I did two back-to-back cruises on Ruby on 22/11/2019 to New Zealand and then out to New Caledonia on 05/12/2019. I cruised with my mother and aunt, and we shared one of the aft facing Premium Balcony cabins on the New Zealand cruise and then moved to a forward balcony cabin (for the ladies) and the inside cabin across the hall (for the gentleman). I think I need more time on that ship to discover all the places. However, The International Cafe and any of the lounges surrounding the atrium are wonderful places to while away some time, and the coffee there is the best on the ship. I found the coffees they make at the poolside cafe a disappointment. My meal at Share was a delight and more than worth the cover charge.The meals in the main dining room (Botticelli for us) were really good. I preferred to eat in the buffet for breakfast as they serve rice congee. The second cruise included The Travelling Sydney Film Festival at sea which was a delight. So many good memories from Ruby Princess. My only gripe (forgive me) is that I find the ambient temperature on board just a couple of degrees higher than I enjoy.... Actually, we booked the premium balcony on the strength of our experience on Majestic Princess where the Premium Balcony cabin we had had a two seater sofa bed that converted to a bed for the third person. On Ruby the premium balcony cabin had a pullman bed. This 63 year old man is not made to climb ladders, so after that experience we've all decided it's a mini suite. She's a lovely ship.
Sounds like a lovely trip! Back to back cruises are a fantastic way to really explore a ship and multiple destinations. That’s great feedback regarding the premium balcony rooms as well. It makes it difficult for customers to always know what they’re getting, as the experience can differ from vessel to vessel. Personally I think a Pullman should be relegated to the kiddies! But on a short cruise it’s possibly doable. Funny you should mention the ambient temperature - I found it awfully warm onboard Majestic in October ‘19.

Looking at that exact cruise to go on a honeymoon with my fiancé. This gave some good insight into what it’ll look like (we have never been on a cruise and are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere as we are not party people)

Brilliant! Alaska is an incredible part of the world. I made a video about that too you can watch here if you like: ua-cam.com/video/dOG9wDru6O0/v-deo.html As for cruising solo, I think a cruise is a great way to travel solo because everyone really is in the same boat - pardon the pun. Everyone is on holiday and enjoying the time so it's easy to strike up conversation with people at bars or lounges. I would suggest going to events that are held throughout the cruise and Princess are quite good at putting on solo-traveller events as well. Essentially though, I think you'll have a great time either way and one of the best things about an Alaskan cruise in particular is that there is always something to be looking at and enjoying outdoors.

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. In general yes, Princess Cruises attracts an older demographic but it also depends somewhat on the itinerary and time of year. During school holidays, peak summer travel season, or on shorter itineraries, it’s not uncommon to find younger people or children onboard. Unfortunately I don’t recall which dance classes were being offered at the time of my cruise.
She’s a beautiful ship, I look forward to when things can get back to normal and we can all continue to enjoy travel and cruising once more. For now, memories it is, I suppose!
We are looking to book a Panama cruise on Princess or NCL. My husband isn’t a fan of NCL but have never sailed with Princess. Do they have a lot going on when at sea or can they be boring.
Princess offer some daytime activities, but they’re possibly not as *fun* as what you’d find onboard Royal Caribbean for example. There are examples of the Princess Patter that you can google and read through to get a better idea of what’s offered during the course of the day.
The pools onboard Princess are heated, but some people have reported they’re still on the cold side. Depending on the ship, there are some with indoor pools which might be more comfortable for a dip on an Alaskan itinerary.

Most cruise lines including Princess have mandated that all guests be fully vaccinated in order to travel. Buffets are operational on ships, in some cases crew are serving food to guests rather than passengers being able to help themselves.
Didn’t go through on our tour, no. There is a casino onboard though. Much like any other Princess casino if you’ve been on one of the other ships in their fleet.

Hanne Porse the Ocean Medallion technology will be making its way to other cruise lines in the future as well. Sounds like you might enjoy a sailing on a cruise line like Azamara 😊
I rather the Medallion than the card. At least with the Medallion you can attach it to your watch, belt or pendant. With a card you have to pull out it, a problem if carrying anything.

In my experience it’s generally a quiet area. There’s no music or noise of that nature, and a lot more people tend to use the midship pools.
