality of being broken by the collar, and gave it to us in pure, unvarnished truth. This was a HUGE ask for a young actor to delve into this level of darkness, to explore this level of pain, and for what it's worth she has my personal gratitude. She is a master, and she is Egg forever.
She. Is. Absolutely. Egwene. I’ve watched 4 times now and cried just as hard every single time. She is perfect. She loves this role and it shows. As a book fan since the beginning, Egwene was one of my favorites right up through the end, and I cannot imagine a better Actor. Un. F’ing. Real. 😊
It didn't even occur to me to think about Min's vision in relation to Rand's wounds, but now that you mention it, it seems like a very clean way to handle that plot thread. Rand gets poked in his fight with Ishamael at Falme. No one can figure out how to heal the wound. Moiraine mentions that their last desperate chance is the dagger, since its evil came into being in opposition to the Dark One's evil, but that whoever touches it will be cursed forever. Mat figures he's already cursed and takes care of it.
Noticed something on one of the earlier Season 2 episodes that stood out to me, and repeated in episode 6. You mentioned how each person embraces and handles the one power individually. When Rand embraces the source, the weaves cascade over his right eye first in the shape of the “Dragon’s Fang”. It’s happened twice now and, If this is a thing, I really like that little nod to his own way of embracing the source as the Dragon Reborn
My theory is that the intros were cut to provide as much time as possible for the show this season since there's not only more material to cover but also how episode quantity and length were criticized in season one
I like the way they use water as a symbol of the OP. Beginning of the series Eg has to surrender to the river. Beginning of this season Alanna is teaching how to filter water into a cup. Now Eg has to fill Renna's cup. The duality of giving Renna her power and the cup of water is just crushing
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought they were foreshadowing the sul'dam's secret with that scene! I also felt that Egwene was suspecting something too, especially since she's been part of a circle in the show. Excited for that reveal!
I totally agree. Amid all the horrible things happening to her in that moment Egwene suddenly looked thoughtful. My take was that she felt the same sort of connection to the sul'dam as she felt at the end of season 1 in the big link. Granted she did not have a lot of time to think about it after but I'm guessing that Egwene's look of determination at the very end of this episode was her going to Plan B, stop trying to actively resist and go with the flow and seem to play along until she had a chance to do something. If she is then being trained in the use of the one power as opposed to being tortured the Sul'dam who has already mentioned the creation of the collar might blab some more allowing Egwene enough information to put the pieces together.
I found the image of Lanfear in a wheel-like throne to be somewhat reminiscent of her initial plan that she proposes to Rand, to use the Choedan Khal together to defeat both the Dark One and the Creator and rule and all of creation. Seated on a wheel-like throne, Lanfear sees the Wheel and the Pattern as hers to conquer and rule.
How can she? Women aren't able to see a male's weave. It would take Rand to untangle Ishmael's weave. Maybe he could describe it to Siuan; she was an expert untangling knots as a child
@@carolbriscoe9337 You have a good point. My thinking was that she would feel the effect of the shield as it were a wound and she'd be able to heal the wound.
If Moiraine is really stilled like what she believed, they might as well let Nynaeve heal her by the end of this season. Ny's Talent for Delving seems to be precise. She knows if something needs Healing and how to Heal it (based on that scene with the a'dam). I think the show is making it like that because they don't have the time to show Ny tinkering and studying someone Severed in an attempt to prove that it can be Healed
I agree, she really conveyed that she truly believed she was being friends with Egwene and she felt such a connection when they were linked, and then the betrayal on her face when she realized Egwene still wanted to hurt her. She really shows someone who completely believes what she's doing is right.
Possible easter egg/plot line? - In addition to showing her power over Loial by getting him to tree-sing, Suroth also joked about gifting him to the High Lord Turok. If she were to do this as a possible means of regaining her place in society, it would also put Loial in close vicinity to the less guarded Horn of Valere.
My current Mat/Rand stabbing theory is that it’s from a flicker! If I’m remembering right Mat sees himself betraying his friends in some of his flicker scenes in TGH, and this would go right along with that. Also, last season Min had a vision around Rand holding a baby, and then he holds a baby in the alternate reality with Ishy… so it looks like Min in the show can see visions for things that don’t happen in their current reality. It feels like a long shot, but if I’m right I’ll be really excited!
When Ishamael is in Tel'aran'rhiod, he shimmers or flickers. Lanfear doesn’t which I think showcases her power in the world of dreams and is a bit of an easter egg. In the books, their clothes flicker which might look a bit daft on screen so this might be a better way to show talent in Tel'aran'rhiod
Lanfear's realm is Tel'aran'rhiod. Ishy's realm is The Ways. The appearances in rhiod is controlled only by channeling. So to conjure up Ishy and maintain the ambience requires a lot of concentration. Also when you conjure up a person to do your bidding their real self also is woven in. So it is extremely difficult to manipulate and project a mentally strong person to perform your whim.
