  • This video shows one of the locations from my book, "I, Natalya." It shows the drainpipe at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, California and the surfing shack built there in 1946 by the surfers returning from World War 2. In my story, when the missiles blow up Naval Air Station North Island and Marine Air Station Miramar, this is where 17 year old Natalya and 20 year old Jack run into the drain pipe and discover a bomb shelter. They live there for two weeks and finally come out to view the desolation and destruction of La Jolla and San Diego. They meet the scant survivors, some strong and some weak, some good and some evil--but all hungry and most desperate to live. A 25 year old veterinarian passing herself off as an MD covets Jack and ends up almost killing Natalya, who ends up on a raft in the Pacific Ocean escorted by Dolphins to her grandfather's casa in Isla Natividad in Baja California. Nat spends two years in Mexico, growing in stature, strength, and wisdom; and then she travels by land back to La Jolla and . . . -- read my book.
