  • Install the 250lb front springs on the mini, it was 10” to the bottom of front diff and 26 5/8“ to the wheel arch. After the 250 lb springs were installed it was 10 5/8” to the bottom of front diff and 27 ½“ to the wheel arch so a 5/8” to 3/4” lift.
    **YES, THE STRUTS ARE WARN, ORDERED NEW**
    Had a friend who is 6'4” sit in the mini to show how much room is in there with a tall person. Plenty of head room, not much leg room.
    I also finally test the LED's at night, needs another light bar!

    Hijet Climber Mini-truck, this one is a 1992, 7th Gen, S83P, 660cc Minitruck. The “climber” means it has rear axle lock. Amir has about 60 units in stock, he was very helpful.
    States legal www.iihs.org/i...
    Researching online I did find l lot of information, but Amir explains a LOT more than I knew, he has been in the business for 15 years. Plus if Bubbles in Trailer Park Boys has one, it HAS to be cool!
    Don't forget you're buying a used vehicle, check it all out, they're over 25 years old! Some are in much better shape than others. Check for leaks, CV boots ripped, Loose suspension, Clutch slippage, clunks etc. Just like any used vehicle
    S83p specs:
    660cc 4 vavle 3 cyl engine 48-53hp carburated
    weight: 1500 lbs
    length 10'8" (128"). width 4'6" (54") w/o mirrors. Height 5'10" (70")
    Load capacity 800 lbs
    Max Speed 55-60mph
    I purchased mine at Boeki USA, www.boekiusa.com has their updated inventory. Ask for Amir and tell them MOTOCHEEZ sent you! They also have a west coast shop!
    I know there may be other videos of this.. but this is my Cheezy style!
    More info (Wikipedia):
    The Daihatsu Hijet (Japanese: ダイハツハイゼット) is a cabover microvan and pickup truck produced and sold by the Japanese automaker Daihatsu since 1960. Despite the similarities between the Hijet name and Toyota's naming scheme for its trucks and vans (Hiace and Hilux), the name "Hijet" has been in use for Daihatsu's Kei trucks and Microvans since 1960, over two decades before Toyota took control. "Hijet", when transliterated into Japanese, is very similar to "Midget", one of Daihatsu's other mini-trucks. The Hijet competes in Japan with the Honda Acty, Subaru Sambar, Mitsubishi Minicab, Suzuki Carry and the Nissan Clipper.

    G'Day, it may be time to step away from the mini truck. In Australia we had a TV show about Ted Bullpit who owned a GM Holden Kingswood that had so many accessories on it, that it could not go up a hill. His catch cry was, when anyone wanted to touch the Kingswood, he who say something like, "you can't take the Kingswood, I just shampooed the grease nipples". I love your vids, keep it up and do not worry, you have many more vids before you are Ted Bullpit.

    Love those trucks. If you put larger wheels and tires, you may need to go with bigger brakes...maybe. We have a Honda truck 4dr 4wd with full sides. We lifted it, put bigger wheels/tires/brakes/brakes hoses/suspension. Ours is gas 4cyl with a turbo w a/c and heat. The truck can go 72mph. Handles nice. Cooper 15in all terrain tires and 5stud stock look alum wls. Bigger exhaust. We keep this at our house in Ecuador. We have a bigger battery and amp up alternator. Brush guard and extra lighting. Our plan is to move there. I have been collecting vw cars and vans/trucks down there. Got quite a few of them. Good luck. These trucks are fun. Oh by the way, I know the tires you have on now are great for off rd, not black top. Do 55mph when wet and try to stop. All terrain is what's needed.

    • @tjroelsma
      @tjroelsma 5 років тому +1

      True, but you could put some big holes in that aluminum plate too, like they do on the quads.
      That would save some weight but keep the extra rigidity of the aluminum.

  • @jamest.5001
    @jamest.5001 5 років тому

    That would look cool with 15" rims and 195-50-15" tires! They would probably fit, i think they are about 20" tall. Probably less. So 16" would probably fit with 205-40-16",, I wonder if I could basically put one of these on a Toyota or Nissan frame from 80' or 90'truck and title it as a rebody? The tires will be a bit wider I'd say. I don't know they gotta be a way to get one leagal here.. Maybe narrow the Axels in the truck frame. It just build something similar with a isuzu cabover truck, on a Toyota or s10 frame... Crazy ideas I know!!

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому

      I like the way you think! I did find some 14" rims with the 4x110mm patern the frame off swap does seem possible. move the driveline on the Toyota and fit the mini to the frame.. would be a good project! Would have to be high on the frame to fit motor, this 3 cylinder motor is almost layed flat.

    • @jamest.5001
      @jamest.5001 5 років тому +1

      MotoCheez , since everything is apart anyway, maybe a Subaru engine adapted to the Toyota trans, and move it Bach so it will be under the seat! Or maybe just build a little truck similar with the Isuzu cabover truck cabs , it wouldn't be as small. It reminds me of the 4x4 trucks on one of the fastand furious movies! A truck that's 95% bed!

    Got my 2" lift and new tires on, adjusted camber, etc and now the poor thing hops down the road like a Bunny Wabbit. Not like just when I hit a bump, it's consistently hopping starting at around 25 kph. New 300# springs on the way but it doesn't seam it will help as I didn't feel the hop on the lift, only once I put on the tires. Any ideas?

      Thanks. I live in CT too and have wanted a mini truck, but I was certain DMV here wouldn't register these. Do you know if there's a trick or something required to get DMV to register a mini truck? Like it has to be a "Farm" plate or something done on the title or registration form?

    • @MotoCheez
      @MotoCheez  5 років тому +1

      The minis come with import information from Japan, you have to bring to the inspection station and they'll go over the truck, so lights, brakes, E brake all has to work, also the tires have to pass, no dry rot. I am in contact with a few.other CT mini owners, one guy has a Instagram group chat. So if you get one, join us!
