    Thanks for the video! After trying to use my openers to push heavy wet snow one actuator was very hard to operate. I found two chipped teeth on one of the steel gears. Also, only after less than a year, the gasket has let in rain water and the grease with rust and debris was trashed. I lost the spring loaded plunger during cleaning. Apparently it launched when carrying it from the garage to the shop (like your example at 3:30). Thanks for the link for a replacement!

    Thanks so much. I just finished this repair - the brass gear was worn on a four year old unit. The local dealer said there are no internal repairs that can be performed and I would need to replace the entire operator for $6-700. The new gear assembly was about $67 now and with the help of your detailed video the labor
    wasn't a big deal. Thanks!

      Ya I was told the same thing and replaced one entire operator before I found the gear assembly part by itself. I now have a spare unit to swap in if needed. Glad it worked out for you and that is why I love UA-cam... usually there's somebody out there that can show you how it's done.

    Just installed the 41ASWG-0440SA Spare Release Shaft & Gear Set and it is working perfectly in the Liftmaster 412.

    Wish you would have shown how to put the cover back on. I can’t get it to go back on correctly.

    How do these lift masters compare to the Nice/Apallo gate arms?

    Is there anything you can do if you don't have the key to the top of the arm?

    I am getting Error code 32 and I try to disengage the arm, unlocked and turn 180 degrees, travel full arm, and then try to lock for engage but it does not engage, still error code 32.50 times... It engaged couple times but when I was trying to set open and close limits , gate moves little bit and I get error code 93. I can't even set limits because of error code 93 and then code turns back to 32. So I don't know what to do, can someone tell me what should I do? What part needs to be replaced?

    Hi ordered part Spare Release Shaft (041ASWG-0440SA) for Lift Master LA400DC model but the gear is not compatible. The new hardly turn and when it does loud noise heard. The old one is missing teeth.
    does anyone have better suggestion?

    @beraer I am getting a 5 blink error code, RPM reversal. I opened up the gate arm and pulled the motor out. The gear that mates with the worm gear on the motor looks pretty fine to me. If the motor is removed but still connected to the control board, should it run if I trigger with the controls? When I try it turns just a little and stops, the same behavior in either direction, same as when assembled. Do I need to replace the motor itself?

    • @beraer
      @beraer  4 роки тому

      If you removed the switch assembly when pulling the motor, both switches will be opened or closed and probably keep the control from moving the motor as you described. If you connect the motor directly to the control box battery and it runs freely, the motor is most likely not the issue.
      As a note: I have maintained two gates for 12yrs and the main failures have been, stripped gear (video above), dead batteries (averaging ~5yrs-ish), wire/cable failure, and recently a switch failure (the ones above the gear stack). The last two failures are the trickiest to find as they can be very intermittent. Perhaps the rpm error is coming out of a switch or wire failure. Anyone with a more specific solution please reply freely.

    How did you know that needed to be replaced? I'm getting the diagnostic light blinking 5 times = RPM REVERSAL. I'm not sure what piece needs to be replaced to correct this. Thanks for your video.

    Thanks for the video. Do you know if there is any difference between the arms of the LA400 and the LA412? Having a hard time finding the gear for my LA412 but the arms and gear assembly look identical.

    • @beraer
      @beraer  8 років тому

      as best I can tell they seem to be the same other than the 412 is a 12V system comared to the 400/24V. So "perhaps" the only didfference is the motor thats inside the unit.

    • @rafleischman
      @rafleischman 8 років тому

      You are right. I just talked to a tech rep from Liftmaster and he said the 2 arms are exactly the same except the voltage for the motors. I have ordered the gear assembly and will update with my results. Thanks for your help.

    While you had it apart did you lubricate the screw that drives the shaft? Is for what did you use? I'm shocked that the regular maintenance on this doesn't call for lubrication.

    • @beraer
      @beraer  6 років тому

      It is a sealed system and all the moving parts in my two units were well lubricated with a heavy grease (including the drive screw). Thus should be no need for any frequent maintenance. After years of service the non-broken unit grease was still pristine. The unit with the stripped gear had black grease from the wear of the gears but was still well lubricated. Your milage may vary.

      The new gear assembly came with a packet of the grease.

    Hey great video it help me replace the motor but now is not saving my limits any suggestions

    • @beraer
      @beraer  4 роки тому +1

      I have had limit saving issues in the past and it was either the limit switch went out inside the motor (simple test with an ohmmeter) or it was a faulty wire in the cable going into the motor. I have had a couple of problems with cable issues. Again an ohmmeter across each end of the motor and lots of bending or wiggling the cable may show a fault. Hope that helps.

    What is a bottom out condition on the arm.

    • @beraer
      @beraer  7 років тому

      not sure what you're referring to but I suspect that the arm is fully extended or retracted. If you open the release you can manually move the arm, otherwise open the lid and turn the gear to move the arm.
