We just got back from 10 days on the NE coast. Maine, Mass. Rhode Island. My wife did lobster...rolls, omelette, bisque....I no do seafood at all. I did however sample aboot 30 craft breweries. Great trip.
Aside from the seafood, the Northeast is one of the greatest places in the country to try craft beer. I would say that Burlington, VT rivals Portland, OR as the greatest beer city in the U.S.
REALLY?? Well in our opinion you had the distinction of making the best roll in Maine. We will be back next year because I want to try the one with relish. Thanks for watching.
Moon pies are graham cracker crusts with marshmallow between, covered in chocolate. Whoopie Pies is cake crust filled with a vanilla, peanut butter or a chocolate cream. They are DELICIOUS!!!
Great video of that hard duty of lobster roll sampling lol! We met you at Reds Eats and enjoyed chatting about your ventures. Keep on with your enjoyable videos.
Thanks for the insight! Had kept seeing about Red’s being the best so glad to have another viewpoint! Don’t want to wait so long and know that there may be something out there better! Sometimes it’s the power of voice/advertising that convinces people what is best when it really might not be the best so glad to have your view on other options!
Hi guys, another enjoyable video, I know this was about lobster rolls and to be honest I’ve only had the one at Red’s Eats for $24 but found that we preferred to find a lobster pound where we could get 2 lobsters (soft shell) ear of corn and cup of coleslaw for $20 or 2 lobsters (hard shell) corn and coleslaw for $22. This being 2018 prices. Being land locked in Lincoln, Ne going to Maine was always a great trip for us so we would OD on seafood while there. Would be in Rockland for the lobster festival first week in August. I agree that Two Lights is a beautiful spot to enjoy a meal. Thanks for the wonder memories of Maine. ,
Thanks for watching! We also enjoy the lobsters at a pound. One of our favorites is Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound just outside of Acadia N.P. We scoop up a bucket of seawater and steam them with all the fixings. BTW, my brother is in El Paso, Texas and gets his fresh lobster delivered from Legals Seafood in Boston.
You were correct about Spragues and Reds Eats. Reds was definitely good, 1.5 hour wait hmmmm. Spragues was as good, maybe a 1/2 hour wait and loved the space they have and the whole family was working there. Nice scenery and space at Spragues. I give Spragues the two thumbs up!
Thanks for watching! You just put a new taste on my list of experiences that we must try! We've had gator stew at Myakka State Park but a roll sounds delicious.
Thanks for the tips for places offering good lobster rolls! Will definitely put Spragues and Fisherman’s Catch in Raymond on the list for the next trip. I totally agree that Two Lights has amazing views and good food too. During my last 2 trips to Maine, hands down the best Lobster Dinner I’ve had was at the same place both times. It was in the town of Lubec at Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant (at the Inn on the Wharf). Thanks for the recommendations and a trip down memory lane of past trips to Maine. Safe travels!
Thanks for watching! We will be going back to Raymond next year because they had a "sweet" roll which included a splash of pickle relish. Not traditional but it intrigues me. We'll keep the Lubec recommendation in mind.
@@LuvSubbin Have you ever been to Lubec before? If not, I recommend waiting until the Canadian borders open so you can also take the bridge over to Campobello Island and see the International Park there with FDR’s summer home (well, they call it a “cottage” despite having 30+ rooms) and explore the nature trails and 2 lighthouses on the island. The sweet roll with relish sounds intriguing. I’ve never heard of that combo before. You’ll have to video that experience for us. 😆
McLoons was our absolute favorite lobster roll! Well worth the detour to the scenic and idyllic lobster shack. Beals Lobster Pier in Southwest Harbor was excellent as well! I had the garlic lobster roll and hubby had a spicy version! Already planning out trip back to Maine!
Just came home from Maine a couple weeks ago and from Old Orchard Beach area to Bar Harbor and towns in between me and my wife had more than a few lobster rolls and every one was well over 30 dollars. When i seen the prices you posted of your L rolls at just over 20 dollars i then realized this video was posted 3 years ago. Thats a 33% increase… approximately in lobster rolls in 3 years. We thought the Highroller Lobster Company in Portland Maine was the best we tried but it was over 35 dollars.
Thanks for watching! Lobster prices do fluctuate and unlike most things, will go up and go down (instead of just going up). We had some rolls recently in the $26 range... We'll keep the Highroller Lobster Company in mind so thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for watching! We keep a spreadsheet of all the interesting places we get from comments or watching other UA-cam video. We'll put JJ Hook on that list for the next time we're in Boston.
Thanks for watching! She got her visor at Myakka Lake State Park in Florida. It's a Vizor. It's waterproof and you can add some decorations. Pretty cool...
Sorry I didn't answer this... We had a huge storm last night (it might be the subject of a Friday Luv Subbin short) and lost power for about 4 hours. I'm glad you got them and have fun later in the month!
I eat lobster rolls from all over. Best must be what you are use too. Maine has good lobster rolls. Ct style lobster rolls are real good even though I got them in Rhode Island but South Shore Mass are what im use to and IMO ,they are the best. Green Harbor Lpbster Pound. Lobster Express and Cohasset Pizza house /when available during summer Cohasset sells out fast.
Thanks for watching! It is so fun to taste all the regional differences. We keep a spreadsheet of all the interesting places we want to visit and have added yours from the South Shore...
Thanks for watching and the insight! I tell you what - there was a clear difference between Reds and Sprague's, especially seeing that we saw actual lobsters being boiled/steamed at Sprague's...
Having left Maine after spending July in Bar Harbor, I believe Lobster Rolls are the most overrated regional delicacy I’ve ever eaten. It’s basically a tuna fish sandwich with lobster substituted.
Thanks for watching! In many ways, I won't entirely disagree with you. Most lobster rolls are just shelled lobster on a bun. When places try and do something different, people rebel. Of well..
Thanks for watching! We agree - dumb. But at the time it is was a requirement if you wanted to stand in line. We try to follow the rules and wanted to provide the review 😀
Lobster Stew is our favorite! We are planning a trip to Maine next summer. Can’t wait. Great job on the video!
Thanks for watching! Maine is a great place to take your RV. Maybe we'll pass each other next year as we want to hit Moab and Arches...

