Twilight revealed some of the messages and why the Crystal's are created, but the message still left out a few things, so I have a feeling this message is gonna be huge for upcoming seasons ^^ cannot wait to see more
I’m kinda wondering if Twilight also put part of the magic into Sparky’s egg. I noticed that she was going to say a second object that she put the magic in, but the recording glitched when it would have been said.
That’s a really good theory but thinking about it, it may be unlikely. Because if we remember the RariSpike moments in MLP:FiM. My theory is that Sparky is a descendant of Rarity and Spike. I mean... Think about it. A magic dragon... Only a unicorn and a dragon could make that baby given Sparky’s magic abilities. Although Sparky’s birth parents would have to be after RariSpike though given how long it’s been since the time of the mane 6 and Spike. Or not, we could both be wrong and Sparky is a special dragon. We could both even be right. Hey, it could happen. You’ll never know til you know.
@@ThatSurvivorPony Well actually there is another option, one that already has more experience with interspecies relationships than Spike and that's Smolder. Imagine for a moment, Yona and her own partner paving the way for Smolder to gain her own crush, she's a little bit older and while she's not directly a royal dragon by any means it's implied that she and her brother are related to the big red dragon we see at the early stages of the show. A dragon who is among the biggest we've ever seen in the show. Imagine what would happen if a powerful but still common dragon were to mate with a pony or even another race with magic like the hyppogriffs that would allow for a new species a wyrm or wyvern of sorts to be created.

What about luster dawn and her friends aren't they stoping opaline? And more importantly where and what happened to every creatures in Equestria? Along with spike, flurry heart and cadence?

Agreed. However her interaction with the mane 5 would be what everyone would want, but it wouldn’t be expected. I think that there will be flashbacks or more holograms like the one in episode 2. However, some things may be different. Or not... What do I know.
Swear after I saw that episode, I instantly wrote theories - The new villian was alive during Twilights reign because Twilight knows her. - New villian striked after the main 7 died except for Twilight and Spike - After her friends died, the tree of harmony’s elements resorted into its based form, 3 unity crystals. - Flurry Heart should be alive - The other 3 princesses are unknown if alive - Discord should be alive - Twilight had to fight against the new villian without her friends and used the 3 unity crystals like Princess Celestia using the elements of harmony against Nightmare Moon, Discord, etc. - Twilight used majority of her magic in that fight so she resorted back to her true form ( Based off of Twilight message and Luna design after she returned back from being Nightmare Moon) - All the major landmarks of equestria probably got taken over - After Twilight fight against the new villain, she must of vanished or was sealed, and since she the princess of friendship, everything starts falling apart. - Every creature became divided, unicorns moved to the everfree forest, earth ponies went to ponyvil, pegasus return to cloudstale, every other creature return to their origins - the 3 unity crystals that sealed the villian failed after the division and the new villian returned but still weakened - The new villian picked up a foul who doesn’t have a cutie mark but noticed that she is special - Villian seeks to gain her power back after the battle with Twilight - Sunny isn’t a true alicorn (her wings and horn isn’t permanent) she’ll gain permanent ones towards the end of the show.
Sorry to burst ya bubble but the 3 unity crystals were created by twilight to contained the magic so no one (especially opaline) could ever abuse magic and use it for their own selfish gains The mane 6 were not dead they were there when she created the crystals Twilight used the majority of her magic when she literally contained the world's magic into 3 crystals
I actually ended up binging all 8 episodes (when I wasn't in class). I'm hoping we get answers as to why the magic of Equestria got stronger to the point that Earth ponies can use it now. There's just a lot of unanswered questions that I'm sure the show will answer. Also, it made me upset they didn't give credit to Tara Strong. They only confirmed that she voiced Twilight in this. The show has been really great so far. Even though I initially thought the show is childish, it's been really great. It was kinda hard to stop watching. I wonder how often they'll drop the 7 or 8 episodes. Once every month?
If they drop them every 4 months that would put out 24 in a year, with this time next year starting "season 2". Which I think would be a great way to do it as it keeps fans engaged longer.
Initially I thought someone was doing a really good Tara Strong impression, but it turned out she returned to reprise Twilight! Pleasantly surprised by that. It also got me quite piqued in Opaline's history... according to captions, Twilight was trying to say Opaline will try to "op" (before it got cut off by static). My current theory is, Opaline's plan is to open a portal. Perhaps a portal out of Tartarus so the creatures locked there can wreck havoc? Only time will tell.

