Absolutely, I have a set of chains that will fit. And that's why I was thinking if I went with a semi-aggressive Street Tire I could just put chains on when the weather is bad
Good to see the Mini truck! Instead of the heavy bumper out of 2" steel that you have to lug and ressel with, I'v seen a lot of the snow plow/ landscapers in my area put full fuel tanks on the back of there trucks just for the weight. I'll bet you could weld up an aluminum tank with a hitch and use it with fuel or water. look forward to seeing what you do?
Attack of some sort on the back would be a good idea, I don't know if I'd want to put gasoline in it and this time of year water's going to freeze I don't know maybe a toolbox. It's something that wouldn't be on it all the time only if I get off road.
There's tanks for extra weight that people put antifreeze or washer fluid in. I'd rather use cender blocks anchored down vs a liquid that will slosh around. 5 blocks works just fine for my s10.
That's why I was thinking if I made a nice solid steel bumper that is not only functional to protect the back while I'm off roading but also give me the ballast way out at the end of the truck it would help. Of course Id have my kids put it on cuz it's probably going to weigh 300 lb haha
Been following since the start- really helping to influence my decision to buy one! Stopping by Boeki in late March. I use a hitch-mount cargo carrier adapted to hold a truck box for extra weight in the rear of my 02 Tundra. I fill that thing with sand, might help in the short run instead of fabricating a bumper. Comes in handy if you want to haul fuel cans, chainsaws separate of the load in the bed too.

Ty, I was actually looking for ammo box for a tool box under the bed yesterday at an army surplus store. And yes I do want to bedline it it's going to have to wait till warmer weather I don't want to stick my house up and it's way too cold outside
My 547 cc EB engine actually came with this same distributor. But I have a unicorn somewhat. They stopped making the EB engine for the JDM in 1989 or 1990. They were able to move up to the 660 cc EF engine for the JDM, so a 1991 Hijet should come with this engine and they started using electronic or transistor ignition on it. The EB engine should have points. Anyway, Daihatsu broke into the American market by using the HiJet virtually unmodified except for steering wheel on the left. American Hijets have mph and miles on the odometer, tires probably not DOT, utility (offroad) rated, and speed limiters. They started in the late 80s. They are classified as Type G Industrial Truck (outdoor use, general cargo) So I have a 1991-made S80LP-JTRK (notice the "L"). The S80 is an EB engine, while an S82 or S83 should have the EF engine like yours. But since my truck was made while the JDM got the EF and electronic ignition, my S80LP has the old engine and the new distributor, or at least it is a very similar design. So it is good to double check everything in your truck. I assumed mine had points like all of the right-hand-drive S80s ... but it did not. There are different color and types of caps for these, also. A number of other parts are similar between mine and the EF-powered S82 / S83 Hijets with the obvious exception of the smaller engine on mine.

