#mailbag What's better for monitoring Audio Post or Prefader? And i have a historical Question. I saw some old tap dance movies some time ago. While my wife was enjoying the movie, I was wondering if the step sounds were recorded on the set or if a foly artist did the dubbing. What would you say?

Today also failed at my field by using those system.... BPTRX and Duo RX wireless signals are so unstable. There is So many signal drops... (I have been tryed RF Power 10w~100w & auto and which I can do everything for changing wireless circumstances. )And I also use sony uwp d21. But sony is very stable.
And today I recorded dialogue with BP TRX as a back up recorder. But it freezed againg...... I can't use deity system anymore. I CAN NOT TRUST THIS SYSTEM.

Fyi, for those of you who think it's a joke... WA5VJB will be an amateur radio callsign. Which would be fitting for someone selling home made antennas.

Correct but they arent home made. WA5VJB designs antennas for mega corporate clients too like MLB baseball.

    Great tip there!
However, I have to comment on your choice to use your b-camera in the way you do. In my eyes, it adds absolutely nothing. Seeing you talk to us viewers in the a-camera when the b-camera is active is just wrong. Gives the appearance that you are looking into the wrong camera. Use a b-camera for close-ups of equipment etc.

That's so cool! WA5VJB company name is also the amateur (ham) radio callsign of the company's RF Engineer who created such specialty antennas. I'll have to keep an ear out for him on the ham radio bands, maybe make contact with him someday :-) VE7NB is my callsign, but sadly, I don't own a company, haha... but I am getting into film making and very much enjoy your videos. I bought the D3 Pro mic as my first purchase. I do have a question though... I noticed in this video you have a mic with the cover on a mic stand. In another video the mic cover has been removed and you have a screen of sorts about a few inches in front off the mic. Does the latter configuration make an improvement, and if so, where did you source it? I'm thinking of using a similar set-up for my voiceovers. Thanks, from Vancouver, BC!

Bought a Rybozen karaoke mixer. Its in a side room with the home theater equipment. User guide says 100 ft of mic range with straight signal but the side room limits that greatly. How do i attach an antenna to the mic or the mixer to increase that range? Its a UHF mic. Thank you in advance :)

Hey all. I just watched their sound cart breakdown from a little over a year ago. It got me thinking about how I should go about building up my own private sound cart for professional use and on film shoots with friends. Almost everyone I know has low-mid grade “professional” camera gear, but none of use has pro sound gear. Being the only one in my group that genuinely enjoys on set sound work, I want to start purchasing my own gear that would match our camera and lighting quality, in addition to things that prep me for professional work. I like everything they show on the video, it’s well organized, high quality gear, and exactly what I’m looking for. Now I know the gear they showed in that video may be out dated and too expensive for my needs, so I’m not looking for a list to copy. What I am looking for is a list of gear I should buy (not specific brands or models) that matches what they show. This way I can decide what is required of my needs, what order to buy them in, and (most importantly) what’s in my price range. This is a huge ask for anyone to do, so I’m immensely thankful for any advice! (Sorry that this is such a long comment).

Does an antenna on the receiver really make a big difference? I don't understand how handheld mics with tiny receivers work so flawlessly yet small transmitters and receivers like rode wireless go and synco cut out with the slightest intrusion of "line of sight".

I don't think it's related to transmitting and receiving, but we have two Deity Connect systems at work and we never use them because the noise floor is so high. We've tried setting them with the recommended gain settings and every other combination, but the noise floor is just way too high to be useable. Is there something we're missing?

Some cool ideas! Also I agree that WA5VJB company is going to be the next huge player in audio tech. The name alone just rolls off the tongue. One question though about ankle straps. The technical benefits make sense but it would seem the logistics of snaking a wire from the sternum to the ankle make for a lot more challenges and possible interference if the talent is moving and not stationary. Thoughts?

    • @DeityMicrophones
      @DeityMicrophones  3 роки тому

You will want to add some cable strain relief just a few inches below the lavalier head. This will keep cable noise from traveling into the lav.

    Great video!
I would like to learn how to prevent all mic rustle hiding the lav mid chest.
The W Lav micro has almost no rustle, but the Pro has a ton.
I’ve tried everything! Medical tape to the shirt, medical tape to the chest.
    I’ve used moleskin…
I’ve made the sticky triangles with gaff tape and stuck the mic between them.
    Nothing works for mid chest.
Please help as I’ve had so many takes ruined and I hate having mics sticking out of the shirt with a clip.
    Thanks!

#mailbag Love the Deity Connect - Using it to record dialogue through mini xlr and BMPCC 4k - I'm getting wonderful signal to noise ratio BUT editing out the ambient room noise is driving me crazy in post. So here's my dumb question: What constitutes "background silence" in terms of db? Right now I've got it down tot -80db but it's still bugging me... And of course, too much denoising in processing ends up with the dialogue sounding like scuba divers... Expressed slightly differently: At what point can I safely tell my OCD that this is good enough?

Great video! I’ve been a professional DJ for over 25 yrs. I’ve used Gemini mics my entire career and I am known for having one of the best voices in market. My handhelds are great but lapel mics are hit and miss. When we need lapels for like a wedding ceremony I mount the receiver on top of my speaker for a clear line of sight to to the lapel transmitter. I’m on the highest channels on my dual receiver. Is there anything else I can do to prevent signal loss?

I get a lot of Hess and background noise when using my wireless mics.
It doesn’t matter if I use it together with my GH5 or my Tascam DR60 II.
Especially when I have normalized my audio and edit I get a lot of noise.
I remove the noise with Audition, but it is not that great I still hear those “water” blobs, like too much reduction was used.
Do you have a video or do you know why my wireless audio gets so much noise and how I can avoid it?

I have tried into my GH5 and into the Tascam DR60 II. When I tried to use internal recording in the Lensgo, I didn’t hear the same amount of noise.