I hope they won't go for Mat stabbing Rand, they already gave Mat enough emotional ballast to deal with. The shoulder piece representing the adam in the show is actually a real historical piece of armour called gorget. And halos although often associated with christianity are actually prechristian and found in a number of cultures across the globe (e.g. ancient Greece, Sumer, Hinduism and Buddhism) and sometimes made of light rays and signified not only holy people but also rulers and heroes. As we know Robert Jordan drew inspiration from many different cultures and religions. Someone noticed that Siuans daggers were moving like a school of fish reminiscent of her upbringing. Love this idea. And what an awesome visual!
I think another small thing was when Ishy flickered when speaking to Min, and I had to rewind to double check because it was so quick. I'm sure it represents how much control a person has in Tel-aran-rhiod. I'm sure we'll never see Lanfear or Moghedian flicker. I've read theories that Lanfear created Ishamael in that scene with Rand so as to banish him to prove to Rand she's been protecting him. Not saying it's impossible that she hadn't thought of everything, but Ish flickered in THAT scene also, which to me implies it was really him.
@@ladyreverie7027 Yeah, that's what I was saying. I've heard that theory, but the flickering implies to me it Is Ishy. And that it's not impossible for Lanfear to have thought of the flickers and created a flickery Ish, but I am guessing it was really him due to that.
@@anthonyferguson9282 I mean, there are 2 possibilities. 1 is that Ishy and Lanfear are working together, and he's agreed to be dismissed during a charade performed in front of Rand so that Lanfear can get her hooks in better. The second is that Lanfear is uncertain whether or not Rand has LTT's memories, and therefore recreates Ishy as accurately as possible, just to be safe. An interesting modification to the second would have been that Lanfear would recreate Ishy as *more* flickery, as she's disdainful of the other Forsaken's abilities in TAR and so exaggerates that.
I didn’t think they were showing Mat winning or being lucky. He was about to roll but then rand showed up and when mats back was turned everybody stole his money. I think they are reinforcing early on that he is very UNLUCKY which will make his future luck more impactful
The original "rainbows" theory I heard was a reference to the markings on a Portal Stone. In my head I know we're probably, very likely, almost certainly not getting flicker-flicker ... but my heart clings to hope
Moraine and stilling: It makes perfect sense that the series is setting up a scene where Nynaeve Heals Moraine’s stilling leaving Moraine permanently weakened in the power. Nynaeve will then Heal Logain and be shocked that he regains full strength. In the books, when Nynaeve heals Siuan and Leane (both women) they come back at half strength or less. Also in the books, when Moraine escapes the Tower of Ghenji, she finds that the Eelfinn and Aelfinn have permanently drained her so much that she has to use an Angreal to do anything useful with the power. RJ did confirm that someone Healed from severing has to be healed by the opposite gender to regain full strength,.
I'm still stuck on the idea that Moiraine is only tied off and Suian's cold open last season being extremely adept at undoing knots was set up to restore Moiraine.
But why would she intentionally heal Logain? She kind of does it by accident in the books, and it's how she works out the method to heal stilling/gentling/severing, so if she's already worked that out, what's the motive?
@@f0rth3l0v30fchr15t Maybe Rand will ask Nynaeve to heal Logain as well. Given that the show has already established a relationship between Rand and Logain, it wont be far-fetched to think that Rand will want Logain to be healed at some point.
If she is stilled (I still hope not), then this is what I expect to happen. One of my non reader ppl is convinced she'll come back "even more powerful"
@@bidossessi It was actually probably pretty cheap to shoot- just Lanfear's costuming, building a giant wheel, and a throne. The location was probably not expensive and they didn't have to dress the set
I'd be intrigued on a video during the off-season on: 1. Predicted storylines for Forsaken in future seasons - is it gonna be 2 freed a season? 2. How they will adapt the Mat/Tuon relationship. With how brutal the Seanchan are (correctly) shown to the audience, I really think they'll have to make some changes to this relationship for fans to not despise Tuon and through her, Mat.
Agreed 😒💯 **Spoiler** I think it's bullsh*t that the Seanchan basically get to KEEP their Damane at the end of the books - they just can't make any more of them or whatever. But the fact that a part of the "Dragon's Peace" is that they get to keep their slaves, is abhorrent. IDGAF that it was a part of their culture... that behavior can be overturned & unlearned, and Rand was powerful enough to enforce that, and SHOULD have. Sure it's funny that Mat ends up married to Tuon sort of by accident... but imagine ending up married to a Slaver & having slaves all around? I'm hoping that the show will change some of this plot line somehow, otherwise it's honestly not going to be make anything about that situation feel very positive. #Yikes
Hmm i hope they don’t. The conflict characters have about the Seanchan being beyond horrible but also bringing a-lot of prosperity to many and being a major factor against the shadow is one of the more interesting parts of the story. It mirrors our own “empires” America provides giant benefits and freedoms and security to so much of the world. The entire global shipping trade is protected by the US Navy and partners. We all benefit from this in some way, but like with the Seanchan we have to ask what’s the point if we also (fill in your favorite American atrocity) are we not the same as the Seanchan? And if they just make them all 100% bad all the time, I think that would be a miss. And Mat falling in love with the leader makes things even more conflicted and interesting. But you are prob right tv audiences when they see slavery in a fantasy story nuance goes out the window. Maybe they will use it as a chance to clean up the damane situation a little more, rather than leave it unfinished and open for the future. Like Tuon being convinced by May that she was wrong. I could see them doing that.
