    Everything seems to be at peace in Bob's Burgage, the only worry I have is the slowly depleting supplies of food and the ever-increasing amounts of banditry.

      I am *concerned* about our food situation, especially as we are going into our second winter...

    herdy gerdy is one of my favorite instruments, if they didnt cost a crazy amount i would love to learn to play. Im from the Foxhole game community and the herdy gerdy holds a special place in our hearts despite not being even remotely related to the game, during the r/place thing us and herdy gurdy have always been allied

      I didn't realise I loved the sound of a gerdy until BDG did his herdy gerdy song video. I was first introduced to it in Dominions 3 a loooong time ago but didn't know that is what it is!

    It seems that the assigned material still shows as available in the inventory. Great series 😊

      Yeah it can be a bit confusing as I demonstrated. Small UI fixes I'm sure will be sorted for final release.

    Manor Lords is an enjoyable watch. I’m glad you aren’t planning on making this a full play through though yet. Take an iron from the fire before adding more.
    Would a third ox help with the bottle neck in log to planks or is it just the lack of working hands.

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 місяці тому +1

      Both, I think a third ox is going to help. I'll upgrade one of the hitching posts to a stable and assign two oxen and a family to it when I get a chance.

    That Zoom to start the video was spectacular. Please start every Manor Lords video like that.

      That's actually how the game loads your save!

    The problem with encircling the town with the castle wall is that you can not build new buildings inside the wall once you start constructing the wall. so only buildings that are already there can exist. The other problem is that you can not upgrade buildings you build the wall around, you also can't assign and unassign workers to work buildings inside the wall. There is a way around this, but it is complex. and would basically require demolishing the entire town first.

    You can manually type in a tax rate instead of using the plus minus buttons. The buttons go in increments of 10$, but if you click in the box and type in an amount, you can type in whatever you want.

    Just can't wait to the next episode because of the fighting and also all those updates there will be a village army pretty only archers in the start though

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm still on the pre-release build because it hasn't got save compatibility with the current early access build so my archers still rain supreme!

    Always happy for a Phrophor update!
    You're floating a bunch of construction families and regional wealth. You really should get some more veggie plots etc out to help with the food. A few deer and berries can't sustain this many people and keep the extra families making stone, clay etc when you can so you are't waiting in the future.

      Yeah you make an excellent set of points. Third ox on the way. I'm trying not to upgrade the central houses since they are going to turn into artisans. I really want to get a farming district up and running ASAP.

    The mayor was dissatisfied with the opulence of his new manor and demanded it be rebuilt stone by stone with new materials.

    It's a tavern, not an inn. The standard fantasy inn/tavern combination wasn't really a thing, since travelers were not that common and would generally be able to get lodging in someone's house, especially if the travelers were rich and/or someone's guest. There were also hospitals, which were often church-run and provided cheap/free housing for (poor) travelers, the poor, and the sick, and which eventually evolved into the modern sense of a hospital.
    Edits below
    ...I think there were inns sometimes, but they would not really be combined with taverns as far as I know and were mostly restricted to larger cities where you'd get a lot more travelers
    Can you get multiple families arriving at the same time if you have multiple empty burgages?
    Ah, yes. The place where iron ore is smelted into something useful could only possibly catch fire if struck by lightning

    • @drakron
      @drakron 2 місяці тому

      Err, no? the inn/tavern combination wasnt much a thing as its redundant ... a inn provided lodging, food and drinks as a tavern only provided food and drinks or we could say Pub that was short for Public House. The thing you are missing is Inns also tended to houses so they could be feed and rest, something some random house wouldnt be able to, those are also known as Coaching inns (among other names such as perhaps the better known Staging Inn) but this get complicated as overall it have to do with licenses and taxes, take Alehouse and a Tavern, what the difference? A Tavern could sell all drinks as a Alehouse could only sell beer.
      The problem is you are just looking at the inn as a place of lodging and food thinking they would operate drinking were they totally would simply there would be no reason not to during the kitchen off hours, also travelers would rather say in a public licensed place that go knocking on random houses to get a bed, considering we talking about a time were communal sleeping areas were common, hospitals were also mostly in the cities and also communal (just like hostels) and most travelers, especially wealthy ones, would prefer privacy.

      @@drakron My information on this could be questionable I suppose. But also I don't think travelers were particularly common, and it would be hard to maintain a proper inn - a tavern that also has a few spare beds for rent, sure. But not the typical D&D style inn that is in every town and can conveniently house half a dozen wandering mercenaries plus another handful of plot-relevant NPCs and a couple randos to maintain verisimilitude

    • @manyheadedmishaps6182
      @manyheadedmishaps6182 2 місяці тому

      I imagine many churches would also be willing to shelter travelers

    • @drakron
      @drakron 2 місяці тому

      @@manyheadedmishaps6182 We do have buildings from that time still existing today, such as the The George Inn, yes they arent very large (unless remodeled later), also yes ... travellers werent that uncommon, especially along pilgrimage routes were they would be common. After all there were no planes or trains and people did need occasionally to travel distances and this is why there are several examples of Inns that survived to this day.
      As for the "typical" D&D style inn ... that is going to depend on the setting really as well the DM often misconceptions, the thing is if its a game and gameplay needs to trump "realism", in fantasy games the Inn was just there so the party can recover HP/MP and no other reason. I mean, D6D have a spell or had were you could just live in a pocket dimension.

    • @drakron
      @drakron 2 місяці тому

      @@manyheadedmishaps6182 Not really, we have many surviving examples of churches of that time and they arent capable of sheltering anyone, including its priest that lived in a separate house.