This instantly became one of my favorite of the 8 episodes, mostly because of the Twilight's message, although just like you Doc i kinda thought that episode 2 was a little too early for Twilight's message to appear but i'm glad it did anyway. and i was especially happy that the story was already getting interesting with Twilight's message revealing some lore about the what happened between G4 and G5 i thought it was about time the story was given some lore. And it was good to finally see Sprout again after all this time.
i don't think it was too early, it's a pretty brief message and it comes at the end of the episode. It did the job of inserting mystery and tension with Opal without overstaying it's welcome.
Don't forget about where and what happened to every creatures in Equestria? Along with spike, flurry heart and cadence, more importantly why can't luster dawn and her friends stop opaline?
Wait I just realized that aside of marketability cuz normal twi is how most kids remember her. Literally FIM showed us what an Alicorn with drained magic looks like through Luna, Luna was small and the same stature as our ponies when they defeated her as nightmare moon. But before she turned into nightmare moon she was her normal Alicorn height during the flashbacks. So, Twlight said she used almost all of her powers so makes sense she'll revert back to her normal self and why she died. Because as Opaline said, Alicorns are inmortal.

This episode got me to like Hitch again. It shows more of his fears and also his motivation. From the first movie I enjoyed his character and found myself relating to him often then Izzy or any other pony. Then make your mark felt like dropped the ball and it was hard to sit through especially since Hitch wasn't being Hitch. Izzy was more being him than him. Then this episode, yes this is the Hitch. He cares about the citizens and want to defend them to the point of going extreme while trying to understand the power. That's a great way and I am so glad they didn't botch up the ending because it could of easily made it bad. And they continue this so yeah very happy for this.

I was glad that Twilight popped up, cause her message made me wonder if she left more that can only be unraveled the closer they get to be unified through friendship. Plus it seem Zipp was interested in what Twilight was trying to tell them. That aside, I was concern for Hitch with how he was tackling Magic problems, but glad he had Sunny & Zipp there for him to try & calm down when his fears were getting to him. Plus it seem the crystals pulse snapped him out of it like it brought out his honesty & kindness to awaken him.
Having Tara Strong returning was great! I do enjoy Hitch in this episode and it was nice to see Sprout too. I feel like the message will return in the future
As for Hitch and the Crystal, I completely agree! It kinda reminded me of when Buggs Bunny first met the Gremlin as it tried to detonate the blockbuster bomb: Buggs wound up the swing, let her rip, and, just inches before impact he stopped and screamed, "WHAT AM I DOING?!" It was that classic moment when you think the most drastic measure is the only way to go, only to have a sudden moment of clarity right when you're on the edge of the "point of no return".
Maybe the message was made after Twilight took magic away, including her own? That's maybe why she "degraded" to her regular form. She could've left enough magic in herself in order to make the vision, but most of her god powers were gone.

So no one is going to say anything about Hitch being a dragon dad to Sparky? Or the fact that he called himself a dragon dad? Honestly I would have love to hear people say anything about that. Two episodes in and Hitch is already proving himself to be a great father to Sparky and I can’t wait to see more of their relationship.
Not only did I love that I'm loving how involved Sparky is with the group. He can't talk yet and I hope that changes soon but their still making sure he's included. I'm very happy with what I'm seeing so far.
"Earth Ponies have access to magic for the very first time" Okay, I get that their magic is more noticeable but they've always had it otherwise, WTF was Tirek stealing from them?! Cutie Mark magic?!
Wait a minute... Earth ponies actually did have magic in G4 - it's just that it took the form if increased strength and endurance (and apparently low-level plant growth magic, and other subtle "connection to the land" type stuff).
Twilight is back!!! She revealed how she put the different pony types magic in the crystals to protect it from opaline and used a cloaking spell so opaline had no access to the magic or equestria. When they were united magic returned the cloaking spell broke - that burst of magic that happened before sunny became an alicorn.
I liked Twilight's message, and thought it was muddled at some parts it just means it's something the new ponies have to figure out. Although fans are already voicing complaints as to why Twilight's message is of her in her original alicorn form instead of her form in the Last Problem. Many are speculating it's a different universe compared to the full events of gen 4. But what could be simpler is they chose to use the alicorn form the fandom was used to rather than her final form. And it was nice to see Sprout again. At least we know he wasn't written out of the show completely. Just doing time as a janitor at Canterlogic to make up for his crimes.
I like the theory that this is an alternative universe tbh! It'll make sense to many many questions. But I also feel they just went with the form most kids and people remember twilight and how she's marketed
I feel like twilight’s form in the holograph also explains her stature, as in why she isn’t as big as she was at the end of The Last Problem. If Opaline had taken all the magic, or Twilight had to summon all her magic to create the crystals, it certainly stands to reason part of her alicorn stature would also change.
so i actually think that she is the bigger version in the hologram, if you look at opaline she is much bigger than misty. i think that twilight is actually her bigger self but the way they have animated it makes her look smaller
I don't think so since we see that her form didn't change. It's just an odd retcon at best but I doubt the hologram is actually Twilight or a message from / recording of her.

