    drills somehow enhanced a persons awareness and alertness and teaches each part of the body what to do on unexpected circumstamces like being thrown with a punch or being poke with a knife or when someone tries to kick you... it is like riding a bicycle that you will never have to mind the pedals because your feet will automatically kick on the pedals without looking on it...

    People in the comment section…this is just a DRILL…I repeat a DRILL!! Of course, that’s not how someone will fight you if they have a knife. It’s literally for training your muscles to react to when a knife will be thrusted towards you. In simple terms, it’s like a mock/practice exam, but in reality the real exam is nothing like the practice exam.

      @@charlespalding no it’s not. It’s like one training on a wing Chun dummy for muscle memory. Of course, in reality…you’re not gonna be facing a wing Chun dummy…you’re gonna be facing someone that strikes back. That’s what I’m saying. It’s simply a drill

    To all the “this won’t work on the streets” key board warriors - Silat/ arnis was developed by warrior tribes 500 years ago when people fought in the jungles armed with either two curved blades or one. It also taught how to survive if you are disarmed and they have a curved blade. Warriors had little to no body armour given the heat of the jungles. To this day our military is trained in modern versions of this art. I’d say it’s “street worthy”

    Sure, if you’re able to, run away from a knife fight, no doubt. I’m concerned, however, for situations in which you cannot run away and must act. Act without hesitation, and make your actions count. This is a good drill for that

  • @ryanpowell266
    @ryanpowell266 Рік тому +6

    This is a demonstration of training to build muscle memory. All of you here complaining it won't work have to realize that knife attacks are not an ideal situation. There is no end all remedy that guarantees your safety. You're going to get fucked up. You might die. You might live the rest of your life disfigured, and disabled. Regardless of any of that this is legitimate advice. Of course it's very likely you're still going to get hurt, but what he's teaching here can absolutely lessen the severity of the final outcome. You have to prepare for the fucked up reality that your odds are never going to be good in a knife attack, but with this type of training your odds can be better. Why wouldn't you want to do that? The techniques he's using here such as the blocking, and redirecting the attacking arm, while simultaneously sidestepping, and trapping the arm in place are all techniques that militaries across the world teach their soldiers, and there's a good reason for that. Because it works. This is just about the best you can do in a bad situation.

      Exactly. The problem with all drills in knife defense is the other guy is not allowed to hit you with all your force while you try to ''stab'' him. People think it wont work but i saw a guy accidently hit a partner who was trying to shank him and he knocked him out and was on the ground and dropped the knife. Now if the atacker is skilled in knives thats a big problem then

      First option is to run...? What if the attacker, is faster than you? You'll get three or four steps, and, a knife in your back. It's probably just as easy to hit the heart from the rear, as it is from the front. What if the attacker, has hella stamina, and, can chase you until you pass out from exhaustion...?
      It's advisable to learn and PRACTICE this technique, and, become proficient with it. It is quite impressive, and, I would expect this fighting style, would be very effective. Sensei was very fast and smooth performing this move.

    Por supuesto que es solo un ensayo en situaciones reales de peleas con cuchillo, SIEMPRE vas a resultar cortado,, inclusive si crees que ganaste la pelea.

      And get stabbed in the back . I'd prefer to take my chances outfitting him ymthen out running him . Depends on what your strengths are I suppose . Survive is the objective not to win. There are no winners .

      Running is the best self defense, this applies when youre cornered or no time run. Coz if you run and get cornered you will be tired and catching your breath. You will have less chances to survive even if you know how to fight.

      At least at 50.mtrs distance, the 1.inch bulls eye mark must be hit...
      Later on, you were moving and also the target- yet you can still score a hit at 50. mtrs distance!...

    drills are meant to practice your reflexes and so on, you train other skills too. when crap happens your training kicks in and instincts your body would just respond the best way posible if you have had enough training. same thing applies in other martial arts like bjj, judo, boxing, kick boxing. Sometimes you don't even know what you are doing your body just moves. that's also the reason why it's dangerous to spar with pros if you are not trained enough and you trying to throw some haymakers their body would also respond. honestly if someone has a knife and they mug you just give them your money... I rather get hit by a bullet in none lethal areas than be stab by a knife anywhere.
