    I purchased a Target model, then went to Hogue's website and purchased Cocobolo checkered standard grips. Pistol now looks just like the standard, but with target sights and front slide serrations. Still just as shootable, but a little more carry-able.

    I had the chance to handle one of these recently because one was put on consignment at the shop I work at. I’m not an Sig fan but if this shoots as good as it feels I’m sure it’s incredible. Great ergos, excellent triggers, very nice sights and amazing build quality the slide is the most buttery smooth that I can ever remember racking. Would love to try one out at the range

    I disagree - have the 210A Standard in my stable and it's my favorite. Since when did nine rounds not become suitable for a home defense gun - tell that to all the people that have a revolver in the nightstand drawer. According to statistics only two rounds are fired in a self defense encounter. If you need 15 rounds plus, I suggest you spend more time at the range.

    • @sergejizotov2407
      @sergejizotov2407 4 роки тому +21

      Not quite. SIG developed two versions of the gun. The single stack 44/8 and the double stack 44/16.
      The Swiss Armed Forces demanded a capacity of at least 8 rounds, preferably more. However, due to the lack of communication between the Army and SIG, the company couldn't rely on the 44/16 being selected as the next service weapon, so SIG started to look for other buyers. SIG proceeded to apply to the Swedish Military, and they preferred the single stack 44/8 over the double stack 44/16 and thus, SIG dropped the double stack version and proceeded to develop the single stack version into the 47/8-Model. However, Sweden didn't adopt the 47/8 in the end anyway.
      When the Swiss Army, still preferring the double stack version, finally came around a couple of years later (around '48), SIG no longer had any double stack versions to ready to submit and because the 47/8 still fulfilled the minimum requirement of 8 rounds, the Army cut their losses and adopted the 47/8 as the Pistole 49. And from there, any other P210 variant was derived.
      In short: The Swiss wanted a double stack, but were not decisive enough. Sweden wanted a single stack and that's what we got.

      @mrfrosty3 4 роки тому

      Yes, it seems like such an odd decision not to select the double stack. I think Ian on Forgotten Weapons said the trial was carried out by a gun club at the time and they preferred the slimmer grip. A carry model with double stack would be great but they are sticking to original capacity for that too.

    Too funny, what timing sir! I spent 2 hours on the range with one of these today. Came in tonight to watch a couple videos and here was this video! I drove this on a dueling tree at 45 feet with 6 inch plates. This was my first time out with it and it ran very well, accuracy is awesome and speed is excellent due to bore axis and weight. Home run on this updated model!!!!! I'm old enough to struggle with any sights that don't use a brass bead or light pipe. Regardless, this damn thing was delivering the vast majority of the rounds to center mass on those plates but I agree with your analysis, I would prefer a brass bead front sight. What a nice piece of equipment. Thanks for what you do on this channel, I enjoy the way you present!

    Ian from the Forgotten Weapons website and UA-cam channel actually has a video on a double stack 210. It was a prototype designed along with the single stack version and the reason it wasn't produced was because the original buyers wanted a target pistol more than a combat pistol. So when the single stack version went into production, that was what the company marketed to various militaries instead.

When I worked for Sig as an instructor/armorer, plus my shop/range was the Canadian national distributor back in the early and mid 2000s, I got the opportunity to buy a new one plus a used military/LE trade back from the factory in Europe. My used one I've put about 4k or so through, not a ton, but enough, and the thing shoots darts. SO accurate, benchrest at 25m and even 50m are hilariously accurate. Great little range Pew Pew, obviously not the best field weapon, but it'd do in a pinch I guess. Both of mine are the target model, I've never used this model with those sights - good luck finding a mount/new sights, be real interested to see your results with a small MOA red dot. Pew Pew!!

    There are advantages to distinguishing between accuracy and precision, because errors in each have different remedies. Precision is the size of a group independent of the location of the group relative to the target. Conversely, accuracy is the location of a shot group relative to the target independent of the size of the group. The remedy for accuracy error is usually adjusting the sights, or adjusting grip or point of aim if the sights are not adjustable. The size of a group shot from a machine rest defines the precision of a pistol, and the size of a group shot offhand is the combination of the precision error of the pistol and the precision error of the shooter. Therefore the remedies for precision error include a more precise gun, but more likely improved shooting skill because the shooter’s contribution to group size is usually much greater, >10x, than the precision error of the gun. You can distinguish finer differences in pistol precision than most because your personal precision error is so small.