@@KabbalahSherry Moar spoilers incoming Rand's 3rd question for the Aelfinn was "how can I win the Last Battle and survive it?". His interpetation of the answer - "The north and the east must be one. The west and the south must be one. The two must be one. To live you must die" - is why he's not willing to force the issue with the Seanchan. As he sees it during those negotiations, his options are: a world with slaves but no Dark One; or a world where *everyone* is a slave to the Dark One. And so he accepts the lesser of two evils. As outside observers, the Dragon exists to fight the Dark One, not the evil that people bring into the world themselves.
Re hands: It shows Siuan's superiority that she doesnt need her fingers to channel and foreshadows Egwene's status when in EP1 she doesn't want to learn with her fingers only. Another Easter egg, Logain talks to Rand about "grabbing the power" which the books explain is how men channel whilst women "give in to the power/let it in".
My thoughts is that the girls won't return to the Tower after the battle at Falme. If the Tower coup will happen early in season 3, it will be unlikely that the girls will head there. We may see Egwene join Rand in the Waste, while Nynaeve and Elayne will search for the rebel Aes Sedai. Hopefully, during that search, they will run into Moghedien.
I like the introduction of treesinging, although the way Seanchan are treating the "gardeners" doesn't quite match up with what I remember from the series. I'm hoping this is introduced so that Loial can make a quarterstaff for Mat.
I wonder if the reference to gardeners was supposed to be a veiled insult. Like “hey slave I’m going to call you this name generally reserved for highly respected death watch guard members to remind you how low you are”. Clearly Loial would not understand but Suroth’s cronies would.
Sort of... We saw Egwene and Nynaeve and Lady Amalisa link at the end of the last season, so they combined power with one person directing it. The A'dam is more of an evil version of linking than the warder bond, but it definitely has aspects of the warder bond.
Suldam & Damane can only form a circle of 2. They can't link with others. Suldam _may_ also end up learning to channel by themselves because of their _use_ of Damane , which is is a flaw & is kept secret.
I think there might be a flicker flicker scene and I think that is mat stabbing Rand. In the books if I remember right. After flicker flicker Mat hugs Rand saying I will never betray you. That is the only way i see Mat stabbing Rand.
The leash is more like something produced by the one power…I like the way they incorporated how the saldame can be taught to channel with the leash of one power…
25:08 I also thought about the three oaths that the power can’t be used as a weapon except in the last extreme defense of an aes sedai or her warder. She was defending herself and grieving her warder.
On the issue of Siuan bringing 14 Aes Sedai I could certainly see it as a threat to Rand but I thought the numbers required to sever someone was reduced to 8. That is the number Lan said to Moiraine when she finally told him about the forsaken before they parted ways. She mentioned he was able to do what required 8 Aes Sedai it as easily as snapping his fingers to demonstrate her power. Maybe there is a different number required for male or females to be severed or maybe she is erring on the side of caution and bringing extra numbers, just in case.
Personally, I think Moiraine's sister is a dark friend and swore her oaths in order to get her son married to the queen to restore their family name. I think Barthanes was giving Moiraine a sandwich to try and break the ice with her. As he said he did it for her as a kid. It was poisoned because she ate it. She says she ate it when she apologized.
With Mat and the stabbing I think another possibility would be flicker flicker. Mat does get out of that sobbing to Rand that he'd never betray him. Could be that's a vision of betraying him. Or perhaps Ishamael tries to make him think that in the dream world. it's also a bit odd Ishamael knows about that vision, could be he faked it to try to get Min to keep them apart or something else.
Renna: I am SO looking forward to the scene when Renna gets collared. Renna was particularly vicious when she mocked Elaine and seriously deserves her come-uppance. The horror when Renna goes from Seanchan high elite to Seanchan non-person slave will be wonderful to see. Renna tells Elaine, paraphrasing, All your life you thought you were a person, with all the rights and freedoms of being a person, but that was just a lie. Now you’ve found out that you’re really just non-person tool used for channeling, and you’re less than dog shit under my shoe. Ah, Renna, your elite attitude is about to get shredded.
I thought about Fain using a weave to look like Mat and he would stab Rand but that doesn’t work because Min saw the vision on Mat - not Fain. If it wasn’t Mat who stabbed Rand, then why would she see that vision? If it’s not Mat, then it was probably Ishy who planted that vision on Min in order to manipulate her.
I'm hoping it has something to do with him not being fully healed and the dagger is still "connected" to Mat. So like, dagger and Rand - correct, dagger still being attached to Mat - yes, but dagger is going to be held by Fain. Because THEY CAN NOT DO THIS TO MAT.
