How could you blow past the topic of pirates so quickly? Nothing is more interesting than what happened, where, how did you end it? Please make a video about that.
SAM, I’d like you to elaborate on your pirate experiences on a video. What happened? You mentioned seeing about 30 sharks, any great white sharks? Thank you for sharing your VAST 😆 sailing adventures with us. It is a pleasure to see your videos. Keep up the great work. 🙂
Best comment
prediction: Sam simply fed the pirates to the sharks.
Tell us how you killed all the pirates!
indeed, what is this business of pirates?
You’re such an inspiration! Your adventures motivate us all to keep going 🥰🥰
KOBE said he didn’t need RADAR either UNTIL he needed it unfortunately( rground proximity radar) Sam you need RADAR! Why not? Some huge oil tanker in the fog rolls right over the top of you you’re gonna want it!!!! Why not have it ????????? ALL extra money you’re getting from UA-cam ??? Just outfit your boat with all the safe precautions because you’re a single person floating around in the middle of every ocean in the world!! why not have a radar to see what’s around you at all times?
@@richardharris6058 power constraints? AIS mitigating the risk of tankers?
Been watching you for years, never thought I’d see you in the Moray Firth! I passed through the canal west to east last week. Quite surreal to see the pontoon behind you that I was lying against 13 days ago.. Lovely helpful staff and automated Locks. Remember to get your key for the toilets & showers!!
You'll find the Loch Ness monster most likely at the bottom of one of those peaty bottles of Scotch. :-))
So cool to see you make it to my home country after following you all the way to Hawaii! I hope the sun comes out for you!
Can’t wait for Islay. Gonna turn it a drinking game. Love Islay whisky. So for everyone you visit that is in my stable I will have a glass. Hope you visit them all. Current residents of my stable: Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Bowmore. Finished my coal ila last week and haven’t replaced. So looking forward to it.
I've just clicked on your garmin tracker to follow your progress...... and there you are at the top of Ben Nevis! 4,200 feet above your boat 😃
Beware! The Loch Ness Monster loves Pickled Herring.
Congratulations on your recent Atlantic crossing. Well done mate.
Good luck in your adventures, it's always interesting hearing from you.
May I suggest taking some time before going live and make a bullet list of events and topics you want to cover so you have something to refer to and so when you're done you don't have something you wish you covered.
Welcome to Scotland 🏴
Hi Sam. If you are planning to head down the east coast of England. Come and stay the night in Stangate Creek on the river Medway. It’s a lovely sheltered spot and it’ll be a nice break after crossing the Thames estuary. You could even come and use the pontoon at Medway Yacht club for the night if you want. Let me know and I’ll book you in! You could also visit Chatham Historic Dockyard. It’s a world heritage site and the historic home of the British Royal Navy. Nelsons flagship HMS Victory was built there.
Always fun to watch. We drove through Scotland and Ireland a couple years ago and found ithem to be one fo the most friendly and beautiful places we'd ever been. You are bringing it to us from the ocean point of view. Equally interesting. Thanks for sharing. A little more about your pirate experiences, please.
Sam, your videos always put a smile on my face. Thanks for that. Happy travels.👍🏻
Welcome to Scotland, I hope you enjoy your stay!
Hope you like Scotland..my home country! Enjoy the Whisky!
Dutch islands: Texel, Ameland, Terschelling, Vlieland. On Texel there is a para centre, you could go skydiving!
The Dutch Wadden sea is also interesting, at low tide you can have your boat beach on the sand and walk around on the sea floor sand! Lots of seals around as well.
Sam thank you. You should sail your boat into the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands. Then ride your bicycle to different towns. The bike paths, people and towns in the Netherlands are amazing. Greetings from a Dutchman living in Detroit,MI.
Whisky, without an "e" for the real deal made in Scotland. Scotch is a tape.
Uisce beatha. We share it, us Gaels. An bfuil tú as do bhfeamhair?
Welcome to Scotland Sam! Great to have you.
If you like ship wrecks go to Scapa flow in Orkney... Loads of Naval wreckage
Dude Your the best Solo sailor on UA-cam, You Rock, Thanks for all the great education you provide.
Welcome to Scotland Scott 🏴🏴🏴🏴
Sam, you are about the most pleasant person I have never actually met. Thank you for sharing your joy and talents with the rest of us. I wish you safe passage and good weather in your travels.
WOW, I'm from Scotland and I have only recently started watching your videos. You have inspired me to explore the outdoors here in Scotland, as we have some of the best scenery in the world. Currently leaning towards canoeing a series of Lochs and plan next year to do the Caledonian Canal west to east. If I could just leave a thank you.
