I just noticed Etsy is charging me a .20 cent auto-renew fee for each item I sell with Printify, even though the item is not sold out. Each listing shows a quantity of 999 for each item each color each size What is is that about? Is there anyway to get around this? They already charge a shipping transaction fee of 6.5% of shipping total and a processing fee of 3% PLUS .25 cents for the total AND another transaction fee of 6.5% of item total for EACH SHIRT SOLD. I just made a whopping $5.72 TOTAL PROFIT for the sale of TWO Gildan 5000 T-Shirts. You should do a video about all these Etsy fees, it is getting ridiculous.
Same, it came as a shock to be honest and I cant find an answer. If a listing fee is made for 4 months then that should be it. To then charge on each sale doesnt make sense and even though Im set to manual renew it has automatically reset the expiry date for another 4 months! Dont see the point in manual option if they are going to this automatically every time it sells! Frustrating! Im new, made 2 sales and I cant see how people make money doing this now, its fee after fee after fee.
One month into my store, and you have helped me understand what is happening in my monthly statement. Also, I will switch all to Manual now, since I understand your reasoning!
Thank you so much for making this clear for me. My wife went to art school, she now is making designs for kids to learn and color. Im trying to help her out selling her ideas. I was looking at this in etsy and I said wait hold up, 20 cents automatic fee hahahhah. Good luck for everyone that's doing this.
Hi. I like your video. But I got a question, if let's say I sell all my 999 quantity of the listed product. Does it automatically renew or does it wait for the end of the four months to renew?
Hi. My question is that if I don’t renew a listing for a while. For example a Valentine’s Day listing, I don’t renew until next valentines. Does it loose its ranking in ETSY algorithm?
Hey cool video I have few questions I'm new with Etsy I'm selling digital artwork I know the basics every listing fee is twenty cents. What I did notice I didn't notice before that each listing have a auto renewal on them what I don't understand is . Do they charge you twenty cents after the four month period is up if the item doesn't sell or do they charge you anyway if it doesn't sell. Because I'm looking at your video and it gave me a bit of ease but I'm still confused do they still charge you even if you switch. All items to automatic or manually so let's say all my items doesn't sell for a year and I put them all on manually do they charge you still would that mean I would have to list the items all again then they would charge you 😂😂😂😂😢😢😢 see the confusion .
What is up with listings that are set on manual renewal. Every time a listing is sold etsy still auto renews those listings. Some items I sell multiple times a day, so every time there's a sale I pay 20cents. Adds up quickly. Total cheat. My items are cheap as its digital. Not much left... wonder how it is when I put it all on auto renew. You know more about this?
Does Etsy charge to relist after every sale of each listing ??? For example, if someone buys one of your designs and the quantity drops from 10 to 9 you get charged to "relist" to reflect the updated quantity of 9??? I'm so new and trying to figure out how etsy works lol help
Yes Etsy charges the $0.20 listing fee each time you sell an item that has a quantity greater than 1, so that $0.20 charge is part of the total fees you need to consider when pricing products if you sell print on demand and list your products with the intent of relisting after each sale. Fee calculators are very helpful for this, like the Alura Etsy fee calculator. www.alura.io/resources/etsy-fee-calculator
How much does Etsy charge to renew for the next four months? Is it true that after the initial listing Etsy charges $0.20 per item sold? Is there a way to avoid this charge? Thanks
This is better than 40 listings for free - well, I guess. Question. Can you choose "manual" for every single item that you have? I'm a newbie here Thanks...
Hi! Yes, you can set every new listing you create to manual renewal. You can also use the bulk edit feature on your listings page in the seller dashboard to change a bunch of listings from automatic to manual if you already created them and want to change it.
Does anyone know how to relist expired listings from etsy? ifi do it on Etsy, printify marks it unpublished, if i republish on printify it creates a new etsy listing duplicate/ Printify has been no help answering this.
