I thought the car was black but apparently it's that dark green that was available that year. My aunt had a 1966 Oldsmobile 98 4 door pillored sedan, burgundy with a beige vinyl top and burgundy interior. What a beauty it was. She stopped by after she picked it up at the dealership ( fall 1965). She always bought her new cars in September or October of the new model year. Her next new 98 was the 1969 model, same 4 door Luxury Sedan only gold with a black vinyl top and black brocade interior. Then a 1973 98 Recency. Obviously they left a huge imprint on my memory. She was my favorite aunt.

Allen Wayne: Allen, Absolutely agree with you about the dice, etc. WAY to much kitsch for a really super nice, loaded-out Olds Ninety Eight. I still really dislike the whitewalls on this car, not only because they are not correct whitewall for it, but they are like early-mid 50s whitewall width. The owner of this beautiful Olds should contact the folks at Coker Tire, and they will hook him up with the correct whitewall width, and you can even get them in a nice steel belted radial. They ship fast too! Nice car!

This stunning motorcar appears to have every available factory option for 1966. The only thing I did not see was an optional 8-track Player, that Olds hung under the dash with the (same color) piece of dash trim to house it (sort of an after-thought). Guess not enough of this option specified on dealer order sheets, to build it in *yet*). I imagine it has “Pos-itraction” anti-slip differential as well. Have seen very very few Ninety Eights with factory Reverberation and/or factory Cruise Control this early. (People were afraid of Cruise Control when it first came out in the late ‘50’s and thought it ‘dangerous”).
Wonder if Oldsmobile/Ninety Eights we’re still offering the “bullet-style” Autronic Eye to automatically dim the bright headlamps from approaching cars, in “66? Very sharp car, pretty similar to a ‘69 model I bought in 1973. Wish I still had it..

Great video. I love all the close-ups of the dashboard controls, doors, etc. It's unusual to see them in such detail! My family had a '68 Ninety-Eight when I was a kid. Brings back memories.

A beautiful, fully loaded car. See it has PA plates. It's a shame you won't see it at Hershey, nor would it win an award for the modifications and horrible wheel covers and wide white wall tires.

"REVERBERATION" an option only offered on Pontiac and Oldsmobile (afaik) that, when turned on, gave an echo effect on the radio speakers. Short lived in mid-60s. Motorola had an aftermarket unit they called Vibrasonic. Gave same/similar effect as GM's. See Vibrasonic demo here... ua-cam.com/video/GbONJbwtmXI/v-deo.html

Phonejag1 Thank you. I know it as reverb. Didn’t realize it was short for reverberation. Also, I thought the first letter was a B on the switch.
