Another thing that really impressed me about this show (and the manga specifically) is that the attention to historical accuracy is spot on, everything from the furniture, to the clothing, and interior design are all dripping with obvious research into late 19th century fashion and decor. It's a lot more evident in the manga because there's more detail put into the clothing and such. There's even a panel in the manga where sherlock accidentally opens Irene Adler's underwear drawer and a separate text box notes that the underwear isn't historically accurate but was modernized basically just for fanservice.

Thank you. This show is so overlooked. I believe it has to do with its delicate design for the characters, which makes people think it might be just some fanservice-si cheesy show for girls. But DUDE. This show is such a bomb.
I get what you’re saying, but it would still be good if it was for girls, and wouldn’t automatically be cheesy or fanservicey because of it. Judging the quality of a anime or manga based on the art-style of the male characters, ie. thinking they’re too “delicate” or “feminine”, is ridiculous and will lead to missing out on good stories. The same is true of judging a show because of it’s intended demographic, or what you perceive it’s intended demographic to be. Moriarty the Patriot would still be rad as hell if it was shoujo or josei, instead of it being a Jump Square shonen manga. I’m getting flashbacks to the Free! backlash of 2013 with how judgmental certain otaku are being of art-styles and demographics. I’m not directing this at you, although I’m not a fan of your exact choice of words with the “fanservice-si cheesy show for girls” being used in a derogatory manner, probably unintentionally. I believe that you don’t mean to imply anything bad. I’m agreeing with you that people who judged this show based on the art-style and avoided it based on that are missing out.

One of my favorite things, and one of the reasons that I agree Moriarty the Patriot is the BEST Sherlock Holmes Adaptation, is the fact the original stories are worked into the plot or details without it being a simple retelling. The original stories are incorporated into Moriarty the Patriot in ways that help its own story function in its own way; an example I love bringing up is how "A Scandal of Bohemia" is done in it, especially with Irene Adler's character. The original story is simple, yet enjoyable: Sherlock Holmes is bested by a cunning woman named Irene Adler, a woman who has dirt on the king of Bohemia, but the tension is resolved in the end when she finds a man she loves and runs away with him, and the king is assured he'll remain safe. Irene Adler, from my understanding of the rest of the original series, isn't shown again. Moriarty the Patriot does a brilliant twist with this, and makes Irene Adler's character into something even more powerful than her original counterpart. The overall story is much more convoluted than the original (and for good reason), and the genuine progression between Sherlock and Irene Adler as she reveals more of her true self makes the arc one of my favorites; there's also the fact that Moriarty the Patriot takes Irene Adler as a character and morphs it into something new, and creating a brand new character to enjoy in the form of MOTHERFUCKING JAMES BOND! (and I will admit, as a queer person, I'm impressed and very happy with the way the author treats James Bond's integration into the Moriarty group and society as a man, having his wishes to be seen as a man respected and having the humor of the situation focussed on Moran's personal reluctance vs everyone else's immediate accommodation) The other big reason I think Moriarty the Patriot is the BEST Sherlock Holmes adaptation is with what happens after what's shown in the anime. I won't spoil it for anyone that's planning to read the manga, but the way the overall meaning and story of the plot *shifts* with the changes of the main leads... It's beautiful to read.
I absolutely love this anime because I love mystery and detective kind of stuff and this gives me everything I want!! Also then the Dub and sub are amazing, and the people are hot!! Perfection✨