Hi Just found your channel. Thanks for the great information!!! My question is if i have a holiday design that i do not renew ,i set to manual how long does that listing stay in expired? will it be there when the holiday rolls around again? I am fairly new to Etsy but am a long time Ebay seller and sometimes drafts vanish Thank You
Hi There! The oldest listing in my Expired Listings view says it expired in December 2020 but I opened my shop in August 2020 so I'm assuming they would stick around longer than that if my shop had been open for longer. This is exactly what I've done for my holiday designs the last two seasons! I set a calendar reminder to pop about 45 days prior to the major holidays so I remember to scan through my expired listings for relevant designs that I want to reactivate. Thanks for your support!
Thank you for the inside. The only slight problem is that with soo many products on one listing, you could not trigger scarcity , but on the other hand, I will miss the next customer when Etsy bumping up the item after sale. I sell digitals and I will go to manual from now on.Thanks!!!
i still dont fully understand, if i list something with a quantity of 1 and someone buys it then the listing has to renew automatic or manual right. but what if i put the quantity as 999 does it not have to renew after one sale so then i dont pay the 20 cents?
The automatic vs. manual renewal setting has no impact on listing renewal after a sale is made. The ONLY thing that controls renewal after a sale is the quantity you set for the product. If your quantity is only 1 and you make a sale, the listing will not renew, it will go into your "sold out" listings. If your quantity is more than 1, the listing will automatically renew after the sale and charge $0.20 until the quantity available gets to 0. The automatic vs. renewal setting is all about what happens if your listing does not make a sale for 4 months. After 4 months has gone by and your listing has not sold at all, the setting you choose will determine whether it gets renewed for $0.20 for another 4 months, or goes into your expired listings.
Ok, "manual" and "automatic" renew are understood. Curious as to what's better when it comes to quantity. Is it better to list it with 999, or 1? Completely new to the digital selling on Etsy. Any extra info is appreciated!
Hi! Normally I would say it's better to put the max quantity if you want to be able to continually sell the digital download with no maintenance to the listing because it will keep relisting after every sale until it runs down to 0. It would only be necessary to use a lower quantity if you have a specific strategy like doing limited runs of a product. For example if you were selling a digital design and wanted to do a limited run of 100, you could set it to 100 and then promote it on social media as "limited edition", etc. That would be a cool way to use the quantity to control something like that. But otherwise, if you're selling digital files that you intent to sell perpetually with minimal maintenance, putting the max quantity in would make sense. I hope that helps!
hi thanks for this info! Im new with etsy and Im having a similar problem. So Im selling plant clippings and I have the variations set up and added have the quantity to max out like you suggested but before i had it set to 1 and even tho i sold one clipping it sent my listing to inactive. I renewed it and they charged me the 20 cents. After I renewed it it still showed me that clipping as available. by switching the quantity will it keep the certain variation as sold out and keep my other variations available? I hope im making sense.
Hi! Yes, that should do what you're looking for. If you use the quantity field to update the ones that you want to offer, the listing should renew automatically when one is sold as long as the quantity of at least one product variant is still 1 or more, and any variants that are down to zero should show as sold out.
Hi! That is correct, Etsy charges a $0.20 fee to create the listing and then if you make a sale and the item is relisted (it will auto-relist if the quantity available is greater than 1) you again are charged $0.20.
Hi! When an item sells, it's the Quantity set in the listing that determines if it is automatically relisted. If your quantity is set to greater than 1 in the listing, it should automatically renew when it sells. My print on demand listings are all set to a quantity of 999 when I create them and I select the manual renewal option, and they automatically relist after each sale. I hope that helps!
So they were basically charging to me to "renew" when I had it on auto when technically my first .20 covers 4 months ! Smh ! Now I know ! Manual only!!!
@@PODinsights I don't think that's what she's alarmed about. Its the fact that you get charged 20c every time a listing sells even though 20c is supposed to cover you for 4 months.
But its actually 20c every time the listing sells, regardless if set on auto or manual, is that correct? I have all my listings set to manual but I get charged 20c each time someone buys each listing. It's not just a once per 4 months fee.
@@shannondelima3028 That is correct! Etsy charges $0.20 every time your listings are re-listed, which includes after each sale if you have a quantity greater than 1. The automatic renewal option only controls whether you will be charged $0.20 to renew when your listing does not sell for four months.