My prediction is that it is a mask of mirrors, but on a Rand-impersonater that Mat sees through. We saw Lanfear disguise herself as Rand in the dreamworld. But she could do that irl too, either to herself or to someone else.
I loved that Renna used the term affinity. We see that so much in the books about knowing if another woman can channel. Hoping the carnival from Min’s viewing is part of the royal wedding. Maybe it’ll be moved forward so the Amerlyn can attend? Fireworks anyone?❤
We're not getting Semirhage, she has absolutely been merged with Lanfear. If there was any doubt at all, it should've been dispelled by Lanfear naming 2 other female Forsaken then referring to the remaining as the boys. Then the scene with Liandrin's son was 1000% Semirhage. It was a very good choice as this version of Lanfear is much nastier and much scarier than the jealous ex-girlfriend with a bad temper Lanfear in the books.
I saw the puppets in the street and thought there was about to be a Trolloc attack, but when it didn't happen I knew it was just going to be a callback to the book. I loved Loial singing.
I disagree with you about Moiraine's sister. I think it makes complete sense for the show for her to be a Darkfriend. Her motivation was to save House. I would rather see Moiraine's reaction to learning that her sister is a Darkfriend rather than her nephew. That said, as the show has gone out of the way to mention that Bartharnes is a good person at heart, I could see that as a great cover for him being a Darkfriend. I think it is likely that they are both Darkfriends or only Moiraine's sister is a Darkfriend. Out of the 4 options (all, none, Moiraine's sister, or Bartharnes is a Darkfriend), I think it less likely that only Bartharnes is a Darkfriend. I would be stunned if at least one of them is not a Darkfriend. I also think Moiraine did eat the sandwich. We just did not see it. When Moiraine apologizes, she said his sandwiches were and still are good. She would not have corrected herself if she did not eat the sandwich.
I think either Barthanes or Anvaere or both will be DF. I think Moiraine is shielded, and I think she will be healed by Rand or Nynaeve and I think she will return to full power tbh. I have a sinking feeling that when Siuan is deposed, she will be killed. I think Mat stabbing Rand is a flicker scene. One thing I can’t fathom is how Rand will defeat Turak in single combat. It’s gona have to be a total fluke I think - maybe a combo of that veteran, whatever Lan teaches him next episode and maybe use of the one power to help him focus or something. Otherwise I would not be opposed to Lan taking down Turak. Edited to add: Siuan might be able to untie her shield with other Aes Sedai lending their power- it would make sense with the foreshadowing in season 1 of her being able to untie knots
I think Lan will be surprised by Rands Swordfighting Skills next episode and Rand will explain to him that he learned a lot from a swordsmaster called Errol. Then Lan will continue Rands training and it will be enough to barely beat Turak.
Can't lie but I hope the concept that Min's visions always come to pass is changed for the show because Min mentioned in season one that she sees a circus when she was looking at EF5. Lol
Re: Min's vision of Mat and Rand. If Mat was "mirrored" by Fain or someone else, then it wouldn't have been a viewing of Mat--so I don't think that could happen, at least in the way they work in the books--or it shouldn't, but who knows what they've done with the "system" here... interesting idea though...
With respect to Moraine being stilled (or not), I was thinking that one thing that the show could be setting up is the Nynaeve healing of those who were stilled, and making it happen earlier than the books had it. Not sure but it could be interesting.
I am still in the shielded camp. I am thinking if Rand does not remove it, it may come off if we get the end of the GH with Ishy gets killed. This would likely work even if the show resurrects the same actor. Still hope we get transmuted characters as I do not like thinking about the series ending. Current Ishy actor is not how I see it end.
Could be, but I think it is more likely that they will have Nynaeve restore Morraine's ability to channel the same way she does for Leane and Siuane after they are stilled in the books. They will likely cut the Tower of Ghenjei plot and have Morraine's power be reduced by imperfect healing (since it takes Saidar to fully heal the ability to channel Saidin and Saidin to fully heal the ability to channel Saidar) instead of being drained by the Eelfin.
@@magister343 yeah more likely the show will take this route. Some of the more fantasy elements so far have not shown up like drakar and trollics other than the opening scene have been absent. I will still be hopeful for some version of the red door frame plot. They certainly built up the Lanfear/Moiraine tension this season. That said a super nova Nineave healing is, like it or not, something they have ground into us.
I doubt it will be someone who looks like mat stabbing Rand because min saw the vision over mats forehead which means that it is something that will happen with him directly!! Unless I completely misunderstood her powers from the book 😂
It's important to mention WHY Ryma was able to use the power to attack despite the 3 oaths. It wasn't super obvious that she didn't start offensively channeling until her Warder died.
As to the hand movements.. it you remember in season1 the Whitecloaks tied Egwene to the chair and the Questioner mentions that with her hands tied she could hardly hurt him, but he still had her channel or he would kill Perrin
It was also an subtle nod to Egwene's power as im sure other Aes Saedi and Warders have been captured and none had the power to free their Warder when asked to channel.