Pointing out that her appearance is different and contemplating whether or not it could mean something lore wise isn't overthinking, it's entirely normal in a show that's trying to take how the character looks seriously and uses how a character appears visually as a means of showing something lore wise. It's also perfectly okay to be upset if the people working on the show got lazy and retconned the literal main character of G4.
The writers are trying to take the lore too seriously so I will give that energy back to them. If they didn't want lore speculations or high standards for the lore, they shouldn't have made the show lore heavy, a continuation of G4 or try to add onto or retcon the lore at all. I will treat them with the standard they built for themselves. Boo hoo. Stop trying to be quirky and anti-analysis. Lol.
I was surprised at first by how quick the message came but after that it made sense. We as a watcher already know about Opaline. That part of the plot was not hidden. Now your heroes have a key information to go with that will also add to the stress of this whole situation. Especially with someone like Hitch who is baisicaly the stallion of a Paladin. He want to protect people but you give him an invisible enemy. Right when he choose not to take away magic. It tell him , he is right to worry. His sense are great and sharp but it was the wrong culprit. Ultimately I thinks the reaction to Hitch was pretty much a reflection of the reaction many should have watching the show. They watch it. It is new yet there is a similar core. They wish that it would be G4 but it is not. However, as Hitch is about to pull the plug. He see that the new magic. This new Generation is there. It is part of this beautiful world now. And we should accept it for what it is. I really love that this show do mirrors like this. Not to mention that i agree fully with your reaction to Hitch as a character I had the same one. And yes I was so glad it wasn't the "favorite pony sunny " that made a speech to change his mind but that it came from himself. It take courage to face our fears and Hitch showed more courage then many did in ages.
I still feel bad for Misty. She’s not getting the respect she deserves. I want to see her meet the mane five soon. So they can show her how great friendship is and she realizes that Opaline is not somepony worth serving.
I really liked Twilight’s message, outright saying that magic is alive. A theory I have been working on for years! (Simply said, Harmony [from the tree of harmony] is the intelligence that governs the magic of the planet). And the lore she put in motion is alluring, though inconclusive.
this Is Intresting knowing that Twi is part of this Bigger Puzzle one that hasn't been discovered or put togther yet but it makes it more Interesting to find out more and Try to solve it
I already watched it the whole season yesterday but what I do want to say about episode 2 was that I was EXTREMELY surprised when we saw Twilight this early but you know it was awesome!! I know a little bit about the Gen 5 Comics (even though I didn't read them) but I think the series is adopting some lore from the comics. but that's just me
I mean, it's an improvement over the comic explanation as to why all the magic in the world disappeared, but it's only a slight improvement. What's mind-boggling, is why is the image of Twilight PRE-Last Problem?
Actually I have a theory about this projection not being a recording from twilight, but the harmony tree talking to the mane five, I think this because of cutie mark that we could see, just as when the harmony tree was working . Or maybe in fact is a recording from twilight, but combined with magic from the elements so this messages can you be seen by the next choosen
Ever since Why Magic in Equestria disappeared was Because Twilight was trying to protect her subjects from Orpleam or what her name and It could be the reason why All the tribes split up
So happy that Hitch is going to be a strongly developed male character ^^ With Twilight's message, I wonder if we'll see Applejack and Pinkie Pie express this magic all Earth Ponies have. We know Pinkie's able to handle Discord's magic, and with Sprout(who now that I think about it looks a little like Big Mac) having such amazing growing magic for plants, I wonder of Applejack's farm ran into a terrible drought that caused herself and her family to ap into the Earth Pony magic even more than before, able to bring completely dead land into a bountiful crop of all kinds of fruits, vegetables, and plants of all kinds.

Kind of a minor thing, but it does annoy me that Twilight says that Earth ponies having magic is a new thing when FIM established that they did have magic before. Then again I think FIM forgot that at points of the show.
Honestly I hope twilight is alive, I couldn't see a Mlp series without her kicking around and the more people say she could be dead makes me more sad than hopeful, We can at least factor that magic doesn't make Alicorn Immortality go away since one Opaline is alive, Discord is alive, and the countless times Celestia and Luna have lost there magic to only later be alive. There are factors and the only thing I hope is Twilight being alive. For now, Let us just pray.

I had felt that the theme song had a watered-down PowerRanger vibe to it, to the point where it actually reminded me of something else, though I couldn't place it at the time. But during this thought process, the hologram gave me MAJOR Zordon vibes! It would be so cool if the crystal could one day allow the Mane 5 to speak to Twilight directly! I later determined that the theme song more closely reminded me of PawPatrol; also very PowerRanger-esk, but of a more childish nature. Ironically, the CG route makes the show feel weaker, despite the more advanced style. And I think I know why: The squash and stretch style of 2-D animation allows for more freedom of movement while this CG animation feels far too solid and realistic, taking away some of the fun. To me, anyway.
I personally was confused on why it was never established if Sunny had the ability to do earth pony magic. Considering she is original an earth pony + an alicorn that’s meant to have all 3 ponies magic? The fact that she never tried to use the magic herself (with how obsessed she is with it) was odd

Remember that one scene in hearthswarming eve where aj picked up a lump of soil and a plant immediately sprouted from it. Or what about that one scen in cutie re-mark where pinky and maud from the sombra alternate future ground a boulder down to pebles in literal seconds with their bare hooves. Their called earth ponies for a reason dog onnit.

