thank you for this. i have been hella confused about putting out bx waipoints. i can explain why the BX7 waipoint is to the side of the aircraft as a standard. it is because the swedish military usualy releases their RB15 whilst moving 90* from the target so you are suposed to do a turn in the last minute towards bx6 before releasing it. that way you are moving away from the target and accelerating before the target knows it is under attack, also it helps with notching the targets radar.

Swedish military seem to have been rather focused on sinking EVERYTHING on the baltic sea.
Thank you for making these tutorials. I love the fact that they are organized and straight to the point as the title states. It makes learning these aircraft a whole lot easier.
The turn the missile does at the very end is an attempt to throw off CIWS and such things; it offsets its course from the target and then turns in towards it during the last few seconds of flight. I guess it's a bit harder to hit if it's not flying directly at you.
Today I read on the forum, that the Rb15 can be fired like the Rb04 in an emergency mode of sorts. It will then search targets like the Rb04 with it's on board radar at ranges up to 50km
You fire it as "pitbull" and it will go seek targets, is that what you're talking about? Remember if it's pitbull, it can track friendly craft as well, so be careful....
Thx for the info! Finally got the missiles to work thanks to you. :D As far as I know you are the best source of info on the Viggen (and many other aircraft in DCS)! :3
In this video the RB15F also ignores the Bx7, since Weapon mode is set to ATTACK before setting ANF (Known bug).I think currently the RB15F is bugged, cause setting ATTACK after ANF makes the RB15F's go to Bx7, but the instead of heading towards Bx8, they turn 90° in the direction of Bx8, but misses considerably due to the 90° turn.
That is true. As of recording this video I was not aware of this bug. On the RB-15F advanced tutorial I mentioned this hopefully temporary behaviour. I had those 90° turn issue as well, and it might be related to setting a custom 80xxxx code. The only 80xxxx code that has been reliably working for me is 800001. While using 800002 (which you have used if I understand your forum post correctly) the missile did that 90° turn for me as well.
If I understand the manual correctly, could you preset Nav waypoints in the editor, then while flying enter ANF mode with the missile selected and convert waypoints b6-8 into bx waypoints like you would convert Nav points into target points?
I have a somewhat a little issue with the rb 15 though. I was able to make the missile turn to the targets position but the missiles didn't hit them at all. It just flew past them. did I miss anything? thank you! BX8 was set correctly and BX7 was recognized by the rb 15 so it turned to the tgts.
xxJohnxx i used 800002 just like in the video. Ok i will try 01 thanks for the quick response. Appreciate it man. Great videos. I will continue to watch your next uploads for sure. cheers!
how can I fire two rb15's not at once, but in single volley? I tried to use the switch that you didn't use, but that didn't do the trick. Actually I also tried to fire exactly as you did, but only one missile went away. do you have an idea what went wrong?
what is that X on the radar that you can move around and set waypoints called and where can you find it so I can map it? have tryed to find it with no luck .:/
You have to use the T0 an TV trigger to move the radar cursor. The key commands for that are called "Radarstick Up/Down/Left/Right. More information on that in the Basic Navigation Video.
ah ok I have already binded thouse for the use off mavrik did not know you could use it for that aswell thanks for the infromation and keep doing this great teaching videos they help a lot with learning all this systems. :) but will probley have to write all this shit down on paper beside computer so I can remember it all. XD do you need to be in a special radarmode to be able to do that or does like NAV then A1 work?
Yeah, you need to be in the A1 radar mode. Then you have to use the T0 / TV Fix trigger and press it to the first dent to enable the cross. After slewing it to the desired position you pull it to the second dent (TV Fix position) and it will upate the position within the computer system. If you have the radar in the A0 mode, pulling the T0 / TV Fix trigger will place the waypoint on your current location. More on that in the Basic Navigation video.
well then I that thouth the MIG-21 was complicated this is a whole new level off complicated right here. XD but I guess thats to be expected from the worlds first plane that got a computer system in it like this. XD thanks for the answers and have a good day. :) see you in the air!
Great videos! Enjoying your Viggen series and learning a lot. Quick question - when I go back to base and re-arm with anti-ship missiles - it seems like I can't fire them afterwards. Do I need to do something after I re-arm to let the aircraft know it has missiles again?
Gat App Technologies I've been eagerly awaiting it and am so glad its finally here...once this hotfix comes (hopefully lets Bk-90 work in multiplayer) I'll be able to convince my friends its actually capable ;)
Brilliant videos John. They have really helped me a lot. What a great module the Viggen is. Do you know a way to get the ai to fire anti-ship missiles? I want to do a swarm attack on a Russian ship convoy.
Yes and no. The intended use for this missile is to use the BX8 waypoint for precise hitting capability at long range. However, with the Viggen's weapons systems you have a lot of diffrent ways to shoot stuff. If you do not turn the master mode selector to ANF but instead just put the weapon selector to ATTACK and set the safety to unsafe, the RB 15F will act like a RB 04E. It will just search targets directly ahead of it's seeker head and engage whatever comes into view first.
I've been doing this and 1 time only it went for the BX7 waypoint, when i am in ANF mode i can see the BX7 waypoint, and then i launch the missile in BX8 waypoint. It just goes straight ignoring BX7 EDIT: I think it was because I didn't set my Waypoint as M1, I didnt think it was necessary, please if you can confirm that setting B1(for example) as M1 is a necessity