I have a feeling that the show will have Nynaeve restore Morraine's channeling ability the way she does Siuane's and Leane's in the books. They will likely also cut the Tower of Ghenjei plot and have her weakened by being stilled and healed by a woman instead of having power drained by the Eelfin.
I heard a theory that they might swap Moiraine and Siuan's story arcs in the show. Moiraine being stilled and joining the rebels while Siuan being killed for real. Since the show wants Rosamund Pike to be prominent in the show this is likely a possibility to keep her for the entire show length.
It is relevant in that Siuane Sanche being weaker means the sisters did not seriously consider reinstating her as the Amerlyn Seat, and that they underestimated her other abilities in running the eyes and ears network etc. That fact that Morraine gained such a powerful Angreal basicly negated her weakened state. @@leza4453
I thought Siuan bringing 14 Aes Sedai was a nod to the fact that in TGH when Siuan shows up in Shienar prior to meeting Rand she brought 14 aes sedai with her
Have a theory for S3E1, at the start of the Episode all 3 girls are back in TV, possibly after Egwene and Elayne have been raised accepted. Siuan sends Nynaeve and Egwene on the BA hunt, and Elayne joins them, they leave the WT and at this stage Egwene starts entering TAR where she meets Amys who then tells her to come to the Waste, Nynaeve and Elayne continue the BA hunt.
I loved and hated the theory of a non-book reader, that Elayne was a darkfriend. Like, yeah be suspicious of everybody, but nooo not my favourite girl...😢😂
No, an "Easter Egg" refers to a small detail that isn't relevent to the media, but has significance to people "in the know". The Sitter is unique to the show. There was no captured Blue Sitter at Falme in the books, so thus, no "Easter Egg"
@@bbbl67the Sitter was in the first season meeting up with Moiraine in a bath in Tar Valon and basically ordered Moiraine back to the Tower for good, hence the exile from Siuan. The Sitter said that she will ride to the west to investigate an invasion.
@@leza4453 All correct. And hence, the reveal of the Sitter in the next sell would be more properly classified as a "callback" than an Easter Egg. The scene in Season 1 where the Sitter talks about going west, while technically "foreshadowing" in terms on the show, actually probably COULD be (generously) called an Easter Egg, as at that time, this meant NOTHING to the show or its viewers, but readers In-The-Know understood the implications of that statement.
Nynaeve watching Ryma and her warder fighting is a mirrored scene of her as a girl watching her parents fight and die. Both times she was watching but was unable to help.
Re: hand movements while channeling and not being able to channel without them - kinda like trying to touch type under pressure if you’d never learned how to.
Another theory about mat stabbing rand: what if he takes the role of Alivia and is the one who kills rand's body at the end of Tarmon Gaidon so rand can go into Moridin's body? Doesn't Min see that Alivia kills him in the books?
I think what Min interpreted in her vision is that Alivia "would help Ran die", so others interpreted that as meaning she would be the one to kill him.
I thought there were scenes where Min dislikes Alivia, and says that it is because she is going to kill Rand, and Rand corrects her and says that her actual words were that Alivia would help Rand die. This could be a similar thing?@@realitia
@@Mrsangeandbella Yes, right. That's it. It was Rand that reminded her what she actually said after her vision, but of course Min was protective of Rand and it was she who thought her vision meant Alivia would kill him. Thanks for jogging my memory! :)
The Easter egg of Egwene setting the tree on fire. How she could delve in earth and find the roots foreshadowing how she is strong with earth where she can find metals.
I think we're going to get 8 Forsaken. The most likely: Ishamael: already in Lanfear: already in Moghedien: namedropped Graendal: namedropped Mesaana: will probably get combined with Moghedien, since they play similar roles Semirhage: will probably have Lanfear take over her parts (sad, since Semirhage is my favorite of the Forsaken), since it's not too far out of Lanfear's character if they turn up the unhinged factor as the series progresses "The Boys": we'll see 4 (so 5 of the 8 male Forsaken) Aginor: nope; already past his main appearance, and they get easily hand-wave him creating Shadowspawn by just saying they all come directly from The Dark One. Might see Osan'gar as a random Darkfriend Asha'man. Asmodean: probably not, since Logain is filling his main role...would replace Bel'al if he is in the series, IMO (#5) Balthamel: see Aginor; might see Aran'gar as a random Black Sister Bel'al: pretty important, so yes (#4) Demandred: incredibly important (#2) Rahvin: incredibly important (#1) Sammael: very important (#3)
Min says she see's the jeweled dagger... I can assume that .. SHE is assuming Matt does it. A hand thrusting .. the dagger .... As you said her visions are true.. but it could still be Padin Fain at this point
I also like the discussion if Leanfear fabricated a fake Ishy, because im not shure if she has the confidance to dismiss him like that. He also could be in tho.
Still trying to figure out why the showrunners made Loial look like a Vegas pimp. He's lost half his communication skills without twitching ears and knee-length eyebrows.
I forgot to point to an Easter egg from episode 5 about the Suldam secret. When Suroth is talking to Liandrin she says something like "We respect the one power so much that we do not believe a damane should wield it from birth." I believe the writers put in that last part for us fans because the seanchan literally do not know you don't have to be born with the spark, but can learn it later in life.