Earth ponies also boast the greatest physical strength of the 3 tribes (im not counting alicorns sence 5 is too small a sample size) . Hell, earth ponies could probably perform geomancy and swim though the ground like its water with enough training. See this is my biggest problem with g5, whats the point of even making a sequel if you gonna egnore a fundamental peice of lore form your prediseser. G5 shouldn't of been a sequel in the first place.

I think there is more to Twilight's message I think she could be alive, but I think she could be in limbo, and I think the crystals could be the key to finding her.
What I think is there was some sort of power struggle in the past and this opelen Pony used a changeling method divide and conquer to get the magic for herself in which backfired because of Twilight's plan she might have divided the races but they took the three parts of the crystal along with them leaving whatever magic she had possession of
One question I had with Twilight's message was with Twilight's model itself. It's not the older alicorn princess model we see in the far future part of the G4 finale, which implies the message and creation of the Unity Crystals happened between defeating the Evil Three and the future part. However in the future part it's clear magic is still around and all creatures are living together so that can't be right. I imagine it's just an oversight by the artists or they went for the younger alicorn model because it would be more recognisable to younger fans who may not have seen the finale. Or it is an older alicorn model like Opaline but because the hologram doesn't show her whole body it makes her look shorter than she actually is. Doesn't stop me enjoying the scene but raised an eyebrow.
Geez, it sure is a breath of fresh air to see Hitch not completely neglecting his job in Chapter 2. Twilight's message has answered the question of what the heck happened somewhat. In terms of opaline, she is kind of a lame villain in many aspects. much more interested in Misty which is what I think they are going for.
When I first saw that episode and her message, I had thought about Opaline, and then Cozy Glow. I'm not sure why, but it sounds like an "o" sound at the end of her name when Twilight mentions who could have tempered with the magic. But that could just be me, because I personally loved Cozy when she was a villain. But that was G4, we have a new villain that we don't know. It wouldn't make sense for Cozy to come back.
Those two VAs have been in the MLP franchise since G3 (2003 for Tabitha and 2006 for Britt), so it would be cool if they came back for G5. But whether their characters are still alive is another story.

It makes sense for magic to evolve. In Avatar: The Last Airbender, lighting bending was rare, hard to master, and dangerous. In Korra, it's a 9 to 5 that pays the bills. With this, it also makes a whole lot of sense that Opaline wants more of the ever changing magic and why Twilight was so worried. I mean, she could cast spells, fly, and be Poison Ivy.
This kind of retcons the comics because they learn the same message from Discord while here they learn it from Twilight. So i guess GM Berrow told comics the lore trivia and they did it on their own way. She should had told them that they learn it first from the crystal because now it look like they learned it first from Discord.
There are two things I'm personally curious about in this episode. First, when hitch touched the crystal you can see a small wave of energy released from them and then he comes to his senses. But why is that? Second, the tree that grew towards the end of the episode due to their magic being unified. Zipp said it looked familiar but she doesn't know why. Is it possible this could be a new tree of harmony or did Zipp see something in reference towards it from her secret chamber inside the the castle at zephyr heights.
Remember when spike was hatched by twilight when she was in magic kindergarden? She was 4-6 years older than spike. Take into account dragon age. Living for millennia 1 is newborn, 5 is toddler, 13 is child... 60 is child too. 130 is teen. 200 is young adult, 500 is essentially midlife. 50 years old in pony years.
Speaking of Twilight Sparkle being in Make Your Mark, I had a theory that Opaline was Twilight Sparkle turned evil; now that theory is dead because it turns out that Twilight was protecting magic from Opaline.
well one thing to know that is something has to connected between twilight and opaline what was happening we need a flashback some origins and some of im worry about her friend and family like applejack pinkie pie rarity rainbow dash fluttershy cadence shining armour flurry hearts and her student as well maybe they pass away because of their ages and i also worry a out human version as well
The second episode, unlike the first, actually got me interested in seeing some more. I respect your desire for no spoilers, especially as I still haven’t watched all eight episodes yet-but I have watched the first four. After I saw the second episode, I wondered why they didn’t start with this one. I’m still not quite seeing what drew me to Friendship is Magic, but I’m willing to give this new show a chance, if for no other reason that I’m curious about these mysteries and teasers myself. Honestly, when I saw the Twilight Sparkle hologram, I wondered why nopony called her “Princess” Twilight Sparkle. And while this might not actually go anywhere, I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe it WASN’T Twilight at all, but rather Harmony. That possibility was never addressed, so I’m thinking maybe not, but who knows? I still don’t know if there’s a member of the Mane 5 that I most identify with-not to the extent that I identified with Twilight and Fluttershy in Friendship is Magic-but I’m kind of tentatively leaning towards Zipp, which surprises me.
Wonder what the pony population would think if they saw Twilight's message. I wonder if the magic of the crystals can be released rather than kept in their geode prisms. It makes no sense how Opaline can exist for hundreds of years and nobody has ever heard of her. She's not even legendary like Starswirl, she's completely obscured. I'm glad that the Mane Five's personalities and beings are being preserved. Hitch is quite a serious pony, I wonder when we'll see Izzy at her most serious moment like Pinkie Pie after Twlight stole the Seaponies' pearl.
Well here my thing since this season could be in two half with chapter two being season 1A while chapter three 2B and this is only me but I think their will be hologram message from each of the remaining Mare 6 that will try to warn them on other possible dangers other than opaline.
For my thoughts DRWolf001 I think that the G 5 pony's should take Twilight seriously and not ignore what she side about the new villein. The pony's need too found the villein and put a stop of this new villein.
Agreed. But unless they don’t know how big the rest of Equestria is, they should be double worried! What remains of other pony settlements(it’s possible) & other creatures settlements that want the new main 5’s united homes on fire 🔥?!?!
I watched all 7 episodes but no spoilers, twilight gave us more questions than answers :D , but i think in next seasons we will get answers for some questions :D

