Real Drum Corps. Wow what a fantastic show. Loved the dynamics of the opener, the 3 against 4 feature in the ballad, the juggling snares in the percussion feature with the kazoo accompaniment. I think this is about the maximum amount of props and gags that should be allowed in drum corps to keep it entertaining but still down to earth. I appreciate the uniforms on all of the musicians, but modest costumes and props. No need for amplifiers and electronics for that wall of sound coming out of that horn line! Has to be the best 12th place show in history.
Totally agree with you! It was an honor competing against you and I'm so glad we had many shows together during 2nd tour. Most of all, thank you for the support at finals! 88 Madison Scout.
Well well well, all these years later, and OMG I still get the GOOSEBUMPS! Amazing energy, great arrangements. Snare line juggling in the solo? Wow! This is when DCI used the color guard for color and dancing, and the horn line was just pure power! No drumlines dancing around, etc., No gimmicky electronics. The drill was used for artistic color and told a story all in it's own. No need for an announcer on a microphone during the show to explain what's going on. The way drum corps was meant to be!
At 5:47, the corps is playing two completely different time signatures at the same time! If you've marched in drum corps, you know how incredibly difficult that is. It's not been done that often, because of the high difficulty level. I believe that The Cadets did it in 1989, as well, for the Les Mis show. ( My favorite cadets show of all time. )
My favorite Sky show!

Best horn line ever for a number 12 corps.
Was a fantastic year for sure...Very honored to be a part of that corps/drumline

Best 12th place corps STILL to this day!
The last minute and a half was just goosebump city!
It must have been incredible to play in that drum line!
The Sky Ryders were always the “warm fuzzy” corps.

Word. This is real drum corps.
Great energy, wonderful brass arrangements, passionate beats from percussion...Go SKY!!!
I saw this corp live in 1988. Thank you for this upload. Greatness lives.

YEP!!!!! One of my fave parts of the show!!
My high school copied this my senior year. We pulled it off well, obviously not as clean as this.
What a powerful intro. Real drum and bugle corps.
My all time favorite fun show based on Broadway show/movie. Well done!
Could this be the best placed 12th Corp ever, just for story telling and emotion?
@Kerry Lorah Well, obviously they were better!
@Kerry Lorah it's certainly is one of the best 12th place shows I've ever seen, and I've been in drum corps since 1985.
@kerrylorah560yeah..but they don’t have a finalist patch on their jackets.. sour grapes.
Seeing this makes me so excited for their return!
Sky Ryders are gone forever
Won’t be the same.
@@danmoyer5785Their instagram account and scheduled return in 2025 says otherwise
The amount of emotion in the closer is just incredible
How about a Sky Ryders alumni corps at Finals!!
Sky Ryders:
Warm and Fuzzy...also always my pleasure to kick the snot out of.
Did you march VK?
And not a single amp in sight. Drum corps the way it was meant to be.