I just had a thought about Moraine being "stilled": I heard rumours that the actress of Siuane will not continue for many seasons. So maybe they just kill her off, instead of her having her own quest. So maybe they use the Nyneave healing stilling scene with Moraine instead. I hope not but it does make sense to me.
I think Padan Fain stabs Rand with the dagger and Min's vision is actually Mat rescuing Rand by taking the dagger out. Mat touching the dagger again will make him very sick and trigger the arc that makes Mat Mat in the books
It will be interesting if Egwene gets free in the next episode? May happen in Episode 8. I think Rand will balefire Ishy in episode 8 and Moiraine will get her powers back. As a book reader it is frustrating to see some of these alternate story lines, however this season (especially the last 2 episodes) the show has been much better and hopefully it continues..
missed was the reference to Lanfear as being "Daughter of the Night" , given that she says "there are many ways to walk through the night" and also how that ties together with the oaths the Black Ajah have to swear after renouncing the Three Oaths. This of course foreshadows what Verin does much later on in the series and thar you indeed literally cannot renounce the Black Ajah oaths... Whereas the "standard" Three Oaths kind of can be 'done away with' Also, having jyst rewatched much of the episode, i totally think Moiraine does not even know whether she has been stilled, shielded or what have you.... Surely otherwise she wouldnt have scrapped her parchment, nor would the scene with Lan and Siuan straight after play out the way it does... I.e. with it not being shown what actually ends up in the letter and Lan making it all about Moiraine when he has just revealed the central secret they have protected for 20 years. Obviously Lan is concerned for Moiraine, but i think these conclusions are not mere coincidence....
I had thought rather than Egwene using fire with Renna, I had thought she would discover she has an affinity for earth in that scene. In the books, while collared, Egwene discovers she has an affinity for earth and then learns she will be sent back to Seanchan as very few damane have this affinity. She would be too valuable to remain in Falme. I guess we will see that affinity in episode 7 or 8. I am not sure whether she will be rescued in episode 7 or 8.
I don't know how relevant the affinity-to-earth-rarety thing will be in the show. Moiraine weaponized the Winespring Inn on the first episode and we have seen "landmines" in the fight against Logains army.
I like how Ryma Yellow sister used her knowledge of the human body to fight, she unhealed those suldam pretty rough.
UnHealed!😂😂😂 That's now going to be my entire head canon description for a Yellow Ajah's battle weaves.
Man I wish there were more episodes in each season. I feel like having so little episodes is a huge limiting factor.
This right here.
I kinda thought the knives around Siuan looked like fileting knives, such as the type a fishmonger's daughter would use to gut fish...but maybe that's just me ;)
They do look special in any case!
Fishguts! how did I miss that?! :D
...and around her like shoaling fish.
First time I saw the knives, I thought they kinda looked like am evil queen getup.
I saw them as a Crown of Swords at first and then a school of ravenous fish when they turned 🤷🏼♀️
Yesss 🥹💯
She. Is. Absolutely. Egwene. I’ve watched 4 times now and cried just as hard every single time. She is perfect. She loves this role and it shows. As a book fan since the beginning, Egwene was one of my favorites right up through the end, and I cannot imagine a better Actor. Un. F’ing. Real. 😊
100%. A truly incredible performance.
I’m just gonna say you get points for predicting the plot of the finale but in reverse lol
Oh good observations, I like that
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought they were foreshadowing the sul'dam's secret with that scene!
I hadn't fully realized until now that the a'dam works specifically by forcing a link with 1 channeler in control 🤯
This was my thought as well.
I liked the way Nyn's delving ability was introduced with the a'dam. Makes me wonder if she'll be the one to delve Moraine and remove the shield?
Moiraine thinks she is stilled (as she wrote in the letter)
@@carolbriscoe9337 I thought the restriction was on man's channeling. You could probe, find the shield and untie it
by the power of grey skull, that sul dam was amazing, the way she looked at egwene as if she loved her was chilling.
I agree, she really conveyed that she truly believed she was being friends with Egwene and she felt such a connection when they were linked, and then the betrayal on her face when she realized Egwene still wanted to hurt her. She really shows someone who completely believes what she's doing is right.
This episode's writing is so clearly the best so far! Props to the writer, Rammy Park!
@@Simplepencildrawings- Oooh, you got me curious now! 😂 lol
Great point!
I'm starting to wonder if that's going to be Rand's unhealing wound, not something Ishy does.
Unless maybe it was never Ishy in the Tel'aran'riod and was always Lanfear all along?
I thought the same thing when I saw the glitchy Ishy!
My theory is, that the glitching Ishy is always fake. So we would learn that it was Lanfear speaking with Min.
Siuan in the carriage was wearing a crown of swords
I didn’t think they were showing Mat winning or being lucky. He was about to roll but then rand showed up and when mats back was turned everybody stole his money. I think they are reinforcing early on that he is very UNLUCKY which will make his future luck more impactful
But he says before the new bet that it must be hard for the others losing all their money, implying that he was in fact winning.