    As I said in your other P210 video which I miss took for this video I meant to put in this video is; maybe you can use 1911 9mm mags on that if they’re interchangeable to the P210’s mags, though it sounds like it could possible due to how close to the 1911 design it follows? Though I could be wrong due to the holding design in the pistol or the mags themselves which sounds to me.... that they need to make these 1911 9mm compatible so you can save money and find mags easier, like they do with some pistols being Glock Mag compatible with some pistols or carbines to help the aftermarket value of the pistol.

    As always I love hearing you're input and opinion on this one, but I have to respectfully disagree with you that this specific model doesn't really have a home. A few things, for one the sights are replaceable and actually the same size dovetails as the other Sig P series so they could easily be swapped out for some Xrays or such. #8 in the back and a #6 up front.
    Secondly 8 rounds of some good current production federal HST 9mm or similar is definitely lethal enough, and especially if you're able to place it very well. The weight isn't anything you wouldn't expect from an all steel frame pistol and carries just as well as any 1911 or similar.
    The craftsmanship and fit and finish quality on this P210A to me is so damn good and actually such a refreshing change from the normal offerings we usually see. This is a "Match" quality firearm for a very reasonable price in my opinion. You can even buy the target grips from Sig if you like and swap them out when you want. However there is absolutely no reason this couldn't be a stellar carry piece if someone wanted to do so. The safety is nice and positive to. Yes the trigger is very light for a carry piece but I've seen many that carry a 1911 with the same poundage trigger that do so without any issues or concerns. It's all in the training.
    Thanks for the awesome video!!

    Your criticisms of this particular model of the P210 are well-founded. The adjustable sights and the highly stylized grips on the Target model are genuinely helpful, I personally just wish they would come out with the 6 inch barreled "Super Target" model, though I'm quite happy with my Target model. Strangely, even the Carry model of the P210 doesn't have the larger capacity, so WTH, Sig? Good, solid review. Thanks.

    Hey first time handgun buyer here. I just had a question I'm looking at either a gen5 glock 19 or a beretta 92fs. Is there any other better guns for a first time buyer? Love the videos by the way man

    Owning this exact model p210, I will say that it doesn’t do many things well... but look awesome! There are G10 grips out there. SIG may make night sights due to the “carry version” (if not already can swap from other model and in stock).
    I shot one at my local PSA store during “SIG days” where a rep came out with all of the cool new models. Picking up a firearm and being instantly accurate, and the gun feeling amazing with every shot... made me buy this!
    BUT, I do plan on keeping this firearm. So, I will buy the leather holster SIG offers, night sights, remove the nitron coating on the slide, and install G10 grips.
    Cool looking gun that shoots great, I can overlook the capacity with more magazines (already bought two extra)

    Carry gun? Heck ya!
    As Clint Smith once mentioned it's not necessarily comfortable to carry but rather...comforting...

    Haha... the Honest Outlaw wants to turn a bullseye target gun into a double stack speed demon shredder! Ya proper target sights a must for this thing which really is geared for the one handed bullseye target crowd.

    So it's not a home defense, target or carry pistol. Don't overthink it! It's just a good, solid, well designed shooter, a plinker if you MUST find a category to slot it into. Nothing wrong with that!

    Couldn’t agree more about a double stack 210. That would be a dream. Unfortunately if they did come out with one Sig would make them $5000 MSRP

    Needs to be updated and upgraded to a double stack pistol. If they did it for a 1911 to 2012 why not p210 to a p2010 or P2020?

    The reason why the sites and the magazine are the way they are is because this pistol is basically just a new manufactured gun from the original.

    Somehow I've transformed into a Sig guy instead of a Glock guy, although I'll always have a Glock19 since I'm so comfortable with it. But my carry is now a Sig p365xl, If I remember correctly you gave it a good review 🤙😊

    Excellent video. This is the first time I feel I've gotten the entire story on the P210.
    One thing I've not heard much about is the thumb safety. Yes it is similar to a 1911, but the edge on it is incredibly sharp. I run them like a 1911 with my thumb on top of the safety. Not for me.

    • @tristaneuritt9556
      @tristaneuritt9556 2 роки тому

      Couldn't agree more! The thumb safety on this is terrible. It's sharp, requires a lot of force to move and doesn't give enough purchase.

    I REALLY like the P210 Legend, it's all about the cool looks of that original for me. A double stack of that gun would be freakin sweet but the visual changes made on the standard just won't do.. even the beaver tail on the Legend is pushing it.

    I got the target version, and it seems like the reset is in two stages an the second stage seems longer the more I shoot it , have you noticed that? Great gun but I think I paid to much at 1700$, if I had it to do over I would have got the new python,
