ProTip: If you get steamy windows from inside, just turn on A/C, not regular fans, but A/C. It will dry up the air inside and windows will clear out. No matter if you turn on the heating or cooling, just turn A/C on.

He worked as a radiologist 12 - 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, never had time for holidays, never had time for anything and 3 months after his pension he had a stroke and lived as a plant for another 10 years before he died. This comment hits a nerve. I'm young (ish - 47) and 13 months ago covid fucked me almost to death. 10 days after infection i had a massive stroke caused entirely by damage to my lungs by the awful disease. I'm in something of a transitional phase. Physically im sort of OK. Mentally im a wreck. Ive no idea if i will ever be able to work again, (NHS/ healthcare, im NOT a doc, caught covid at work from a patient most likely, was working on ITU). So now i will need to decide what my life will be going forward. Tricky thing to sort out, nearly 30 years doing one thing, quite late in the day to retrain, and honestly mentally im not what i was. So... who knows. What i do know is life is absurd, and absurdly short. Look after your health, and FFS try to find somthing you want to do.

Amazing video. I am a 26 year old healthcare worker in Australia who is unsure whether to keep pursuing growth within my current space or to delve into the business space. There is a part of me which believes that I am more suited for specialist jobs rather than managing people/teams. However, I do enjoy making money and want to be my own boss doing something that I really enjoy. My current occupation has some barriers for opening a practice namely expensive equipment so I was thinking of potentially studying a degree which would allow me to eventually open my own practice. Your video inspires me to be more courageous and take the necessary steps to achieve my goals.

Being a consultant or advisor requires a lot of patience and in depth knowledge. You can always hook me up, if you want to learn german. In my opinion, being nice and patient are key attributes to teach certain things. Being motivated and passionate is most of what it takes to master something. I’m from Prague where I built a startup for meal personalisation currently making a decent mrr and helping thousands people. I’m an IT guy, not a manager, currently struggling with HR where I faced the exact thing you’re mentioning in this video: talent and ambitions work much better than degree, also struggling with company structure. I know I can’t probably afford you, but maybe we can have a conversation/consultation on this topic. Also we have offers for acquisition that might be even closer for you.

People like you are gems in society, but it takes one’s self worth and conscious to wake up within you to realize what you need to change about yourself that impacts people around you. Idk I’m still young, but I’ve always treated people how I would like to be treated. I don’t look for luxury in my life, but I do want the best caring people around me. It’s human nature to look out for others and them look out for you. Maybe my ambition is somewhere where I can help people and help them feel good it’s always made me happy knowing I tried helping someone. But what scares me is spending the money I don’t have to get a education that pays well, maybe because of my upbringing and location it has been difficult to truly understand what I want to pursue in life, best of luck thank you for the motivation from a wise sir.

It is quite funny how life sometime seems to give unexpected clue or advice in the most bizarre way : I was looking at videos of the 2021 718 Boxter S and randomly bumped into your video. What immediately amazed me is how familiar your history looked to me (or it's initial part, at least).
Here is why: I am now 33 years old, I have left surgery 2 years ago, at the very end of my residency (for reasons looking pretty similar to yours). I have, since then, attended a business school and hope now to join the pharmaceutical industry (while being passionate enough to make a bit of profit with some fintech skills in the meantime). Those similarities, even for the Cartesian mind I would like to think I am, convinced me your vlog might be some kind of sign (out of UA-cam's tricky algorithm). I will further reflect on the insights you have the kindness to share here and can't thank you enough for this.

I'm pleased to hear that young people are looking up to you and your profession through the cars.
Yes, it's materialistic, but of course's better to look up to someone like yourself than a gangster and obviously I hope people go into your profession for the good work the job entails and not for the cars alone.

Hugely interesting profile. In some ways I have a similar outlook. I enjoy challenging environments and making a change. I'm currently working as a FP&A Director which partly satisfied and hungry to make things happen. Its an interesting area you're in, I love to crack into your world. I have a few bits of paper but that's a door opener rather than something that defines me.

Watched to the end. I found this fascinating. Well done. I am a new subscriber. I put myself through the University of Heidelberg back in the 1980s graduating in Economics and Germanistik. I should have stayed, because the U.S. does not value on bit multi-lingual people (French, German, Polish, and North American Spanish). Despite a Masters in Accounting, with top marks, as well, from an American top University, I unfortunately work a minimum wage job with no prospects. This is why I subscribed. I need a dose of Ethan. I refuse to go on the dole.

@@Carlos_de_Amesquita he meant he learned Spanish with some of the slang and localizations from North America. You know, like how Brits say lift and Americans say Elevator, or using the word dreamed vs dreamt, or in the case of Spanish, the use of vosotros vs not using vosotros. Why give the guy a hard time?

Moral of the story - Don't give up your soul for any job. Have the courage to make a change, and realized the only limitations are the ones self imposed. Money and cars are secondary. Personal happiness is much more valuable.

Great video Ethan, Enjoyable and interesting I operate a Global Consultancy, EMEA and APAC and I can affirm that doing something you enjoy each day is hugely rewarding, rather than the "Dread" of going into a business that doesn't value you, doing the same thing each day/week/month. I liked your Steve Jobs analogy, I do my MBA Presentation on Apple and Steve it was enjoyable and shaped me future post that, I look back on that as a time changing moment in my career.

Steve Jobs was a vicious, vile human but what he led people to do has had immense benefits. I've read many dozens of biographies and many "great" men were nasty humans, but Jobs was uniquely vicious to people.

The most interesting projects are integration types of projects. Especially when you have a health system and you are bringing on specialized ancillary systems. Secondary projects that I’ve enjoyed doing are migration types of projects. I stepped aways from healthcare the past year, but I find myself longing for that experience.

Ethan, this happens even today in Greece. Doctors do their nighτ shift and next morning their day shift. Not every day, but at least 2 times per week. I find it inhuman. And we don't even have a lack of doctors...

true, large companies especially large banks have complicated process throughout the management and impacted all things. I worked for supporting bank's application, there is so much things that can be made simpler from my opinion. I don't know why it is made like that.

I'm in a similar situation, also a doctor, I like my job but I can't even imagine doing this for the rest of my life even though the salary is very satisfactory but these night shifts are killing me, night shifts in radiology are walk in the park compared to surgical but nevertheless im very tired 24/7, cant focus on anything else