Sam's the man! Well done on your journey so far, you and the Herring have done fantastically at getting to the UK.
I strongly advise spending some more time on the west coast of Scotland
The east isn’t particularly pretty
Lmao viewer asks about run-ins with pirates.
Sam: looks away and reflects on vicious battles and disposing of pirate bodies
“…I always came out on top tho”. Gangster!!!!
That's my boy🤼
Thank you again Sam for sharing your videos and your honest and straightforward discussions.
One of my favorite memories was backpacking around Fort Augustus. I recommend trying to sneak up to the Abbey's rooftop. Some of the best Gargoyles live up there. Found a tiny pub off the beaten path with the help of some locals, (Had to cross some football field.) Forget the pubs name but it was the first time I traded songs for whiskey. Slàinte mhath Sam!
(Pronounced: Slange Vah)
Dh'ol mi Uisge Beatha a riamh . mar sin leat !
The Liverpool (west coast) tidal range is about 10 m (30 ft), the G.Yarmouth
(east coast) tidal range is about 6.8 m (22 ft).
You are such an inspiration for us as to what to do next ! Its a shame you dont have someone on board to share your special life
So glad I watched your live stream from Scotland 🏴 today..Only found your channel a few days ago and looking forward to coming along for the ride ❤️☮️👍..!!⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⚓️
On your way back down, you should deffo visit Cornwall. Moorup in Falmouth or the Helford for a few days. If the weathers nice it’s lush here.
It's a shame you were not able to sail up to the Hebrides in Scotland as the beaches are incredible there, especially the west coasts of Barra, South and North Uist, Berneray and Harris. I have also seen people paragliding there as well Sam. Thanks for creating really enjoyable sailing channel. Failtè gu Alba!
Thanks Sam. Keep up the great videos!
Did this trip when I was a kid, loved sailing out of Nairn with my uncle Billy.
You seem very chilled, focussed and inspired. Well done you. Really admire your cruising and attitude. Pick up a chanter its actually quite a cool piece of kit.
Hello from Indiana….. about as land locked as you can get. Enjoy watching your sailing adventures! Thanks for sharing!
youre happiness is nice to see every time i watch u
Will you ever venture along the western coast of Canada; the inland passage, the Haida Gwaii (formerly Queen Charlotte Islands). That has been a dream of mine. Your boat seems perfectly suited to you and I smile every time you drill a whole in it. Your ownership of your life is appallingly beautiful. Sail on.
Welcome to the land where you get all four seasons in the same day, enjoy 😃
Thanks!
Too bad fall is already coming otherwise i would have recommended coming over here to finland, the finnish archipelago is very beautiful in the summer
One question on the live chat was whether or not a 22' boat was big enough to sail oceans. Robert Tucker, a 22 year old who never sailed, left England on an 18' bilge keeler named Shrimpy and circumnavigated the globe. An epic adventure and good read.
Sam, best time to sail from Europe to the Caribbean via the Canary Island is Nov to Feb. thanks for the adventure. Travel Safe.
"Sailing Uma" is currently in Norway.
Hey Sam, if you're in Edinburgh and you want to try on a kilt and get some great pictures then get in touch and we can hook you up (we're a ski hire company but we're owned by a much bigger kilt hire company) !
Sam, you have a great opportunity to sail to the Faroe Islands. According to Windy winds should be pretty favorable the next couple of weeks :)
Very interesting to follow you on your voyage. Safe travels.
You'll be passing me as you go past channory point... keep an eye out for the dolphins 👍🏴
Finding out Sam has a huge Inverness following.. three of us so far 😂
Welcome to Scotland , enjoy your trip through the canal, are heading up to se us in Orkney before Norway
Hello from Winston Salem, NC
You are fantastic! You inspire me so much! Sending you love from the UK 😁
Hey Sam don’t forget about your fans from Australia. We’re way ahead time wise so we miss your live stuff.
Most of us are from that part of the world because we were sent here.
Love ya work mate and say G’day to Mick McAndrew at Ft William for me. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🏴🏴
Hmm, I think I'd be sailing hard south right now. Scotland is beautiful - shame you didn't go up the west coast - my cousin has a mooring near Kyle. Sail south, stay warm in the winter. Leaving to rescue our boat in NC in a few weeks!
Great to see your in the UK. You must come and sail around Wales the straits is awesome.