I love Moriarty up to the point where William does a complete180 in personality and is like "I'm the greatest evil of all and must die!" It's not so bad in the anime because of how much of everyone elses' stories were cut out but it's really jarring to watch everyone in his group not activity do anything about it (Turning to someone none of them know through a hole in the wall doesn't count.) especially when the Moriartys were almost codependent through the series. Then the story pulls the "Love interest" is the only one who can get through to them thing...like bruh this is the same character who threated to cut a chunk of flesh out of someone as a kid without batting an eye. You're telling me, he's secretly been angsting over his crimes all this time?
I view this last twist a little differently. I would not say it was even a twist to begin with. It was slightly hinted at when they dealt with Jack the ripper, he (they) was both wanted by the citizens and the police yet they could not unite and catch him together and the inspector (forgot his name) that Lestrade wanted to expose was going to use that opportunity to disarm the people and possible start a huge bloody fight with lots and lots of victim. To stop the escalation William knew that he needed to make both parties direct their anger and hatred towards the same person which is why he and his people orchestrated the whole thing and made them chase after Jack an then Fred while he and Louis got rid of the Jack the ripper organisation. He knew that to solve an issue people needed to have a mutual target/ person to blame and only then will they work together. His plan was coming to its end, he only needed to kill a few more of London´s aristocratic nobilities to finally free the world from them. From the very beginning he had planned for the lord of crime to die at the very end and take all the crimes with him to his death while leaving behind a new changed world. He said to Albert when they were younger, something along the lines with "when you eliminate the devils from people´s hearts, only pureness is left". Sherlock was only recently added to his plan and after William realized that Sherlock was basically on the same level as him when it comes to intelligence, he decided the Sherlock should play the role of the light, the heroic detective who chases after the heartless serial killer that haunts the city. At the end, the only appropriate way to end his plan was to burn the slums, thus angering the lower classed people as well. Everyone in the city was now willing to kill the lord of crime, he had both harmed the nobility and poors, he was now a mutual target of people´s hate. He helped break that barrier between classes by forcing them to work together to save their city and the only possible "happy ending" was for the great detective to defeat the lord of crime. William was very well aware that everything he had done was wrong, his hands were stained beyond repair, he literally wanted to die less than needed to die. He was not that heartless devil from hell, he was the necessary evil as he had described himself. Both Sherlock and William had a lot in common thus why their encounters were rather enjoyable for both parties and they both interpreted it as "friendship" (William wanted to be friends him while Sherlock had already decided that William was his friend). Louis and Fred turned to Sherlock because they knew that he was the only person that seemed to be somewhat on William´s level, they also knew about William´s plan for his end and they that he would want Sherlock to be the one who kills him thus why it made sense for them to ask him for help. I understand that it was a sudden change at the end because Sherlock was suddenly ready to die with William but I feel like it was still so brilliantly done. Sorry for the long comment :)
It’s probably redundant considering you’re a fan of Sherlock so you probably know about this already but The Great Ace Attorney also does a good job at capturing the quirky, fun side of Sherlock as well, even if it’s exaggerated in typical Ace Attorney manners. Of course in the localization, you have to deal with the JoJo esque censorship of using his Lupin name instead of his actual one but I’d still recommend trying it if for whatever reason you haven’t already. Plus, it does some cool things concerning Watson’s relationship. Edit: failed ratio comment ⬇️ lol
No... No, it isn't. As far as I'm concerned, RDJ's version was better. Moriarty the patriot takes a weird loose spin on the original story, so it's more fanfic.
@@nikoliniminizoaki2542 No, that's what a fanfic is. An adaptation that deviates too far from the original story isn't an adaptation anymore, it's something new.

Oh, please! It doesn't even hold a candle to Moriarty. 🤣 Nevermind the source material.
Hey if you love fun Sherlocks, have you heard about the great ace attorney chronicles? It has a goofball Sherlock whos a bit of a butt but its fun
You mean the great Herlock Sholmes!?!? Technically isn't Sherlock but oh well he's awesome!!!
@@RiverdudeCovers yeah he's so cool
yes each the anime but read the manga 1st
No...
No, it isn't.
As far as I'm concerned, RDJ's version was better.
Moriarty the patriot takes a weird loose spin on the original story, so it's more fanfic.
it's an adaptation. that's the point. it would be meaningless if it didn't take a new spin on things

No, that's what a fanfic is.
An adaptation that deviates too far from the original story isn't an adaptation anymore, it's something new.
Its poorly written in my opinions.
...with poor ending, where Moriarty is a dumber character in season 2 than in season 1...
He's not dumber, he just finally has time to be a normal human instead of some evil suicidal Mastermind planning the downfall of a country