The first incarnation's popularity peaked in 1990, but the following year Hasbro decided to discontinue the toy line due to increased competition. One hundred fifty million ponies were sold in the 1980s. The toy line was revived in 1997, but these toys proved unpopular and were discontinued in 1999.
The voice actor doing Twilight's hologram's voice doesn't really sound like Tara Strong, but the way the recording looks degraded, it makes it easier for me to justify the voice difference as it being an old recording that has degraded and decayed over time, possibly even partially fragmented.
This was an old theory I had, that Opaline was Chrysalis in a new form. Considering how she was shown breaking out at the end of season 10, and that her name means cocoon, I thought maybe the she would molt out of her changeling form into Opaline which would mean the heroes inadvertently giving her a power up. I had discarded this, but considering Opaline's personality it wouldn't be too outlandish a twist.

A word of caution for those that didn't blow through the entire fresh batch of episodes, spoiler alert skip my comment if you don't want to know. I thought it was awesome to have seen Twilight even if she didn't look like a 3d Alicorn version of herself at the end of G4 season 9 episode 26. The Last Problem, which kind of made me wonder, however Opaline stating that Alicorns are immortal beings that should be treated as gods or something like that had me thinking if they truly are Immortal then where are all the Alicorn princesses? Luna, Celestia, Cadence, Flurry Heart? We can speculate that Twilight herself is probably gone or perhaps not and she'll show up again as something similar to that of Star Swirl the Bearded and his friends, to guide or advise the G5 ponies. Opaline certainly created more questions with what she said and I'm still wondering where she fits in and if she was even in G4 or in a comic or something because she seems to know more than what they show us. Could she be a Nightmare Moon version of Flurry Heart or perhaps another Pony all together that wishes to consume all the magic for herself, as for the 3D animations the voice acting they were all done really well and it was really neat to watch so I will definitely be waiting for future episodes.
I noticed that she mentioned about alicorns being immortal too. Because it was never said in G4 that alicorns were immortal. It must've been something that the writers of G5 added. And it does make me wonder about happened to Twilight, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Flurry Heart. Because nobody has said anything about Twilight being dead or anything. I don't really understand the theory of Opaline being the Nightmare Moon version of Flurry Heart. I've seen it floating, and I don't know how people got that idea.

To me she seams like one of those uptight unicorns who thinks because they have magic they deserve to be worshiped and treated better. Perhaps she started as a unicorn and stole magic until she was an alicorn. Or perhaps she is a decendant of one of the princesses that became corrupted or power hungry
No spoilers, but it feels… boxed in… even after 8 episodes… but I only watched the reviews & the free episode on the “Netflix after school” UA-cam channel. I’m worried about the series. We still have no answer to if the rest of equestria is suffering pain & I know pain that is not nursed, given help/relief, and left unchecked without friends can lead to revenge… the saying goes “revenge is a confession of pain”, but I know revenge also causes unnecessary chaos & pain on others and is not always the solution! I was hoping we had answers to what lies beyond now & more than one villain. I also thought an episode on why & how revenge & vengeance is not always the solution, which I thought could appeal to both G4 & G5 fans alike! Because if you or someone else is out for revenge, why not is telling anyone or especially a friend the pain that is the source of vengeance better? Especially if you or someone else is just hurting other & making chaos if you are not letting this out, and may find friends & allies you never thought would be wanting to help, heal, and or give you TLC where you never thought you find it! Realistically, pony-kind should have a bunch of villains from other parts of equestria on their “flanks” wanting to claw-slash, smash, or flame-broil their “flanks” off of equestria, especially if the magic loss did not only affect pony-kind!… But I would love to see an adventure or adventures of the new main 5 out to fix this!!!😮🎉

