- Florence Beatrice Price graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in 1906. Her rise in prolificacy and recognition coincides with a dynamic cultural movement that spanned the 1920s and 30s. It was a movement driven by African American intellectuals and visionaries, otherwise known as the Harlem Renaissance. Sonata in E minor (won first prize in the 1932 Rodman Wanamaker Music Contest. She became the first woman composer of African descent to achieve both national and international recognition.

A new album comprising of largely unknown solo classical piano music will be released on 4 May 2018, bringing together for the first time the works of female composers long forgotten through history.

Thanks for posting this recording of such a great piece! Samantha, I downloaded your "Four Women" album from Amazon Music, but for some strange reason this movement (Track 1) on the album is missing. I think it was there when I first looked, but it seems to have disappeared. I see the track title on this link www.amazon.com/dp/B07C547SB9/ref=dm_ws_tlw_trk1 but when I click "Listen Now" it shows the whole album without this track.
