    Hollywood's dancers will last longer than actors, singers or comics in the affection and admiration of audiences worldwide. The movement of a human body is the most enduring and universal source of pleasure in films, and Fred made a dance of every step he took on screen.
    Add his incomparable way with a song, his light comedy acting technique and the image of unassuming, aristocratic virility he projected and you have a perfect representative of all America could have been.
    The beer salesman's son from Nebraska is a lost exemplar of elegance, modesty, dedication and the desire to make us feel better about the world. I believe he will come to be considered the greatest of all movie stars.

      Esmee, beautifully put - I couldn't agree with you more. As Joseph Epstein said in his book about him, Fred Astaire was one of only a handful of performers who could make people happy.

    I knew Pan later in life who introduced to Ava and her husband. They were gracious and warm. I wanted to use a song of Fred in a musical review; speaking Fred over the phone he decided to sing to me; it was a thrill.

      Loved Fred and Ginger and but also loved Fred and Cyd together..especially since I believe their sharp-elegant dance style was more simpatico.

    Amo os musicais da Broadway! Excelentes atores e atrizes! Mas, como espectadora, creio que ninguém, entre os melhores (e a lista é grande!) , encontra-se FRED ASTAIRE ! Elegante, simpático, charmoso e , meu Deus!, a leveza dos seus passos! Ele não dança, ele voa! Como eu gostaria de ser sua partner! Gratidão, UA-cam, por trazer de volta nossos inesquecíveis astros e estrelas! 04/7/22, Vera Lucia Malta, RJ, Brasil! 💖🎁🌹💚💛🙌🙆💚💛🙇🙏💚💛❤🎁🌻🌷

    Fascinating hearing how difficult it is for her to see her dad on film. I would guess maybe something to do with not seeing him much when he was working as a child. She seems pretty stoic, like her father

    • @BabyFaceBren
      @BabyFaceBren  3 роки тому +12

      Maybe it just makes her sad because she misses him. I find it too emotional sometimes, looking at photos of lost family members

      It would seem Fred's children lived a protected shelteted life as youngsters. Is it possible that seeing this other side of him on film...romancing and dancing the night away with an array of beautiful actresses...is sort of incongruous with the Dad they knew.
      Ava mentioned other children of actors...
      Maria Cooper for instance...who also found watching her Dad's movies difficult.

      PS: I saw the interview with Ava and she specifically mentions how she has to prepare herself before viewing one of her Dad's films. She never mentioned that this was since his death.

    I'm sort of fascinated by how she talks. Her pronunciation of the word "dancing," for example, sounds very mid-Atlantic, like she took on her father's movie-star elocution training. Very few Americans actually say "dancing" that way or pronounce their words in such a clipped way...although I guess maybe she lives in Ireland now, so maybe that's why.

    • @BabyFaceBren
      @BabyFaceBren  2 роки тому +4

      Like every child who ever existed, she probably picked up the vocal mannerisms of her parents and as her father was the parent whom I imagine said "dancing" the most, she says it how he said it.

    • @ellenchevarie8517

      I think it is because she misses him as she said if she were to watch him she has to prepare herself which to me says so I don't get all sad which is normal when you've list someone even years later.when she sees him unexpectedly while turning channels it hits her heart

      If you read his autobiography, you'll get the exciting delivery stories and know they're his kids. And, he often said of his family life, he felt like the luckiest guy alive.
