DUDE!!!!!!! That sucks man!!!!! Nothing like pissing away money but thank you, I was going to get the same motors for my race Clod.. Now I'm looking at LRP V10 motors (found mostly in the UK), just rotate the end bell 180 degrees for the rear motor and make sure both are set at zero timing. FASTER!!! I had 13 turns in my Race Clod and if memory serves, it went 17 or 18mph on 2S. All in all, Great video and Thank You for the Mention!!! ATB my friend... we'll get you faster somehow..
Hi Bob. Well at least the green sticker goes with the body 😂 I'm going to do a vid comparing the RPM of Tamiya silver cans to HH and a Absima Thrust 15T. Oh and yes the HH is 3 slot arms. No worries dude Many thanks and best wishes matey.
@@robbrennanrc The stickers do match.. I know they use to sell handheld tachometers for rc plane props, also used on tires & motor shafts with a piece of tape. Ok, so they are 3 slot arms, the lack of rpm must be due to the short armature, It's the only reason for the lack of speed (or just crappy motors). However, Holmes builds crawler motors not really race motors and has a strong following. Team Brood also sells motors and also matched pairs for Clods, But cost much more than the Holmes Hobbies motors. The other way to gain speed is by increasing voltage. There isn't a lot of room for a 3S hard case lipo but a soft case 3S might fit in the stock battery slot (I don't care for soft case lipo packs cause they get damaged faster and a damaged lipo is the kind that catch fire). I know you don't use lipo and I also know Mark has a balance charger for them (not sure if it does 3S) But you could try one then put it in a lipo safe bag then in an old cooking pot then outside out of the rain. Then you can sell it on if you wanted to. A 7 cell (8.4v) Nimh stick pack will also fit in the stock location (remove the plugs in the battery covers) and you have almost 10 volts for about 30 seconds.....
Your results are surprising. I have those same motors in one of my Clods and it's a beast. I don't know it's top speed, but I had to fabricate a wheelie bar for it. I run 2s Lipo.
What everyone is overlooking is the power that they are drawing. You’re running them on a standard nimh battery which is limiting how much power they can ‘suck up’ they need feeding more power. At least 2s lipo or better still 3s, chuck a 3s in there and do another speed run video. It’ll more than double that speed 😊
Yup! Pretty much what I figured. Top speed held hostage to the limiting factor of low gearing. Maybe some slightly bigger tires will get you over the threshold!😝 It’s a Clod buster but it ain’t no Speed Buster! Great video guys! You always make ‘em fun!💯👊🏼🤪🥳
Hiya Rob. What I love is the way that Mark takes the piss out of you when all your upgrades come to nothing. Such a British thing to do between friends! I remember Addam of the RC Playground talking about motor timing and how it had to be zero on these because one of them is going in reverse. It was something like that anyway but he did an interesting demo showing one wheel going faster than the other if you used the wrong type of motor. Those motors you got might make something else go a bit faster possibly. I like the last bit where you just cut off before the big swear 🤣 Very entertaining mate 😁
Hay Pete. Yeah I know, it's not right is it! As for the timing one of the reasons I went for these was they stated they were compatible with the Clod i.e. timing set to 0. They might but they do really go with the Clod's body colour 😅 Actually Whoever was saying it stopped themselves just in time. Many thanks and ATB matey.
I know it must be down to the gearing, but I did really think yours looked quicker and faster than Mark's with the standard motors,I was surprised that they both did 10mph. Great video as always Rob 👍👌
It's geared like that, I doubt you will get much more out of it. Maybe if you change pinions. But look at it Rob! It looks amazing bouncing around, having fun tumbling all over 😂
Hay Craig Well I think they should have been faster but will find out soon if the HH spins faster as just got a tachometer to do some testing. Many thanks and ATB to you and the rest of the OAG gang.
No way!!! I was thinking it'd be a screamer 😳, I feel sorry for you spending all that cash but looking on the bright side it still looks awesome Cobber👍🦘🇦🇺
Cheers mate. Others have said about using 21T but the orange stickers wouldn't look as good as these green on the 15T 🤣😂😅 Thanks for watching cobber and ATB
10mph?! Oh dear....🤣🤣 The Clod Buster has never exactly been a speed machine has it? Oddly enough they look faster off-road than on-road. Excellent video!!
Yeah 😅 Good test! Well, a 1/1 car with 500 horse-powers doesn’t run that fast in First Gear ☺️ I bet your motors are good, and has a higher RPM than the silver cans. Just need to change the gear ratio for them to show it. Is the gear mesh on the Clod/Bull limited to certain pinions or? I do have a similar experience changing out 2 x Silver Cans on my Dual Hunter for 2 x 20T and only option was two tooth more in pinion size, which didn’t add that much top speed. Anyways, you two put on a good show 😊
Well, tat didn't go as planned. Looks like those motors are 5 slot vs stock which are 3 slot. You could use bigger pinions, but I don't know if Clod accepts them. Cheers mate.
Unfortunately they are 3 slot and the Clod only has holes for the one size of pinion, but hay they look good with the green of the body. Thanks for watching and ATB my friend.
Quiet dissapointing. With 15T it should go right to the moon. But thinking of the energy equation what you win on the rpms you loose on the torque side. The motors and gears have to move a lot of weight. Maybe you'll find motors in the middle, 21T or so. Just a little improvement for the speed and enough power for this monster.🤔 Great wheelie show at the end Rob.
Hi Dirk. You may be right but they do look good with the green of the body hehe. Yeah they do seem to wheelie rather easily. Many thanks and ATB buddy.
That should go faster with the 15T motors I put the RC4wd 20T crawler motors in mine and they go much faster than 10mph? Stange two things that may be going on here.. First your battery pack was not good enough to power the two 15T motors? or these could be timed 15T motors and ones running in reverse and the other is running the correct way? I would try a good lipo in it and see what happens...either that or Mark pre rigged the GPS to only hit 10MPH! LOL!!!
Zero timing motors.. I think its the short armatures (540 size can but with a fan), great for torque but not rpm. I don't think these are 5 slot arms, also slow even with a low turn (crawler motors), I think these are 3 slot arms but again, short arm. I put 23 turn Tamiya Super Sport TZ motors in my Gray Clod, on 2S, only hit 13 or 14 mph (yes, I re-worked them).
If they are tuned motors, the front one will be a bit quicker than the rear one as you reversed the motor wires for the resr one. In loose dirt some people like the dual motor's to work that way. I went with zero timed in my twin motor rig. That was just my OCD taking over. 😂
Hi Damian. Timing on these is zero. But just to see I am going to run a comparison of the RPM. Got a cheap tachometer so won't hold much to the actual figures just if one's faster than the other. Many thanks for watching and ATB buddy.
Mine with the 21t Holmes motors is punchier than Grayson’s with the stock silver cans but they both are the same speed. Mine has bearings and Grayson’s bushings and that makes no difference either
I think these motors are defying the laws of physics or reality (something like that 😂🤣😅) as they should spin faster and thus move the truck faster in my opinion. Oh well at least they go with the body 😆 Many thanks Thad and ATB to you and the family my friend.
Argh, what a disappointment, Rob! But all is not bad, dude! I have those Holmes Retro motors in a couple buggies now, and they are actually quite awesome! I don't know what went wrong in the Clod, maybe Damian's comment sort of explains, regarding the timing, maybe they are working against each other... But otherwise, just go back to Silver cans and use the Holmes motors in some rwd buggies, and they will fly for sure!
Yeah but they do look good with the matching sticker colour 😂😅 There's no timing settings so they are as fast forward as reverse. Oh well it was one of those things, worth a try. Many thanks and best wishes matey.
I use a holmes retro 19turn in a dt02 sandrover goes great .and a holmes retro 21turn in a Madbull great motors in them two cars.could be the torque isn’t enough in them motors being 15turn maybe 21 would be better to move the weight and friction of them big tyres ,I found the 19turn couldn’t move the mad bull as good as the 21 turn does being bigger tyres than the sandrover .
You could be right but anyway I will leave them in as the decal goes really well with the body colour 😁🙂 Thanks for watching and all the best my friend
Thanks for trying and saying it didn’t work!
Cool freestyle action in the end there!!
3s lipo will help. Thats what i run my clods on.

