An unforgettable Flying Car scene in Fantomas film seen in 1969 along with my father who used to take me to English Films on Sundays being shown in Natraja Theatres in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India. From that time onwards I had been looking for this scene. But in vain. Now I am extremely happy to see this Fantomas Flying Car Scene.

We didn't have color TV when I was young, so as a kid I only saw Fantomas' skin as gray. Then when we bought a color TV, it was brutal! That green skin! Epic!
Many people ask why the film is not being remade. Because it's not possible! Because there is only one Marais, one Funes and a perfect flying citroen!

Louis de Funes was a legend in the USSR. I watched many of his movies like La Grande Vardouille, Policeman against Aliens, and obviously the Fantomas series in French. Russians and French have a very long-standing cultural connection dating back to czarist times.

Yo también la vi en Cuba. El cine era nuestro deporte igual que el baseball, éramos súper adictos al cine. Uno de los trucos usados por Fidel para entretenernos y no nos diéramos cuenta de su dictadura, también le cambió la dirección del tráfico para aturdirnos, una calle que era de ida de pronto era de venida... en la escuela la maestra nos mandaba a cerrar los ojos y pedirle “ un Son” (porque así le cambio el nombre a la Coca Cola) y nos decía: ven? Dios no puede, ahora cierren los ojos y pídale un Son a Fidel Castro, y mientras le rogábamos por un sucio Son, la maestra nos colocaba a cada uno una botella de son y decía: abran los ojos... Ven? Dios no puede pero nuestro comandante en jefe puede más que Dios Fidel Castro nos da todo lo que le pedimos... HP lavándole la cabeza a niños de segundo y tercer grado... no creo que le pueda lavar el cerebro a Satanas el cerebro en el merecido infierno donde fue a parar cuando tuvo esa muerte tan merecida, y luego dicen que no hay Karma... murió de una infección provocada por sus excrementos que le infectaron la sangre, ósea su propia mierda lo mato, eso es un poético final para ese tirano. Gracias a Fantomas y tantas buenas Franco-italianas películas de esa época su tiranía y la falta de todo fue más llevadera... nunca olvidare a Katherine Spack en: “la noche fue hecha para...” y mi Pima portera del cine me coló para ver una película que arrasó en el cine en Cuba por esos tiempos, prohibida para menores de 15 yo a los 10 o 11 años pude ver “la reina abeja” y otra cosa use hacíamos era cambiarles los nombres, a la de Sara Montiel “Carmen la de Ronda” le decíamos Carmen la jedionda... y a Elena de Troya =. Elena la tralla... finos mucho cine español, palomo linares en Nuevo en esta plaza, rocio Dúrcal las Leandras, Massiel Cantando a la vida y las mil y una película de Sarita Montiel, el último couple, el último tango, las violeteras, la reina del Chanticleer, me hacía mucha gracia que en todas sus pelis la ponían en un contexto histórico... en las violeteras pierde la voz porque venía a America en el Titanic y aunque se salvó perdió la voz, en el último tango va a argentina y conoce a Gardel antes que fuera famoso, en esa se queda ciega por un fuego, en la reina del change lee se cruza con Mata Hari arias veces, en esa no le pasa nada grave a ella pero el amor de su vida comete suicidio cuando se enteró que era una mujer de teatro, que n esa época era como ser prostituta... Alain Delon en el tulipán negro no dejó un ojo seco en Cuba y su esposa con las de Sísi esto y lo otro también... me acuerdo que la última peli que vi en Cuba, no recuerdo el nombre pero era sci-fic japonesa y la tierra iba a chocar con un asteroide o algo parecido y le pusieron un motor en el polo norte o sur no recuerdo y la sacaron de órbita para evitar el choque... Las de Kurosawa con Toshiro Mifune haciendo de samurai odas eran buenísimas... en una manda un mensaje con flores de loto por un canal... otra buenísima fu Latitud Cero con el nieto de José Martí Cesar Romero... una de las pocas producciones Americanas de USA que pusieron, entre ellas las 3 caras de Eva, Vivir es mi deseo, en Inglés Aunty Mame, GIgi on la única e inimitable Leslie Caron y Mauricio Chevalier... el enemigo de Fantomas el inspector interpretado por Luis Funes se hizo muy famoso porque era un gran actor... otra que no puedo ubicar ni recuerdo el nombre por más que trato era algo surreal de gente con cuerpos de barro en forma de tasas o búcaros que peleaban con espadas etc, y no puedo recordar nada más... otra muy buena fue Lemonade Joe... y otra llamada Estrellita? Que la protagonista tenía una estrella de oro en la frente.. Tantas películas inolvidables... Los vikingos!