The fun fact is Taiwan used to be called "The dessert of horror movie," as a huge fan of horror movie, I am really glad that director did this movie, but before this movie, we hardly have this kind of gore horror movie, Taiwan's film makers did some this kind of movies maybe three times? but those movies are really...fucked up, that's why we usually do romance comedy or some drama things so in the same opinion, people thought "The sadness" is another "Train to Busan" or something like Korean Drama "Sweet Home" and apparently, the marketing company really wanted to promote this movie like another "Train to Busan" I deeply doubted that the marketing company's people didn't see this movie, and just promoted by its trailer, but anyway, I am really happy with this movie, and lucky to see it on Jan 22nd though my friend was disgusted by it and happy that Rob did this movie, finally let the world know Taiwan also can make this kind of movie.
the only thing i know about Taiwanese film scene was...some of my Shaw Brothers legends AND Ang Lee came from there. So, yeah...I was TOTALLY..and gladly surprised to have seen this movie.
I always thought the name was a double entendre referencing the plight of the situation and also the tears shed by the infected as they gleefully tear their victims apart
I watched it I enjoyed it .. but for me it need a part 2 and hit the global state of more crazy depraved people and how to escape a certain area like the part one .. you people doing a great job of whats the true horror feels like
The fact the man did not acknowledge the later crossed comics where they became more intelligent and calculating is quite sad, because while there were basic dumb crossed natural selection kinda wiped them out and left the more intelligent individuals that eventually led to more calculating and communitive infected. The point was the evolution of evil, hell in the first series we legit meet a proto intelligent crossed named "horsecock" who spent his time taunting his prey and saving them for more screwed up atrocities. I think this dude might have picked up like, one issue and read it then took everything at face value, either way though its cool we got ta film inspired some what by this comic.
he probably read the base comic, and skipped on the opther versions, which again, is fine, i feel like alot of badlands has kind of a... mad max kind of vibe to it, its a bit to much for a horror movie imho, and psychopath/ FV were kind of just... eh, psychopath wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it wasnt the same
I did just watch the movie, I can say that he did a pretty dang good job at mimicking what the crossed were about, with some improvements to the way they speak imo, they even still had a strange liking towards using gardening tools! one thing that wasn't done so well was the shear level of violence in the comic, but this can be chocked up for having to work with the movie overlords
@@grendel8342 it's on Blu-ray, I pre ordered it, so I got it a smidge early... It should be releasing fully on DVD in like, 3 weeks, on the dot I think
the movie is a 1:1 copy of The Crossed comic books series. Except for the name and the vomiting, the rest is exactly the same, even the behavior of the infected
I find it interesting that he had to Americanize the believing disinformation aspect...it is interesting (sad, and fascinating...in the right situations could be good)...that Americans approach pandemic situations in this light.
Well when your expert bounces back and forth twenty times a week you start to question their sanity. Also I think Rob is a bit naive to surrounding factors like culture, economy and such.
Disgusting and spectacular! Major Trigger Warning! This movie is an overwhelming bombardment of extreme violence for 100 minutes. It is so deeply offensive that I can't describe it here without this comment being removed. Good luck!
An incredible film...... But it is so nihilistic that I felt absolutely hopeless, these are the worst version of zombies ever, so depraved and sick #### worst as In great####
as a Taiwanese this film is just offensive. a white guy has no understanding whatsoever about our society trying to make this film to make us reflect on sth or what? only credit goes to the special effect and make up artists.
I mean there wasn't any known film in the pipe so.... You could be annoyed at him saying that he improved upon the infected by making them smarter when that had been done in later Crossed entries
I tend to agree. He was like, how can I appropriate this idea in lieu of having my own. Well, whatever, I guess people like it. He did say he was lazy-maybe he couldn’t be bothered to drum up an original idea!
i love this movie!!
Say what you want, but this was an insanely impressive directorial debut.
The fun fact is Taiwan used to be called "The dessert of horror movie,"
as a huge fan of horror movie, I am really glad that director did this movie,
but before this movie, we hardly have this kind of gore horror movie,
Taiwan's film makers did some this kind of movies maybe three times?
but those movies are really...fucked up, that's why we usually do romance comedy or some drama things
so in the same opinion, people thought "The sadness" is another "Train to Busan"
or something like Korean Drama "Sweet Home"
and apparently, the marketing company really wanted to promote this movie like another "Train to Busan"
I deeply doubted that the marketing company's people didn't see this movie, and just promoted by its trailer,
but anyway, I am really happy with this movie, and lucky to see it on Jan 22nd
though my friend was disgusted by it
and happy that Rob did this movie, finally let the world know Taiwan also can make this kind of movie.
You are very lucky to watch it early. We are very excited to see it here in America.
Hey! Thank you so much. I really did make this movie for Taiwan. Im so happy you enjoyed it.
the only thing i know about Taiwanese film scene was...some of my Shaw Brothers legends AND Ang Lee came from there.
So, yeah...I was TOTALLY..and gladly surprised to have seen this movie.
I knew while I was watching the movie, it was inspired by Crossed. But hearing it made me super excited lmao
Please don’t stop, dude. As much as your movie is very out there, is a masterpiece. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
I absolutely loved this film. Thank you!

Awesome interview! Jabbaz rules.
we loved the film! 10 out of 10!

Id like to see him adapt a Richard Laymon book
Have an Uncut 4K release coming in the mail - Can't wait to see your twisted masterpiece Rob👍👍👍
Im so glad he cited the crossed origin it would have bugged me without because it was so clear. But fuck yeah to garth ennis and this director 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I liked the female lead, especially the fact that she was sassy.
Every single female lead since 1930s is sassy
Did the army shoot the female lead at the end thinking she was infected?
Nah
She was actually infected and yeah they did.
