Thank you so much for showing all the transfers on all the rides at the parks. We’re taking my mom and sister with my family in 12 days. My sister has an above the knee amputation and will not be wearing her prosthetic. I know the cast members can’t help a lot but will they allow myself or my husband to help transfer her? Like if one of us were to somewhat pick her up, or us help her pivot on her other leg, etc. it’s something I haven’t seen a lot of info/videos on.

we have done all the parks now. If she is going to be in a wheelchair or scooter, the cast members will let you help them load and get off the rides. Depending on the ride, you may have to go first the cast members are very accommodating once they know that someone needs assistance. Some cast members can help a little, but do not rely on them for primarily helping you. Magic kingdom has a lot of cool rides, since we go so much you can reach out through email and I can answer more specific questions if you want. Do not forget to try to apply for advanced DAS ahead of time. Once you set up your account, each family member needs to do so, you can apply through your my Disney app. -A

Do you have questions about EVCs? We might be able to address those too.

@@Imaginary.Lemons looking for visuals on which rides you dont have to transfer to a pushchair to get thru the queue...like exactly how far can you take them.....i know for pirates at the queue entry you transfer to a chair and kilamanjaro safaris you can take an ecv right up to truck. . and ppl mover is walking only ...also tron you have to transfer to a chair first.
the park maps are clear as mud ...lol While they do show some very confusing symbolism. i wish they showed where to go ..do we do the enter thru the exit gift shop or somewhere else?
my big concern is we will have 2 ecvs and no one to push both transfer chairs thru the lines.

These rides will be designated in the accessibility guide that you can get at the front of the park. But, it’s important to note that sometimes the symbol is indicating that you can ride a wheelchair onto the ride or park your SUV and get on, while other times, there’s a long walk between where you park your ECV and where you get on the ride. For example, small world says you have to transfer to a chair, but you park your ECV less than 15 feet from the boat. TRON and Pirates have a bit of a hike -you are parking your ECV outside the building. I suspect Space Mountain has a hike too but we don’t do that ride so I can’t say for sure.
I’ll give a “dishonorable mention” to star tours and flight of passage as well. They don’t have a long walk exactly, but you’ll be waiting through the preshow/waiting area without your ECV so you either need a chair or to be comfortable standing for a few minutes.
Now if you are renting, you might consider renting a chair like the one Aadam uses in the videos instead of an ECV. That one can go all the places a manual chair can go (with the exception of riding the magic Carpets). If you want help, we can help you book one through our travel planning services. The cost is comparable to an ECV rental.
Also, thanks for the video idea. Adding it to the list.

@@Imaginary.Lemons thank you so much for the info....LOL..like i said about the maps ....clear as mud..LOL
I was considering the power chair but my problem is getting my feet up and down on the foot rests without help(. I have it if needed but not fair to others with us every 10 minutes or so or those waiting for the ride behind us. I try to be as independent as possible . plus i need an extra wide one ..your girl is hippy ...LOL..well the other half would say i have a big butt , i prefer hippy ...LOL
i did see one video about Ride of the Resistence and it shows handing off her ECV , in the comments someone mentions you still have to walk /stand for a bit (maybe 5 minutes ) after that. sigh , not happening .. Small world i should be able to do as long as i can use my cane and get on the split seat boat..stepping down into things would probably result in me taking a nice refreshing dip in the water there ...yech ..
We are headed down in Sept. as a sort of last hurrah before i get too bad to travel. You are welcome to use me as a guinea pig for your videos...lol

From one hippy girl to another, I hear you! We can report back on Rise at the end of the month.
Regarding the powerchair, some of them have a rotating seat, like a scooter, so you could just swivel to the side and not worry about moving the footplate to stand up -- if that's what you meant you were worried about. And some of them have capacity to 450 and liftable armrests.
As for small world, you might be able to get them to help you roll onto the boat in one of their chairs. Then you avoid the step-down all together. Same with Living with the Land and Three Caballeros. All other boats are stressful and I wouldn't recommend them. We'll have a "boats" video out in a few weeks and that will let you see the easy ones and the challenges. I thought poor Aadam was going to go swimming on Pirates. No thanks!
Thank you for the support of our videos. We are finalizing our list for our next content trip now, so if you have any other ideas, let us know!
