Welcome to the mess that is my house 😂 I have been wanting to start this series for awhile and I'm excited and also nervous to share this journey with you all.
This is a chore that is very difficult for many people. They may tend to become attached to things, for a variety of reasons, and the process of paring down is painful. The only thing i have a hard time getting tid of is books. I love books, live for and in books, my life has been books since i was 4. Great ambition. Sending support!
I can definitely empathize, I don't think books will be something I will be able to part with, unless I end up with multiple copies of the same book. Thanks for the support 😃
I think you should toss all the cardboard boxes because USPS gives you free boxes to mail out items at a flat rate. Books you don't read or don't want, maybe you can donate to your local library.
Good tip on the boxes for sure... otherwise I might have ended up keeping them forever 😂 Also, great idea about donating books. I'm sure I may come across that I can donate when I organize my book shelves.
Thank you. I am still not brave enough to show the entire condition of the house, but I do plan on taking footage of it now and holding onto it share later after major progress has been made. Thank you for watching! 😊
Good morning Laura. I had so many boxes in storage that I finally cleared half, it's a huge project trying to organize. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Desert Creatures is on my TBR list. I like putting trinket trays by the entry way and (theoretically) dealing with everything in them once they are full.
If you are still tackling this, I’d recommend maybe having one large bin for keep items, one large bin for gift/sell/donate. Then once you’ve condensed it worry about housing the keep items!
We find cleaning absolutely therapeutic! We live in a tiny home and are forced to clean up behind ourselves as there is no room to let things build up haha.
Hi Laura! I'm watching these videos in reverse order today (watch time hours goal) but still find it helpful. Did you know clutter causes anxiety? I bet some of your kids teachers (especially the English teachers) would love those bookish items. I use my dump zone for presents for people I don't know really well but feel obligated to give gifts to & find it helpful during the year (random hostess gifts) but especially during the holidays.
Ooo I have never thought of a dump zone for presents, that is a good idea! I have started giving some of my stuff to the teachers I work with up at work. The other day I gave an entire Harry Potter box to one of the teachers who love it as much as me. The entire box was a repeat and I was happy to share with her.
Hi Laura! I'm sorry I didn't watch this sooner. My living room has a pile of boxes that looks like yours. Some unboxed/recorded and some not opened. 🫤 I'm tackling it little by little too. I'm having the same problem. No designated place for certain items. Have you found things that have expired? That's a tough one for me. That dot grid notebook would be good for some collage journaling if you start back up. Oh the Harry Potter display items. I have the same issues and complete empathy. I put trinket dishes on my crystal shelves and put crystals in them. It's a great start Laura, I'm rooting for you!
I also have a separate pile of boxes that I have that have not been opened up yet 😂 Currently there is 15 boxes I need to do 🤦♀️ I'll get them done eventually. Since I had to cancel so many, I don't get that much each month anymore. I do come across things occasionally that are expired, and other items that I know I have had for awhile but there is no expiration dates... those ones I have no clue about. Thanks for the tip on the trinket dishes 😊

I feel it! Where to put items is always the challenge. 😊
Yes!! Especially when we get so much.
Hi Laura, can't wait to see the Mess you are going to show us today with your cleaning out boxes!
It definitely is a mess 😜
You are brave. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing!

Yes it is! If you got half cleared out then you are doing fantastic! I can't wait for all mine to be cleared out.

HI Laura, Thanks for sharing.

Exposing my mess 💙

Tiny homes are really cool. I agree, cleaning and getting something accomplished is very therapeutic and much needed 😂

I use mine as soap dishes
That is a good way to use them!