Yeah, it worked pretty good. The truck was a 1979 F250 with a 460cid. The bed was just the standard Ford bed and when the streets were wet (common in Louisiana) it would spin when leaving red lights. We pulled the rear bumper and bolted in 4x4 square stock steel all the way across it. It made quite a bit of difference and the truck got 5MPG empty or loaded, so the added weight wasn't an issue.
I have another 5000 lb winch, maybe I should make a little steel bumper with a winch that goes in the hitch to take that would make it number 1 more weight number 2 the protective rear bumper and number 3 a winch for the rear!!!
Hell yeah, I've made many steel to bumper's myself through the years. I already have a 2in receiver hitch mount with a winch on it I just have to modify something
I caught a guy gassing a lil mini truck up and I held him up talking about it 15 minutes, he took me on a lil ride, if my wife would have let me, I’d have got one that day, absolutely love those lil trucks!!!
In order to put a 4in lift you have to drop the driveline and front differential 2 in, I kind of like the height it's at now because it's not Overkill and not much more top-heavy than stock with the wider tires. Not to mention I probably won't fit in my garage if I go another two inches lol
I run both regular and premium in mine , depends on what I’m feeling like . The trucks with a catalytic converters have the exhaust light which is just a thermal fuse post cat and turns on when the cat gets too hot and melts the fuse so the light will stay on . Can also happen when it’s running poorly and unturned fuel ends up in the exhaust.
If the cat didn’t melt down you can replace the sensor or jump the wire to ground , if the cat did melt down you remove the lump from it and then ground out the wire
Hey, cool truck. A crazy idea for your problem, try using mini cooper wheels but you need wheel adapters to do the conversion. I believe they use 13 inch wheels and run performance tires for street use.
What I really want for tires are a mud terrain, I don't mind a little noise. But yes they do make adapters oh, I have to find 23" mud tires and then get those rims
@@MotoCheez Hmmmmm... there's always 'Shiroko" (Japanese --- shiro = white; 'ko' = a suffix used to feminize a word / name | example: Shiro - male / Shiroko - female)
I didn't, but I actually thought about taking a speedometer apart and I have a vinyl machine and make the mile per hour overlay on top of that one, like a sticker in vinyl. It's one of my things to do list
I think you will get more looks and conversations started with the mini truck than a new Hellcat LOL The bumper idea is not bad, but wrestling that thing into the receiver hitch could get old fast. When I had a Mini Truck before my micro van in the winter I had two big bags of sand in the back, good for weight and traction if you needed it. I get 11Km to the liter (25.8 MPG) consistently here in Tokyo. My micro van is newer, 2008 and only 2WD and I'm driving on regular roads, yes congested but still, it should be higher compared to the driving you do. My mileage can go down a LOT if I get on the expressways and don't just chill at 80Km/h (50mph) If I go 100 Km/h (60 mph) or faster that little 660cc motor has to work so hard, even with a 5 speed and no 4WD, the mileage drops fast! But I still love my micro van! Cheers from Tokyo!
Yes, it does get more.looks! I know the mileage 4 fuel is horrible because 90% of the time I drove it it was in low range and idling. that's why this tank I'm going to try to do a little more road riding just to get an idea poor people watching my videos

Thanks for the info. Is it worth removing the cat? I haven't looked into power adds yet, I think I saw bigger carb etc
No reason to remove it unless it’s rotted out or shot internally. I’ve not seen any benefits
You were scraping off the oxidation and I was thinking "watch, it won't run now."
I was thinking the same thing brother!
@@MotoCheez did u try looking at B F Goodrich tire website?.
For the 12" rims I have, there's nothing. I haven't in 15s yet
@@MotoCheez try this guys Four Sons Off Road. I hope this helps you my friend.

I watched a bunch of his stuff before I bought mine
weight behind the axle is swing weight usually induces oversteer. get something over the axle
love the truck!
Thanks!, I think you're right about that swing. Never thought about that.
Meep meep. Lol. 4 mpg huh? Think you better lighten up Leadfoot Louie.
I know! Knew it was going to be bad, 90% off-road in low range.
I laughed so hard when she said my ass is vibrating
😄😄😄😄
hahahahahahahahah, I love the ending that's great,
😄😄👍👍
gonna have to upgrade those headlights.
Yes. Very soon!
I gotta name for your mini truck.... kirby, the climbing mini truck. Cuz it's definitely got personality and pizzazz.
I thought about giving mini truck a name but then I just thought maybe mini is her name. Haha
@@MotoCheez okiedokie... just please no big lips on her. Just a silly smile
Absolutely
@@MotoCheez Hmmmmm... there's always 'Shiroko" (Japanese --- shiro = white; 'ko' = a suffix used to feminize a word / name | example: Shiro - male / Shiroko - female)
@@ironwolfF1 That name has problems. Kanji will have different meanings.

I know a girl who recently made a similar failure.
Sweet
😄👍👍
Whats up mini truck!
Whooa ohh ohhh!
@@MotoCheez woah, a good UA-camr who actually replies, thank you for your amazing series and videos :D
No, thank you!! 😁😁
Did you put another speedometer in miles an hour? If you can you do a video about it
I didn't, but I actually thought about taking a speedometer apart and I have a vinyl machine and make the mile per hour overlay on top of that one, like a sticker in vinyl. It's one of my things to do list
Cool
what the heck yall in the states got music at your gas stations?! thats such a good idea!
Yeah, some have small LCD monitors with adds n stuff too
I think you will get more looks and conversations started with the mini truck than a new Hellcat LOL
The bumper idea is not bad, but wrestling that thing into the receiver hitch could get old fast.
The bumper weight is a great idea!
TY! I figured it'd be functional and more ways than one
bahaha " who you taking too?" got to get a plat with the " Mistress"
Mini truck almost took that dudes girl in the big truck. hahaahaha.
Haha. Good idea
