- "X-Men: The Animated Series," a classic of early 1990s animation, was the first successful animated adaptation of Marvel's band of mutants. The show, which premiered in 1992 and continued for 76 episodes over five seasons, is Marvel's longest-running television series. Despite being a fairly faithful adaptation of the comics and acting as many fans' first introduction to the characters, it hasn't aged as elegantly as one might think due to its low production quality.
The show made it clear that Xavier's mansion was a school for mutant education, not just a cool place for the X-Men to hang out in between missions. The majority of the characters in Evolution are teenagers who have only recently discovered their mutant abilities, rather than X-heroes in their prime. While a few well-known mutants, including as Cyclops and Jean Grey, were slightly older than the primary cast, which included Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and newcomer Spyke, only Storm, Professor X, and Wolverine stayed true to their comic book ages.
They were no longer just comrades and colleagues, but teachers and mentors to the next generation of mutants, despite the fact that they were all X-Men. In this video, we will take a look at the 15 best episodes to come out of this animated series.

Yeah... The only problem was that it has almost nothing to do with the comics X-Men story. This series cannot be considered a real X-Men adaptation.

Batman was the kind of comic book story that didn't need to be that faithful to the comics in order to make a quality animated series. X-Men is. It's that simple. Batman and X-Men are very different pal... Learn to be distinctions LOL.
@@ShadowSonic2 Batman allows for a lot more variety and versatility and divertion from the comics. X-Men doesn't. A good show about Batman that diverts quite a lot from the comics can be made. Not the same with X-Men. They are very different from many points of view.

Agreed! It’s sad it got cut off and we saw what was planned with that vision of the future with Professor X. I wanted to see more and now, with the original show returning, it gives me hope X-Men: Evolution could return. Lots of stories to still tell.
I personally loved Xmen evolution... But there were quite a few hardcore gatekeeper fans of the 90s cartoon that didn't care for it...

I loved Scott McNeil as Logan. That man helped make my childhood cartoon time awesome.
He was indeed the perfect fit. Just like he was the perfect fit for Dinobot in Beast Wars or Piccolo in Dragonball.
The wolverine and the x-men series was also interesting, with Xavier and Jean going missing,, and Cyclops refusing to join the reformed group because of it,but unfortunately we only ever got the first season in the USA.

I watched both this show and X Men: TAS back to back and loved them both! No comparison!!! Hoping that this show comes back!
I grew up with the show.
It just got so much nostalgia to it.
I grew up around both shows and loved them very much from then to now. Both series captured the essence of X-men and even later arcs with the discrimination was done very well. Personal very episode overall was X-23 episodes because it gave me a great new character , made wolverine basically a dad before Logan came out or new comics of her and finally just great detail behind them. Thanks for making a good top 15 on my childhood
I love how X-men have so many banger shows, movies, and comics. Not to mention action figures and video games
They are bringing back the original X Men Animated Series from 1992, Titled X -MEN '97, as it's a continuation of the TV series.
If it goes woke I wouldn't count on it being any good.

I ended up buying all of the all of the Apocalypse related X-Men Evolution episodes at some point. So mad we never got that Age of Apocalypse season though.

I watch X-Men evolution before I did the 1992 X-Men I finally got a taste for a years later when it started showing reruns on Jetix best thing too cuz I wouldn't got it into the show as I did and I got to see a lot of my favorite '90s cartoons like Batman, Superman and Spider-Man.

Next to shutting down Apocalypse’s machine, lifting Juggernaut and throwing him like a rag doll was Rogue’s coolest moment in the show
I call Dark Horizon the original Infinity War, I remember being so mad at that ending because I watched it on DVD and we couldn’t find it on cable TV or any free website to watch it on without subscribing

X-men evolution was closest thing Fox' X-men movies got animated(in terms of animated X-men stuff make Mutants only superpowered beings that exists in the universe)

@@Masonicon He's not a superhuman. He has no powers. The serum only gave him peak human physical condition. Other than that he's just really good at fighting and throwing his shield. Also, I don't think he was really a token since he provided some backstory on both Wolverine and Magneto and tied into Magneto revitalizing himself.

