    I set out to build the fastest and cheapest WL TOYS A979-B that I could without moding the chassis and without any significant upgrades.
    So I picked up the cheapest and fastest. 5200KV 540 brushless motor combo on bey for under 30 bucks.
    Finally put it in and only ran into some issues along the way, resolved them all and now the wheels can BALOON as much as they want.
    Lets hope the drivetrain can take the power.

    I've found a good alternative to cutting slots into stubborn hex screws is to instead try a Torx driver. Because they're tapered, the more you push on the driver the more the splines will dig into the apexes of the hex instead of camming out the faces like a hex key does.

    It looks badass! I whacked the crap out of my wrist when I revved mine up, and one popped, lol I had to lay my escs on thier side, worked great. I put 2-550/4000kv brushless motors in a 124019, short preview if you would like to see it. Thanks!

    Next time use a soldering iron to heat the screws that hold the motor on. It will loosen the thread lock.

      Fortunately I watched your post before tacking mine. The very first thing I had to deal with was tight pinion, and motor mounts. I hadn't seen the solder gun suggestion, so I grabbed a propane torch and set it at smallest flame I could. I pointed it at the immovable grub, and mounting screws, and they came out easily after less than 30 seconds. Loctite unlocks easily when warmed up.

    I built the same thing about a year ago and it still running just fine. Your the only other person I’ve seen put 5200kv motor on A979b. My has 5200kv , hobbywing 120a esc , all metal gears , Aluminum chassis , upgraded rims, 3s battery, Savox servo and drift assist to keep it going straight.

      Hey man, thanks for the feedback!!! I also purchased a cheap Chinese drift controller assists box for this (will try it out soon). I figured the highest KV is the way to go, it if breaks the car, then I will just stick it somewhere else, LOL. right!!! I have also since gotten 1/10 foam wheels and a fun 1/10 hub conversion ( no video on that yet).

I need to really upgrade the steering parts, it is way to wobbly and unstable at all speeds. No idea about the metal chassis, But I'd recommend you get a silver color one, because any scratched on the colored ones will look so bad when it's scratched.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 років тому +1

      I did try the motor system with a 3S, it runs fine. Ofcourse I did not do an actual road test yet, that is coming soon. Generally the more powerful brushless systems pull more than 20C of current. The motor and ESC combo will pull a certain amount of current that it's rated for, generally the battery will be limiting the system if it's less then that amount. 20C discharge is a good safe battery to go with on the other hand.

      Hey buddy, thanks for checking out this video. It sounds like your speed controller is not arming correctly. The only time it wouldn’t power your motor is if the wires are incorrectly, plugged in, or it is not arming correctly. Try to unplug everything and plug it back in and make sure to turn your radio on first then the car it should arm.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 років тому +1

      yoo!! is your A969 the A or B version? If it's the A version with the smaller 390 sized motor then you will need the motor mount and pinion for sure. If you already have the 540 stock can motor installed in the B version then this will be a direct drop it, nothing at all needed. Even the pinion and motor mount will be reused. Yes, there are many of these 60-80A 540 motor models sold right now. Banggood has a good deal on one now. Check my video description for a link to a good system I would use.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  4 роки тому +1

      hey man! I think that is the correct shaft size. Generally all 540 size motors have the same 3.175 MM motor shaft size. The 1.8 scale motors tend to always use 5 MM shafts. As long as your pinion can go onto the motor shaft and not be loose, you will be good.

    • @whatelseison8970
      @whatelseison8970 3 роки тому

      BTW, 3.175 mm = 1/8th inch. Like exactly. The only other really common size for motor shafts that's close to that is 3 mm, but it's really easy to drill that out. The only thing that might make things hard for you is whether your motor shaft is keyed differently or not at all.

      this Flysky gt3B is a great remote because the receivers are cheap and reliable, plus it has 10 model memory, so you can just buy spare receivers and use the same remote for unto ten models. When you get the remote and receivers you will need to bind them (I've got a video on here that shows how). For the money this remote is the best overall, many RC hobbyists use it, it's never let me down.

      sounds like you are saying if this remote will work with the factory 2 in 1 ESC/reciever in the car. The answer is NO. You will just install the receiver that your new flysky comes with in the car, bind it. Then you would need a hobby grade ESC and servo (like the ones I am using).

      hello my dude. If you want to use anything other than a brushed motor you will need a brushless ESC and a new radio system. This model uses a 2-in1 ESC and Receiver design, so you're going to have to change everything to make it brushless. Trust me, keep it brushed. It's cheaper. If you want a brushless just buy another model that is alwready brushless, less headaches that way. Check my channel for the brushless REMO 1935 truck, it's great and costs less than 100.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  5 років тому +1

      hello, a motor's KV rating means the RPM per Volt. So the higher the KV number, (1800-7600) the faster it will turn with the same battery. Therefore a 4000KV motor is faster than a 3500KV motor. I consider anything above 4000KV to be a quick motor.

      I used to have the traxxas X0-1, was fast. But also cost over 700 bucks to buy. The batteries are 6S and cost more than this whole build. In reality the XO-1 is a low KV motor, so it has a lot of torque but also needs a lot of voltage to get it moving.