I feel the same way. 3S will increase speed bit it might also bring the magic smoke out of the ESC and the motors though.
The motors may not have added to the speed but they sure look great. They match the colour of you Clod very well too. Looks great!👍😊
Many thanks and I have to agree about the looks. ATB and stay safe my friend.
Rob they look nice and match your bodyshell colour! Must be worth it lol hope that helps!
Well of course that was the reason I got the 15T ones to match the truck 😂Many thanks James and ATB fella.
Cool paint job.😎

It’s a Clod buster but it ain’t no Speed Buster! Great video guys! You always make ‘em fun!💯👊🏼🤪🥳
I've decided now that I got them cuz they go with the body colour and not because I was hoping it would be faster 😮😁😂🤣 Many thanks and ATB my friend.

Looked faster than that to me Rob! Those motors look great though pal! Wonder if they are any quicker in a buggy?
Hay Craig Well I think they should have been faster but will find out soon if the HH spins faster as just got a tachometer to do some testing. Many thanks and ATB to you and the rest of the OAG gang.

You guys need to test them with li Po's. Please.

15t, wow, that will haul
I wish 😂🤣

In the United States those motors are 14.99. maybe you should try it again with a lipo.

Here is a Clod with stock motors & stock gearing... He's just using a 3S lipo pack... ua-cam.com/video/fFESQcKQmDQ/v-deo.html
That’s faster off the line for sure but with the gearing they can only go so fast..
Yeah Mark thought it had more torque than his when we were running the bats down.
£46 well spent there Rob🥲😉still they look nice and sure you’ll get to use them in more suitable cars
Oh I don't know they go so well with the body colour I am going to leave them in for the moment anyway. Thanks for watching and ATB fella.
