that's the big plot twist they made us believe that Jay would have the throne, savagely catching bodies left and right all while nuck was being looked at as weak. in my opinion nuck was on a path to character development however douda beating him up brought out something sadistic we've never fully seen or we've became blinded not to expect from him

Nuck wanted him to keep paying him from his and Tiff’s business. Rob thought that since Douda was dead he didn’t need to pay anymore. Plus it sent a message to Alicia that he was the Big Dog in Chicago now.