Twilight appearing was certainly odd to see but I think it works. It sets up some obvious plot treads but keeps room for speculation. At this episode I begun to wonder why is Misty working with Opaline. After all Opaline is clearly manipulating her. But how, and why. If she was or is so powerfull then why does she need a lacky to do the dirty work. I almost want to bet Opaline took Misty from her home as a foal or "Disposed of" The parents and then took Misty under her vary dark wings. Honestly I hope Misty does have some family some where becuse that might (Keyword might) help her in her inevitable face turn. Honestly if it turns out her and Izzy are long lost sisters or Cousins or something I wouldn't mind that. It actually would be quite interesting. (In my option)
The only thing I liked about episode 2 was Twilight, Opaline and Misty, Hitch was way too controlling and out of character he didn’t even listen to his friends or Sunny 🙄
i'm kinda hoping the villain is chrysalis herself. Besides any other villain besides a brand new one, she referred the villain as a "her" so it can't be tirek, sombra, or discord. It can't be nightmare moon sense luna's most likely dead. It could also be cozy glow, hunting for the magic again. So the villain could either be a new villain, chrysalis, or cozy glow, but i'd like to believe that it's chrysalis or maybe chrysalis and cozy glow, but the main villain will probably be a new one

That’s a really good theory but thinking about it, it may be unlikely. Because if we remember the RariSpike moments in MLP:FiM. My theory is that Sparky is a descendant of Rarity and Spike. I mean... Think about it. A magic dragon... Only a unicorn and a dragon could make that baby given Sparky’s magic abilities. Although Sparky’s birth parents would have to be after RariSpike though given how long it’s been since the time of the mane 6 and Spike. Or not, we could both be wrong and Sparky is a special dragon. We could both even be right. Hey, it could happen. You’ll never know til you know.

Imagine for a moment, Yona and her own partner paving the way for Smolder to gain her own crush, she's a little bit older and while she's not directly a royal dragon by any means it's implied that she and her brother are related to the big red dragon we see at the early stages of the show. A dragon who is among the biggest we've ever seen in the show. Imagine what would happen if a powerful but still common dragon were to mate with a pony or even another race with magic like the hyppogriffs that would allow for a new species a wyrm or wyvern of sorts to be created.

Swear after I saw that episode, I instantly wrote theories
- The new villian was alive during Twilights reign because Twilight knows her.
- New villian striked after the main 7 died except for Twilight and Spike
- After her friends died, the tree of harmony’s elements resorted into its based form, 3 unity crystals.
- Flurry Heart should be alive
- The other 3 princesses are unknown if alive
- Discord should be alive
- Twilight had to fight against the new villian without her friends and used the 3 unity crystals like Princess Celestia using the elements of harmony against Nightmare Moon, Discord, etc.
- Twilight used majority of her magic in that fight so she resorted back to her true form ( Based off of Twilight message and Luna design after she returned back from being Nightmare Moon)
- All the major landmarks of equestria probably got taken over
- After Twilight fight against the new villain, she must of vanished or was sealed, and since she the princess of friendship, everything starts falling apart.
- Every creature became divided, unicorns moved to the everfree forest, earth ponies went to ponyvil, pegasus return to cloudstale, every other creature return to their origins
- the 3 unity crystals that sealed the villian failed after the division and the new villian returned but still weakened
- The new villian picked up a foul who doesn’t have a cutie mark but noticed that she is special
- Villian seeks to gain her power back after the battle with Twilight
- Sunny isn’t a true alicorn (her wings and horn isn’t permanent) she’ll gain permanent ones towards the end of the show.
Sorry to burst ya bubble but the 3 unity crystals were created by twilight to contained the magic so no one (especially opaline) could ever abuse magic and use it for their own selfish gains

I actually ended up binging all 8 episodes (when I wasn't in class). I'm hoping we get answers as to why the magic of Equestria got stronger to the point that Earth ponies can use it now. There's just a lot of unanswered questions that I'm sure the show will answer. Also, it made me upset they didn't give credit to Tara Strong. They only confirmed that she voiced Twilight in this. The show has been really great so far. Even though I initially thought the show is childish, it's been really great. It was kinda hard to stop watching. I wonder how often they'll drop the 7 or 8 episodes. Once every month?
If they drop them every 4 months that would put out 24 in a year, with this time next year starting "season 2". Which I think would be a great way to do it as it keeps fans engaged longer.