@@jelgerwoudstra9640he also says that in his first scene in the wine spring inn, where he is in fact losing every roll. It’s just his banter.
@@jelgerwoudstra9640 maybe he was winning, we’ll see if he’s lucky yet or not in time
I got so excited when L called him Ishy! 😂
I don't think it is important to the plot that Moiraine would be weaker after healing stilling
Rand actually being tied to the wheel in the dream is anything but subtle lol.
Yeah I don't understand how that whole setup was relevant. Felt like a lot of money for little utility.
@@bidossessi It was actually probably pretty cheap to shoot- just Lanfear's costuming, building a giant wheel, and a throne. The location was probably not expensive and they didn't have to dress the set
I think the nephew being named Barthanes is a red herring, and the sister will be the dark friend.
I'd be intrigued on a video during the off-season on:
Agreed 😒💯
**Spoiler**
I think it's bullsh*t that the Seanchan basically get to KEEP their Damane at the end of the books - they just can't make any more of them or whatever.
#Yikes
Those are great! I would love to see content exploring both of these topics as well.

Rand's 3rd question for the Aelfinn was "how can I win the Last Battle and survive it?".
I mean...I still despise that part of the books and hated Tuon throughout lol.
Rand throwing up after hold so much of the power is a total Easter egg!
Do you think Ishmael was really in Rand’s dream - OR Lanfear manipulated the dream so Rand thought she was protecting him from Ishmael?
Re hands: It shows Siuan's superiority that she doesnt need her fingers to channel and foreshadows Egwene's status when in EP1 she doesn't want to learn with her fingers only. Another Easter egg, Logain talks to Rand about "grabbing the power" which the books explain is how men channel whilst women "give in to the power/let it in".
I just realized, I think it might be Mat that's going to give Rand the unhealing wound, not Ishy. Just cause of the Min viewing.
obsessed with this season
14:08 • I also really love how they write using the Old Tongue Letterforms (;
A non-reader watching the episode with me remarked how the a’dame was an evil version of the warder bond. Is that what Robert Jordan aiming for?
@@malalford Spoiler alert! That's a big secret to drop.
I think there might be a flicker flicker scene and I think that is mat stabbing Rand. In the books if I remember right. After flicker flicker Mat hugs Rand saying I will never betray you. That is the only way i see Mat stabbing Rand.
They've introduced the idea of Compulsion a couple of times now, so it's possible Ishy compels Mat to do it
The leash is more like something produced by the one power…I like the way they incorporated how the saldame can be taught to channel with the leash of one power…
25:08 I also thought about the three oaths that the power can’t be used as a weapon except in the last extreme defense of an aes sedai or her warder. She was defending herself and grieving her warder.
Thanks for all your work Jon. What an epic episode that was.
For me the pattern of killing an important tree is interesting last season and now the one Egwane see during her captivity
Huh, I’m blanking on what tree met an unfortunate end last season. Which episode was this?
@@catc8927 episode one the tree in the middle of two rivers was blasted by lightning during the battle
That was all I could think during those scenes - how great it's going to be when that collar goes on HER neck. (Psst - Egwene, not Elaine :) )
Elayne is the one with the blonde hair with Nynaeve. Egwene is the one that’s captured.
It's been implanted on Mat by Ishy somehow. It explains how he knows about it.
I agree. I think they merged Lanfear & Semirhage... from what you said and because Lanfear is wearing black and not white.
Don't you mean "We're not getting Sarah-majj"? ;)
I agree
I saw the puppets in the street and thought there was about to be a Trolloc attack, but when it didn't happen I knew it was just going to be a callback to the book. I loved Loial singing.
Ishy without doubt shielded and tied off the weave. Foreshadowing Dumais Wells.
The Red Herring Sandwich of Betrayal!
@@Rattatoskr Yeah good call. I'm sensing Lan schools him before presenting to the Amyrlin so hopefully some sword training as well!
I'm wondering if Rand will eventually see the shield on Moiraine & be able to untie it, setting up his eventual escape from the Red Ajah later...
I totally missed Lanfear saying Ishy. Lol
With respect to Min's vision of Mat, I don't think it will be a doppelganger of Mat since she sees the vision on Mat himself.
You are doing great! I love your videos
Can't lie but I hope the concept that Min's visions always come to pass is changed for the show because Min mentioned in season one that she sees a circus when she was looking at EF5. Lol
Yeah - Valan Luca & co are annoying
Your Videos are blowing up!!! Well done Jon!!!
I've been waiting all weekend for this video, yeah!
Me, too!
Fun fact: As a costumer myself, I have Lanfear's bodice fabric in my stash. hahaha!
Re: the 14 Aes Sedai, I wonder if they are counting Moiraine in that number... or do they know she is there?
With respect to Moraine being stilled (or not), I was thinking that one thing that the show could be setting up is the Nynaeve healing of those who were stilled, and making it happen earlier than the books had it. Not sure but it could be interesting.