@@LuvSubbin Burlington yes Portland Oregon...no way. Wont go there now if ya paid me.
@@bluestarindustrialarts7712 Good call. We won't be going there any time soon regardless of the beer...
OMG killing me, need a road trip to Maine!
Thanks for watching! Yes, Maine is one of the great places for a roadtrip.
Great! Can't wait to give Sprague's a try next trip. Great idea to go back and test Sprague's!
Thanks Doug. The other plus (aside from not waiting over an hour) is that the seating is set a little bit more off the road so it is quieter.
I made your roll at firshermans catch!!
REALLY?? Well in our opinion you had the distinction of making the best roll in Maine. We will be back next year because I want to try the one with relish. Thanks for watching.

Reds is the best

Thanks for watching! We're convinced that the lobsters at Sprague's are simply fresher. As you say, both are great but why wait for so long?
Never had a lobster roll but it looks pretty good! Not so sure they could beat a “Gator Roll” from south Florida! 🤙
Thanks for watching! You just put a new taste on my list of experiences that we must try! We've had gator stew at Myakka State Park but a roll sounds delicious.

Nothing wrong with spragues
Wrong, but there's no accountin' for taste!... 'specially in Maine.
Thanks for watching! I would be interested in your suggestion if mine is wrong. I'd love to try it later this year.
CT has the best
Thanks for watching! No doubt CT has some great places but I'm still not sure you can beat the complete package of Downeast Maine...
Reds uses frozen Lobster meat.

Was it frozen when you ate it
@4:14 It's pronounced skaul ups, you don't wanna sound like a flatlander.
Thanks for watching and point taken. Next time we hit the coast no one will mistake us for a flatlander...

Right amount of meat? For Lobster? No such thing. Pile it on….