Initially I thought someone was doing a really good Tara Strong impression, but it turned out she returned to reprise Twilight! Pleasantly surprised by that.
It also got me quite piqued in Opaline's history... according to captions, Twilight was trying to say Opaline will try to "op" (before it got cut off by static). My current theory is, Opaline's plan is to open a portal. Perhaps a portal out of Tartarus so the creatures locked there can wreck havoc? Only time will tell.

This instantly became one of my favorite of the 8 episodes, mostly because of the Twilight's message, although just like you Doc i kinda thought that episode 2 was a little too early for Twilight's message to appear but i'm glad it did anyway. and i was especially happy that the story was already getting interesting with Twilight's message revealing some lore about the what happened between G4 and G5 i thought it was about time the story was given some lore.
And it was good to finally see Sprout again after all this time.
I THINK it makes sense because i think the message cut off before she could say more, we might get the full message by the end of the season

i don't think it was too early, it's a pretty brief message and it comes at the end of the episode. It did the job of inserting mystery and tension with Opal without overstaying it's welcome.

Wait I just realized that aside of marketability cuz normal twi is how most kids remember her. Literally FIM showed us what an Alicorn with drained magic looks like through Luna, Luna was small and the same stature as our ponies when they defeated her as nightmare moon. But before she turned into nightmare moon she was her normal Alicorn height during the flashbacks. So, Twlight said she used almost all of her powers so makes sense she'll revert back to her normal self and why she died. Because as Opaline said, Alicorns are inmortal.

This episode got me to like Hitch again. It shows more of his fears and also his motivation. From the first movie I enjoyed his character and found myself relating to him often then Izzy or any other pony. Then make your mark felt like dropped the ball and it was hard to sit through especially since Hitch wasn't being Hitch. Izzy was more being him than him. Then this episode, yes this is the Hitch. He cares about the citizens and want to defend them to the point of going extreme while trying to understand the power. That's a great way and I am so glad they didn't botch up the ending because it could of easily made it bad. And they continue this so yeah very happy for this.

I was glad that Twilight popped up, cause her message made me wonder if she left more that can only be unraveled the closer they get to be unified through friendship. Plus it seem Zipp was interested in what Twilight was trying to tell them.
That aside, I was concern for Hitch with how he was tackling Magic problems, but glad he had Sunny & Zipp there for him to try & calm down when his fears were getting to him. Plus it seem the crystals pulse snapped him out of it like it brought out his honesty & kindness to awaken him.

As for Hitch and the Crystal, I completely agree! It kinda reminded me of when Buggs Bunny first met the Gremlin as it tried to detonate the blockbuster bomb: Buggs wound up the swing, let her rip, and, just inches before impact he stopped and screamed, "WHAT AM I DOING?!"
It was that classic moment when you think the most drastic measure is the only way to go, only to have a sudden moment of clarity right when you're on the edge of the "point of no return".

Maybe the message was made after Twilight took magic away, including her own? That's maybe why she "degraded" to her regular form. She could've left enough magic in herself in order to make the vision, but most of her god powers were gone.

Twilight is back!!! She revealed how she put the different pony types magic in the crystals to protect it from opaline and used a cloaking spell so opaline had no access to the magic or equestria. When they were united magic returned the cloaking spell broke - that burst of magic that happened before sunny became an alicorn.
But she never mentioned anything about every creatures in Equestria?
I liked Twilight's message, and thought it was muddled at some parts it just means it's something the new ponies have to figure out. Although fans are already voicing complaints as to why Twilight's message is of her in her original alicorn form instead of her form in the Last Problem. Many are speculating it's a different universe compared to the full events of gen 4. But what could be simpler is they chose to use the alicorn form the fandom was used to rather than her final form. And it was nice to see Sprout again. At least we know he wasn't written out of the show completely. Just doing time as a janitor at Canterlogic to make up for his crimes.
I like the theory that this is an alternative universe tbh! It'll make sense to many many questions. But I also feel they just went with the form most kids and people remember twilight and how she's marketed
I feel like twilight’s form in the holograph also explains her stature, as in why she isn’t as big as she was at the end of The Last Problem. If Opaline had taken all the magic, or Twilight had to summon all her magic to create the crystals, it certainly stands to reason part of her alicorn stature would also change.
so i actually think that she is the bigger version in the hologram, if you look at opaline she is much bigger than misty. i think that twilight is actually her bigger self but the way they have animated it makes her look smaller

Pointing out that her appearance is different and contemplating whether or not it could mean something lore wise isn't overthinking, it's entirely normal in a show that's trying to take how the character looks seriously and uses how a character appears visually as a means of showing something lore wise. It's also perfectly okay to be upset if the people working on the show got lazy and retconned the literal main character of G4.
The writers are trying to take the lore too seriously so I will give that energy back to them. If they didn't want lore speculations or high standards for the lore, they shouldn't have made the show lore heavy, a continuation of G4 or try to add onto or retcon the lore at all. I will treat them with the standard they built for themselves. Boo hoo. Stop trying to be quirky and anti-analysis. Lol.