Thank you for the info. The stuff they have simulated is amazing.

Maybe in Bearing mode? Was it 800004?
If you fire it in nav mode it will go in a too mode.
Thx for the info! Finally got the missiles to work thanks to you. :D As far as I know you are the best source of info on the Viggen (and many other aircraft in DCS)! :3
As luck may have it, I keep stumbling up on your great tutorials on all things DCS. Might as well subscribe, right? Great work, John, as always.
For me, the other tutorial is basic and this here is advanced. Cause setting up in the radar is more complicated, than setting dots in the ME. :)
Thank you a lot for your great videos !
Wonderful video thank you!
i can never get my missile to launch, any idea why? i have the waypoints and everything

Correct - I used 800002.
Using 800001 works great.
Thanks for the headsup John 😀
In order to both missiles get different targets, it's possible to release them in a interval, for eg. One now and the other in 5-7s? What would work?
If I understand the manual correctly, could you preset Nav waypoints in the editor, then while flying enter ANF mode with the missile selected and convert waypoints b6-8 into bx waypoints like you would convert Nav points into target points?
Currently working on a video that explains this in a lot of detail. Will be up tomorrow probably.
xxJohnxx awesome!
Well, not entering navpoints in the editor. The next one will though.

Did you set any weapon code as shown in the advanced tutorial? If not, try code 80 0001, as the default code has a couple of issues right now.
xxJohnxx i used 800002 just like in the video. Ok i will try 01 thanks for the quick response. Appreciate it man. Great videos. I will continue to watch your next uploads for sure. cheers!
How to make m1 back to b1?
Should i pic viggen or huey when i play multiplayer only ? I play on open conflict thanks .
i dont get the range bar. anyone know what the problem is?

I tried to use the switch that you didn't use, but that didn't do the trick.

hold the trigger.

Apparently there are some problems with re-arming right now. Hopefully friday's Hotfix can resolve that problem.
Once again everyone is eagerly awaiting another Friday from LNS :)
WumbologyTM yep. Can't wait. She's a great plane to learn. Been taking my time away from testing helicopters, but well worth it.
Gat App Technologies I've been eagerly awaiting it and am so glad its finally here...once this hotfix comes (hopefully lets Bk-90 work in multiplayer) I'll be able to convince my friends its actually capable ;)
doesnt work wtf what did you do now in the mission editor without telling me
Brilliant videos John. They have really helped me a lot. What a great module the Viggen is. Do you know a way to get the ai to fire anti-ship missiles? I want to do a swarm attack on a Russian ship convoy.
Great tutorial, thanks!
how to move and make crosshair in raderpanel?
Press T0, then move the crosshair with the radar stick. When you are satisfied, press TV. Set these up in the radar section of the controls menu.
is necessary to use the bx8 waypoint to use this missile ?
Yes and no. The intended use for this missile is to use the BX8 waypoint for precise hitting capability at long range.

Subscribed!
I was gonna ask , but the rb 15? then i see this, thanks john
Do more videos like these ! 1 every 3 month is not enough
I've been doing this and 1 time only it went for the BX7 waypoint, when i am in ANF mode i can see the BX7 waypoint, and then i launch the missile in BX8 waypoint. It just goes straight ignoring BX7
EDIT: I think it was because I didn't set my Waypoint as M1, I didnt think it was necessary, please if you can confirm that setting B1(for example) as M1 is a necessity
I don't think converting it from B1 to M1 is stricktly necessary. Never actually tried it though.
thx for ur videos guy, im subscribe ! Nice to see it with pdf manual, i like to see pratice in same time.
S~
Are you Finnish by any chance? I fly with a guy from Finland and his accent sounds really similar to yours.
Sounds like a german accent to me. :P
He's Australian. Sorry, inside joke. ;)
Australian indeed :P
+spoonwitz , poor finish guy.
My accent is very Austrian unfortunatly...
xxJohnxx Thought you sounded Swedish.
We want vedio about AV-8
he is away getting a pilots license
Nice