I love listening to your videos after watching the show! My husband read the series 2x, and I’ve just downloaded the new audio books read by Moirane!
I'm ready to see Loial put a long handle on his ax. 😁
Sorry end third book, though show is mixing up books 2 and 3
Could be, but I think it is more likely that they will have Nynaeve restore Morraine's ability to channel the same way she does for Leane and Siuane after they are stilled in the books.
That moment where Rand hears Mat gambling sort of mirrors when Rand over hears Thom in the Great Hunt
My bet on Mat stabbing Rand is its in a Flicker scene on their way to Falme
@@smol6193I like that theory! It would make sense.
I don't think it is in any way important to the plot, that channelers healed from stilling/ Moiraine after Genji have less power
Whilst they look spectacular if Rafe is struggling for time, id drop the intro all day long.
Something I would like to see is are videos that talk about the different theories people are coming up with especially non book readers.
I loved and hated the theory of a non-book reader, that Elayne was a darkfriend. Like, yeah be suspicious of everybody, but nooo not my favourite girl...😢😂
Thanks for posting another video, just started it. Can't wait to finish.
What about the reveal at the end of this episode about Egwene's cellmate being a sitter of the Blue Ajah? Isn't that an Easter egg?
No, an "Easter Egg" refers to a small detail that isn't relevent to the media, but has significance to people "in the know".
The Sitter is unique to the show. There was no captured Blue Sitter at Falme in the books, so thus, no "Easter Egg"

Then someone has to explain who this person is? Where did this even come from?
It took me a few seconds to realize which forsaken you meant by “Samarash.” lol
I’m still trying to figure it out?!
Great job BN🍻
Re: hand movements while channeling and not being able to channel without them - kinda like trying to touch type under pressure if you’d never learned how to.
Could Moriane stilling be a set up for Nynieve to heal her in the place of Siuan from the books?
this season has made me start the audio books although i need rosamund pike to read some more!
In the Amazon WOT Origins shorts, you see an Ogier create a toy boat from a tree.
Alivia gives him money and a horse to disappear
@@Mrsangeandbella Yes, right. That's it. It was Rand that reminded her what she actually said after her vision, but of course Min was protective of Rand and it was she who thought her vision meant Alivia would kill him. Thanks for jogging my memory! :)
I literally posted about the shield on Mo just like you did on Twitter (not X) before watching this, so agree with your idea about it.
The Easter egg of Egwene setting the tree on fire. How she could delve in earth and find the roots foreshadowing how she is strong with earth where she can find metals.
17:20 For me the real easter egg with this epic Siuan moment was the title: A CROWN OF SWORDS, for book 7 of the series.
Here is a “What If” video recommendation: What if the aes sedai who bonds Rand (we know who) turns out to be a dark friend?
That would not make sense with the "confronting Lan"-scene. The whole purpose of that scene was to proove to him that she is trustworthy.
Min saw Mat in the vision. She couldn't have seen someone else masking themself as Mat or anyone else since the vision is specific to Mat
I think we're going to get 8 Forsaken. The most likely:
Ishamael: already in
Lanfear: already in
Moghedien: namedropped
Graendal: namedropped
Mesaana: will probably get combined with Moghedien, since they play similar roles
Semirhage: will probably have Lanfear take over her parts (sad, since Semirhage is my favorite of the Forsaken), since it's not too far out of Lanfear's character if they turn up the unhinged factor as the series progresses
"The Boys": we'll see 4 (so 5 of the 8 male Forsaken)
Aginor: nope; already past his main appearance, and they get easily hand-wave him creating Shadowspawn by just saying they all come directly from The Dark One. Might see Osan'gar as a random Darkfriend Asha'man.
Asmodean: probably not, since Logain is filling his main role...would replace Bel'al if he is in the series, IMO (#5)
Balthamel: see Aginor; might see Aran'gar as a random Black Sister
Bel'al: pretty important, so yes (#4)
Demandred: incredibly important (#2)
Rahvin: incredibly important (#1)
Sammael: very important (#3)
I was hoping matrims stabbing of Rand was in a flicker flicker, which was how they got from cairehen to falme in 2 episodes.
I just saw it, but look at Loial’s belt! It’s black and white with the ‘teeth’ kind of like on the aes sadai symbol
I predict that Morraine is stilled - most likely to then be healed by Nynaeve. Then we can get a similar plot to the Siuan storyline..
I just had a thought about Moraine being "stilled":
I heard rumours that the actress of Siuane will not continue for many seasons.
Funny that they're keeping the Odin motifs going with Mat.
missed was the reference to Lanfear as being "Daughter of the Night" , given that she says "there are many ways to walk through the night" and also how that ties together with the oaths the Black Ajah have to swear after renouncing the Three Oaths. This of course foreshadows what Verin does much later on in the series and thar you indeed literally cannot renounce the Black Ajah oaths... Whereas the "standard" Three Oaths kind of can be 'done away with'
Also, having jyst rewatched much of the episode, i totally think Moiraine does not even know whether she has been stilled, shielded or what have you....
