Nothing will beat the days from late 91 to 94. I worked with The Rhythmic State during 93/96 & we played the Metro more times than I can remember. It was one of our favourite gigs whenever we were playing there. Magical hedonistic times. 🕊️👈🤯
Started going there in 1990, when it closed in the early hours we would go back to Glasgow because the clubs were open late, Glasgow was the European city or culture 1990, what a time to be alive 👍💥🍻💯
the clubs in Glasgow were open till 6am that year (if my memory is correct?) i went to Warehouse, Dunlop street (behind St Enoch Centre). was a very young Marc Smith there before he did Hacienda. lots of Acid. wild.
Used to go every Saturday 91-94. A certain Scottish producer, "S.B.", in my eyes ruined the scene putting out tons of samey tunes, same formula under his own name & ton of aliases. Metro 91-93 was magical, mix of piano & rave tracks. 94 onwards that shitty 155bpm ravecore shite. Stopped going to Metro mid 94.
Very interesting, we never dived too deep into it but think a documentary purely focusing on the 90s scene at the Metro/around Ayrshire would be interesting!
A bit harsh regarding Scott brown,if it wasn’t for him a lot of the other Scottish PA’s wouldn’t have had the success they did from having him write their tunes as he was behind a lot of them as he wrote so much music around that time he had to give them to other acts to perform.
Metro hahahaha you obviously never went to PURE in the Venue Edinburgh , members only club where Twitch and Brainstorm played real house and Techno not the cheesy italian piano stuff that Joe deacon used to talk over his attempt at mixing............

Amazing memories, we never explored it too much but it would be great to do a video focussing on the 90s and capture people’s memories!
Was in the metro this year what a night joe deacon was class
Loved the Metro but Joe Deacon was not a good DJ but he did play great tunes and the place was bouncing.
On the balcony tonight
There were three cinemas in Saltcoats. The Countess cinema was in the town hall.
Oh wow, amazing to think there were so many cinemas in Saltcoats! Thanks for watching
👍
Joe do you want to buy any tapes deacon , oh the metro was class
If only most of us could remember the great nights at the metro. 😅Public domain operation blade?
We might need to film some reenactments! 🎬

We’ll admit it, most of us are too young to have experienced it first hand but there’s clearly a lot of love for the metro in Ayrshire 🎧
