Kendon Stand-up Fold away Motorcycle Lift - Unboxing, Assembly and Review

- I was just minutes away from going out to purchase the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift as they had published their yearly coupon for 100$ off, when I saw in my recommended searches this lift which has the added feature of being able to fold away when not in use. If you are like me and have limited space, this is quite intriguing, so I investigated further.
The only complaints I saw about this lift were addressed in what they call the 2019 series, the one now currently in production and the one I've purchased. This one that I have is the largest of this model of lifts. At roughly 3 times the cost of the Harbor Freight lift, I'll point out that the freight delivery from California was included in the cost.
The lift arrived through roadrunner freight on schedule without issue on a pallet in a small crate. I demonstrate the unpacking off of the crate and the assembly as per the instructions, noting one small area of the instructions that was out of date with the current model pertaining to the guide rails.
As it sits on the floor it takes little more space than a bike itself, its not a large stand as expected. initially tests are done without a bike. I find a nice place for setting up my test, then giving the unit an initial cleaning. Initially jacking up the lift I noticed that as the design brings the stand forward, not to have the lift initially situated too close to the wall when loading the bike, a good foot would be helpful. Also the safety bar isn't spring loaded to lock into all of the gates, gravity locks it into the first two. There is also no top lock when lowering the jack.
Testing the next round with the pneumatic pump, I had to change it to match my garage's fittings. It worked very nicely. Ill point out when closing the valve not to use excessive force, or its very hard to open as it binds. I was confident at this point to put my bike on. already having ratchet straps on the bars I roll it up onto the wheel locks. If you have narrow tires like I do, the lock is not adjustable so don't expect it to hold your bike up until the straps are tightened.
It takes about 100 manual pumps to lift a bike. Evaluating the working area we see a good height as well as rear support eyelets. Also the rear section of the lift could be removed if there was a jack on the frame to do rear work. Lowering the bike worked fine, as well as removal.
With the lift empty, the ramp is pulled and I start the storage procedure. The rear section is folded and secured, all of the parts stowed. The lift is pulled vertical and rolled to the wall for some comparisons with other garage items. Taking up less space than my vacuum cleaner.
I still opted to install some nylon security straps into the wall just in case of a mishap, with 350lbs toggle bolts. All together, this lift is a winner in my book. It will be in many continuing motorcycle videos to come.

finally got to see a good vidoe on this lift thanks
No problem 👍
@@retrotechandelectronics How do you still like it?
Great review on this! I remember when these came out and it seems like I remember them in the 80's or 90's. Didn't have much interest in them then but definitely like the space-saving features now. Thanks for the video.
My shovelhead series moves to this lift during the engine installation video onward. its proven great except for the hydraulic knob.
A comprehensive, practical and realistic review of this bike lift. Good safety pointers!
I check once in a while to see when it will be available again. I don’t know if it’s backordered or not in production.
Finally....someone does a great vid on the lift.
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Excellent detailed product brief. And great editing.
Much appreciated!
Brilliant video well done, thx. going for the Kendon now, not the Pitsburg-a-china from HF.
i have no complaints against the harbour freight lift, but the fold up feature sealed the deal for me. Ironically, its rare I dont have a bike on the lift.
What a great, well-put video. I’m hoping to get a used one soon (these aren’t made anymore, and I put a deposit on one that I found on OfferUp).
I might have some future questions for ya (just started a technician job for a utility).
Anyway, appreciate the great info., and hope u continue w/ the awesome vids.
Go Navy!
Wow really? They stopped making these? Why?
The sport bike version is still available on their website
Good review. As expected and thank you.
Thanks for watching!
My bike is on it now, starting around chapter 19 in the series as the engine goes in, it will be making an almost constant appearance.
Nice Delorean, dude!! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks!
Great, very thorough review.
Was wondering if anything could be added to safely support the bike while elevating the front and rear whees to remove them for changing out tires. The video did mention jacking the frame to lift the rear wheel. Wonder if a similar thing could be done for safely supporting the fork?
GReat review. Very informantive. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent review! Have you created a follow up review?
Thank you.... The lift doesnt really need a follow up video. Its been used in many subsequent videos. A dedicated video would provide anything new.
I’ve been considering this lift after getting rid of my full size Atlas lift…which was awesome, but just took up too much space.
This is a great lift. Have you checked on current cost or availability?
@@retrotechandelectronics Sportbike version is still available according to their site, which is perfect as I have a Ducati Panigale. The Cruiser/big bike versions are sold out.
Nice video. Now try pushing a 900lb Harley UL on to that lift. Almost impossible. I have one of those lifts. Also. Once the bike is in place with that chock. Almost impossible to get the bike out of it. Personnel experience .
The wet weight of the vstar1100 is 700 pounds so it’s not that far off and regularly goes on the lift
I wonder if they didnt get much sales on these cuz even on the kendon website they are sold out with no re stock in site. bummer. this would be perfect for me right now
What a shame, its an awesome lift.
FYI - I just bought one so they are available.
Excellent review. I ordered one!
Good choice!
Does it wobble or otherwise feel like it would fall to the side when a bike is on it?
I’ve pulled this one from side to side with the bike on it and did not feel that it would tip.
@@retrotechandelectronics awesome that was the main concern i had. And theres next to no reviews on this lift. Thank you
I put my rocker c on mine and have no issues with wobble , or any stability concerns
Thanks for this video. I really like the design but I'm concerned about the width of the platform. I doubt I could push my thunderbird up that ramp, but I'm not sure that width lends itself to riding up either
Aside from the easier 2 person push up possibility, ive seen some folks with larger bikes build a small removable structure that wraps around both sides so that they can ride it up and have a place for their feet.
Solid lift, but no staples in the manual, May be a dealbreaker
I know, you would think for the price you would get staples....
I love mine
Good to hear, I havent heard back from many people about this lift, i am using it in several upcoming videos.
@@retrotechandelectronics do you have the tool trays ?
@@twistedfuk666 no, I thought that expensive for what it was.
@@retrotechandelectronics i agree, was just curious how well they work and if they are worth the cost
It is unfortunately made in China.
That and everything else.