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y la furia de los Vicki vos y la venganza de los vikingos... con Tony Curtis y Kirk Douglas papa de Michael Douglas, recuerdo una película muy surreal creo pero no juro que era rusa, no recuerdo el título pero abría con una mujer a Carballo que llevaba bajo el brazo un rollo de una película y la trama era la película que ella llevaba pero no era posible ya que nada había pasado de lo que pasaba en dicha película y el final era la misma escena del principio como si la historia fuese un “loop” ... y claro las películas neorealistas italianas como el ladron de bicicleta de rosselinni con Ana Magnáni para morir, con las de Federico Felini... y claro Chaplin!!!! Toda todas obras de arte que aún hoy son tan buenas como entonces: Candiljas! City lights que fue demandado por darse el crédito de compositor, cuando toda la música era la música de Las Violteras, y el Gran Dictador otra obra de arte Caplin solo hubo uno y rompieron el molde pues jamás nadie hizo un cine.tan simple que todos sin exepccion podían entender los chistes, y a la vez una crítica social y temas tan profundos que los intelectuales podían encontrar otro mensage diferente, era como dos películas muy diferentes pero muy bien syncronisadas que una no podía funcionar sin la otra , en diferencia a los 3 chiflados , el gordo y el flaco y demás cómicos del cine mudo... y las de Disney? Blanca Nieves, Pinocho, La Cenicienta.... y esto es solo por arribita... yo podía ver la misma peli 3 tandas seguidas por dos semanas que así funcionaba el cine de repertorio en Cuba.... huy casi cometo pecado capital si no menciono Viaje al Centro de la tierra, La vuelta al mundo en 80 días con Cantinflas... y todas las películas de Cantinflas el bolero de Raquel, etc... Libertad Lamarque.... María Bonita María del. Alma la única María Felix, doña Barbara y todas, era única aquella mujer de hierro con una belleza que derretía corazones, y una que también hizo mucho ruido fue la reina del palenque con su gallo de oro, Lucha Villa... y ni hablar del cine Cubano con producciones de gran calidad que hicieron el cine cubano famoso a nivel mundial, como la increíble “muerte de un burócrata” ‘Lucia” “Memorias del subdesarrollo” y mucho más tarde la obra maestra: “Fresas y Chocolate” las que nunca me gustaron sus películas no se puede negar que sus canciones todas sin exepccion fueron éxitos cantadas por toda Cuba fueron las de Raphael, que cantaba en ángulo de 3 cuartos levantando una ceja y moviendo la cabeza de lado a lado imitaba descaradamente a la Montiel y si era mbrujador en Sara en Raphael muy ridiculous... y otra que acabo con todos fue La Berbena de la Paloma .... inolvidable... y pudiera seguir porque estoy dejando a tantas y tantos fuera que para hacer justicia un mes escribiendo aquí sin tomar descanso ni para comer o dormir aún me quedaría corto.... temo despertarme en medio de la noche de una horrible pesadilla por recordar que olvide laguna que I hizo que a pesar de la tormenta peor, que Flora y todavía hace estragos ya empezaba a tener víctimas y muchos terminaríamos despatriados con lengua ajena en el frío destierro al menos logre una infancia feliz en la ignorancia de no ser adulto y muy ocupado ya que cada noche era un estreno aunque la hubiese visto toda la semana siempre había un detalle que no había notado antes y así protejido por un mundo de celuloide salí ileso del mundo de colas, escocés, falto de todo, donde era prohibido soñar y la gente hablando en clichés: siempre se puede más, pa tras ni pa cojer impulso, patria o muerte perderemos, fidel: voy bien Camilo? Camilo: vas muy mal maricon, y no seas cara dura haciéndote la gótica María Ramos que toda Cuba sabe que me mandasteis a matar a mi como hicisteis con el che y a huber Matos preso pa quedarte tú y el besaculos de tu hermana Raul!

It was a DS19 Special, only three were ever built & one got to fly.
It can be seen in the new Citroen museum on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

All outer pannels were HD molded nylon, chassis is pressed aluminium in the central box, and vacuum formed fiberglass sub-chassis front & rear.
Hydo-pneumatic suspention already is aerospace grade on all standard DS, developed by aircraft engineed Paul Magés in the late '40s. Wings and flaps powed off the standard LHM circuit.
DS shape is already a lifting body ( like NASA's X-24)
There was also a propeller driven 2CV for the French Marine Paras'
Both projects were canceled.

Eh, si... credo sia difficile x un ventenne di oggi capire che effetto faceva la linea della DS 1.9 quando è uscita... un'astronave...! In Italia si è guadagnata l'azzeccatissimo soprannome di "ferro da stiro".
Se non ci fosse mai stata, beh... mi riesce difficile immaginare un'altra auto adatta ad un personaggio come Fantomas; chissà gli sceneggiatori che si sarebbero dovuti inventare! Forse esagero, ma per chi è della mia generazione viene quasi da associare la DS a Fantomas come la Batmobile a Batman
