    Thank you for your video! We just spent three weeks in Cambodia and absolutely LOVED every minute and cannot wait to return. We went to PP, Siem Reap/Angkor, Kep/Kampot/Rabbit, Koh Rong, and just a night in Sihanoukville. Three weeks was definitely NOT enough time to see all we wanted in Cambodia. We have shared a lot of our travel photos with friends, and now they are also interested in visiting this beautiful country. Akun! - Kerri

    The reason most american families do not eat together is because most of america in my opinion are not as well mannered and in touch with their roots as a lot of more cultural countries and your right it is sad. I envy Cambodia and other places for those kind of small things.

    • @gabriellyra6980

      American families do eat together if the parents are not working. If you have experience something different it is nothing more than poor parenting.

      nono Agreed and also we didn't like their last president or the one before either. The current one is far too hung up on his stupid "America first" policy. The US is totally ignoring the facts that these are global socieoeconomic times. There is a lot more to this world than just the US.

      +Putins Cat Well, I don't know about Khmer, but for Thais, whose customs are very similar, kissing someone you love or care about on the forehead is OK, and is even seen as a sign of deep respect (i.e. boyfriend / girlfriend or parent / child). There are always exceptions to every rule.

      lee world Okay I agree. But this is MY CULTURE! What the hell are u rumbling about?
      1. It is BAD manners.
      2. I am keeping my norms for my own people by correcting this flawed video.

  • @jivajivit6502
    @jivajivit6502 9 років тому

    Okay people! Firstly, let's get something cleared up. Burping, slurping, and chewing with mouth wide open is definitely NOT A NORM! Even most of the country folks will be horrified with manners like that. You DO NOT want to be called a "tmill" and doing those things will get you funny faces in most of the country. Secondly, although she did a pretty good job, there are alot of missing informations as I can tell she had a bit of different raising than most Khmers. I am not saying it to her down but this lack of information can be quite miss leading to those outside of the cultural settings.

    Have you thought about re-recording this video? You seem very tired and at some points incoherent. Probably a very tired mom! But you could probably make it half as long and much more concise.

  • @zeylahs

    You're totally wrong about the eating part! Khmer tradition doesn't allow you to eat with your mouth wide open, chewing loudly, slurping, or burping. It's consider highly rude, people may think you're from a family that have no manners. You're going to get frown upon with that kind of eating ettiquet. I don't know where you were raised, but in my family it's a no-no. Please do some research on Khmer traditions first before you post it on youtube.

  • @saturnsglaive

    I'm Khmer and I hate it when people in general eat with their mouth open or SMACKING their food. Very disrespectful and it's like showing yourself as a low class person with very low level of educations or no manners at all in my opinion. Khmer people are like any other race, when it comes to manners and education level. Educated Khmer people don't eat with their mouth open nor smacking their food. And this is the truth. And what I meant by educated I meant middle class Khmer families and or parents that teaches their kids the proper way of how Khmer people culture and do things.

    • @BigJ11617
      @BigJ11617 5 років тому +1

      I agree with you. Eating with your mouth open, slurping soup and burping are all unpleasant sounds. I think that the model to follow is the Buddhist monks. They eat quietly.

    It's similar to Thailand, but slurping n burping is considered as impolite. Also, don't sit with cross legs.
    Leaving some food behind is not advisable, basically in Asia. Instead, people would be happy if the guest could finish everything which means the foods are delicious.