Hello Sam 😊 im from Norway if you need to now something just let me know. I sailed 5 weeks ago 29 feet sailboat ⛵️ and i am now in la palma I did olso go true the Calodonien canal. 1 month ago. Nice place 👌🏻👍🏻
Good morning Sam. Just calling in from Nz. Obviously I missed the livestream. Ok it is what it is. But I caught the bit where you were talking about heading south. The unofficial rumours, and they are just rumours, are that our borders might be open around December 2022. So our summer. It could be wishful thinking of course. Anyway 15 months from now, things could be a lot different than they are now. Btw..I'm loving your smile mate. Don't change. I'm currently subbed to another sailing channel, but unfortunately the opening greeting is usually the same. "Hullo friends." In a monotone. Accompanied with a frown. But I love your smiling intro. It gives me a positive start to my day. Until next time, take care.
Sam the man love your videos keep sharing your adventures love Scotland love Fort William !
Hey Sam , would love to see you sail to cuba and visit havanna, love your work
Looking good,,Sammo! Love watching you!
Welcome to Scotland! When do you expect to be in Inverness? It would be great to say hello. I am at Inverness Marina.
Hey you must have just passed by me. If I wasn’t busy I would come and help you with the locks.
Just wondering why you are going through the canal and missing most of the west coast.
If you are heading for the Ben, go up the path from Torlundy, North Face car park, this takes you to below the big cliffs, very dramatic. If the weather is not so good this would be much better than going up the tourist path.
Get to Norway if you can. Stay on for the great hiking / skiing. They have an amazing mountain hut system, DNT, once you join you get a key, most are unmanned, but very well stocked. You fill in what you have used on an honesty sheet.
This guy is such an inspiration
I just missed you live!
Well done, Sam. Sorry we missed you up the East Coast at Howth.
Things worth trying: haggi s&neaps, black pudding, sausage rolls, meat pies, bridies, Scottish breakfast, chip shop meals, pub grub. Places to visit, oban, skye, Glen coe, Ben nevis, the stone age digs of orkney, ... Perhaps one of your local viewers would be so kind as to take Sam for a few day trips and show him around!!!
When I check UA-cam I look for you first.
Enjoy your trip through the lock.
Good peaty whiskeys are known locally as 'sheep dip'.
Voting yes for the Med/HobieCat plan :) So glad you are doing the Caledonian Canal. See you soon.
Welcome to Scotland!!!
Love this adventure
Thank you for sharing
Good wind from San Francisco
Max recorded tide at Silloth is 10m - 33'.
was stationed in the 70's at Holy Loch nuke sub base which is long gone now but remember the beauty of the Firth of Clyde...enjoy some fish and chips and meat pies while you are there, unmatchable taste treasures!
Talk to us about the mental state of mind to sail across open waters like you do. The average person can’t do this I think.
What a lucky guy you are. Greetings from Los Angeles ❤️
Congrats kid! Well done!
hello from Buenos Aires Argentina!!! good winds!!
Dude, I was never really into sailing. My father is, and I never really understood the fascination with it. But I'm not gonna lie, watching you go around the world as you please, pretty much free of everything… I don't know how to sail, aside from a couple of basics, I don't have a boat, I don't even live on the coast, but you're really giving me the itch with your vlogs. Thank you.
Same, but with no sailor dad.
@@clicgear100 Oh, sorry, he's no sailor either, he just likes boats lol. Should have specified.
Yes, see Kiel as well and a very beautiful spot called Schlei and Schleswig. Let me know, if you do so.
Good luck captain Sam 💙 👍👍👍
Skip Sweden , come to Denmark , you would like it here , I would like to show you around, and almost no COVID troubles here !
you should see if you can meet up with Sailing Uma
They doubled back from Norway to Iceland. Not sure if they're heading south to the Med for winter.
The Pharoe Islands!
Scotland. How absolutely wonderful. Take care time there and show us everything you have time for. I think Scotland is so beautiful.
The fjords would be insane…
Welcome to Scotland Sam !!!:):):)

Beloved Viewer: “What’s your favorite sailing book?”
Sam: “I don’t remember”
Real informative.
Shetland Isles and Orkney ! - Have a look !

Hi, you can sail to the Netherlands. And from the Netherlands inland waters to Belgium and to France canals to the Mediterranean sea. Put your mast down and you can sail all the channels in Europe. Its a nice adventures
Say hello to "Nessie" for me when you get to Loch Ness. You are sailing in my dream areas now. Amazing
Hey Sam... Could you start showing us how you chart your courses and how you navigate. It would be really interesting to see how you do that and great learning for all us watching.
Hey there Sam, greetings from the Caribbean.
Hahaha…can’t wait for the loch ness monster episode! 😂
Sam ! Very entertaining videos!. You should consider sailing all the way around Australia including Tassie and NZ during our winter
Illinois, watching your excursions.
Sam, milk is not a sipping beverage. Scotch is. If you get those two in reverse, Pickled Herring could end up anywhere. 😳