As a fan of the animated series (92) I hated Evol at first, with its chatty Wolverine and teen drama setting. Since then it has grown to a show that I can respect, if not enjoy as much as the original.

Very good video, but with respect, PROFESSOR Xavier has never been called “Doctor Xavier”.
This xmen version is the best. I mean the best version: storyline, powers sfx and soundeffects and/or orchestra associated with some of powers e.g. Storm, voice acting, appropriate voice acting type, action sequence, convincing sfx to showcase how telepathy and telekinetic force field works, depiction of Storm as African, matured and 2nd to the leader type, Rogue as Short-haired emo Rogue, Goth Wanda (her powers' sfx though I can't say good, but understandable as it was probably intended to show she is using mutant probability powers instead of magic hexes).
I loved how they made apocalypse and omega red look
I've always liked the 92' series better, but I think that's largely due to the animation style. I have hundreds of x-men comics and the 92 series resembles the comics a little more to me, drawing wise that is.

X-Men: Evolution deserves revival, not the 90's cartoon. There were so many things planned for at least 3 more seasons of Evolution. Like killing off Jean Grey, Rogue and Cyclops getting together, Magneto's redemption, introduction of Deadpool, Emma Frost and Psylocke, moving away from the high school setting completely, Nightcrawler throwing away his hologram disguise for good and I'm not sure but I heard somewhere that the final season would've tackled the Days of Future Past storyline.

The fact that this series ended over 18 Years ago is truly a fact I still try to figure out. Was 4 - 7 Years throughout the series run and grew up watching it on YTV with it truly capturing the X Men in a time capluse unlike any other. Was able to re-watch again thankfully throughout the Summer of 2009 and throughout along with the Spectacular Spider-Man series at the time and being 12-13 at that point, rewatching the scene with the Bayville sirens and the girls dancing... really got a different reaction compared to when I was younger.
The fact that out if the 15 chosen so many was picked from the season 2 finale into season 3 really can show how top tier it was during that time. Really by that point right before the two part finale when Professor X went to go visit Wanda in the asylum, to Mystique returning after nearly a whole season, the Brotherhood planning on going after Magento buy using the X Men as a Test with them having to retreat for the first time from Wanda and having to loss which leads into the two part.. where everything just went off the wall from beginning to end. Truly a great concept to use in the future to expose Mutants in later stories.
This show.. was without a doubt a gem to have and severally Underrated and truly glad that after over two Decades now, us finally actually getting it's fair shake as well which is pretty neat👌.

I didn't even like it when came out seemed like some early 2000's movie crap. But years later I loved evolution especially towards the end. I like how initially the public doesn't know about mutants. So they got these powers and gotta keep them totally hidden. We get to see the mass exposure which was done perfect. Some of the best episodes in fact. Unlike tas evolution got much better for the final season each season improved somewhat. The tone and art style was way darker by the last season too. And was starting to feel like tas from the 90's somewhat. While the 90's x men almost always wins for me evolution is way better than Wolverine and the Dick riders I mean X men.

this show was ok....wasn't crazy about the high school setting and it just geared younger then I would have liked certain xmen storylines and characters wouldn't have worked as well in evolution due to the teeny booper vibe...also at the time of the xmen tas it was the most popular comic around by 2000 it was still popular but it cooled off quite a bit.

LOL... How the hell can you call this a "successor" to the 1990s series? This was basically a very heavily modified version of the X-Men story from the comics to appeal to a high school teenager audience primarily. It is so different from anything in the comics that you might as well not even call it "X-Men". You can argue that it was a well-made animated series but that it was a good X-Men adaptation? Hell no! And certainly not a "successor" to the 1990s. Do you even know what that word means...? LOL. The '97 series that will come out this year will be a successor, however that one will be a lot worse than Evolution given all that "woke" crap that injected in it.