I was surprised at first by how quick the message came but after that it made sense.
We as a watcher already know about Opaline. That part of the plot was not hidden.
Now your heroes have a key information to go with that will also add to the stress of this whole situation. Especially with someone like Hitch who is baisicaly the stallion of a Paladin. He want to protect people but you give him an invisible enemy. Right when he choose not to take away magic.
It tell him , he is right to worry. His sense are great and sharp but it was the wrong culprit.
Ultimately I thinks the reaction to Hitch was pretty much a reflection of the reaction many should have watching the show.
They watch it. It is new yet there is a similar core. They wish that it would be G4 but it is not. However, as Hitch is about to pull the plug. He see that the new magic. This new Generation is there. It is part of this beautiful world now. And we should accept it for what it is.
I really love that this show do mirrors like this. Not to mention that i agree fully with your reaction to Hitch as a character I had the same one. And yes I was so glad it wasn't the "favorite pony sunny " that made a speech to change his mind but that it came from himself. It take courage to face our fears and Hitch showed more courage then many did in ages.

I already watched it the whole season yesterday but what I do want to say about episode 2 was that I was EXTREMELY surprised when we saw Twilight this early but you know it was awesome!! Kind of a minor thing, but it does annoy me that Twilight says that Earth ponies having magic is a new thing when FIM established that they did have magic before. Then again I think FIM forgot that at points of the show.

Honestly I hope twilight is alive, I couldn't see a Mlp series without her kicking around and the more people say she could be dead makes me more sad than hopeful, We can at least factor that magic doesn't make Alicorn Immortality go away since one Opaline is alive, Discord is alive, and the countless times Celestia and Luna have lost there magic to only later be alive. There are factors and the only thing I hope is Twilight being alive.

I had felt that the theme song had a watered-down PowerRanger vibe to it, to the point where it actually reminded me of something else, though I couldn't place it at the time. But during this thought process, the hologram gave me MAJOR Zordon vibes! It would be so cool if the crystal could one day allow the Mane 5 to speak to Twilight directly!
I later determined that the theme song more closely reminded me of PawPatrol; also very PowerRanger-esk, but of a more childish nature.
Ironically, the CG route makes the show feel weaker, despite the more advanced style. And I think I know why: The squash and stretch style of 2-D animation allows for more freedom of movement while this CG animation feels far too solid and realistic, taking away some of the fun. To me, anyway.

I personally was confused on why it was never established if Sunny had the ability to do earth pony magic. Considering she is original an earth pony + an alicorn that’s meant to have all 3 ponies magic?
The fact that she never tried to use the magic herself (with how obsessed she is with it) was odd
"Earth ponies have access to magic for the very first time". Well thats a croc, earth ponies always had access to magic, just not the flashy kind. Remember that one scene in hearthswarming eve where aj picked up a lump of soil and a plant immediately sprouted from it. Or what about that one scen in cutie re-mark where pinky and maud from the sombra alternate future ground a boulder down to pebles in literal seconds with their bare hooves. Their called earth ponies for a reason dog onnit.
Not to mention Aj's super strength and Pinkie can do all sorts of weird stuff.

Earth ponies also boast the greatest physical strength of the 3 tribes (im not counting alicorns sence 5 is too small a sample size) . Hell, earth ponies could probably perform geomancy and swim though the ground like its water with enough training. See this is my biggest problem with g5, whats the point of even making a sequel if you gonna egnore a fundamental peice of lore form your prediseser. G5 shouldn't of been a sequel in the first place.

I think there is more to Twilight's message I think she could be alive, but I think she could be in limbo, and I think the crystals could be the key to finding her.
What I think is there was some sort of power struggle in the past and this opelen Pony used a changeling method divide and conquer to get the magic for herself in which backfired because of Twilight's plan she might have divided the races but they took the three parts of the crystal along with them leaving whatever magic she had possession of
One question I had with Twilight's message was with Twilight's model itself. It's not the older alicorn princess model we see in the far future part of the G4 finale, which implies the message and creation of the Unity Crystals happened between defeating the Evil Three and the future part. However in the future part it's clear magic is still around and all creatures are living together so that can't be right.
I imagine it's just an oversight by the artists or they went for the younger alicorn model because it would be more recognisable to younger fans who may not have seen the finale. Or it is an older alicorn model like Opaline but because the hologram doesn't show her whole body it makes her look shorter than she actually is.
Doesn't stop me enjoying the scene but raised an eyebrow.
What about luster dawn and her friends aren't they stoping opaline? Or the young six or the pillar six even starlight glimmer herself?
Geez, it sure is a breath of fresh air to see Hitch not completely neglecting his job in Chapter 2. Twilight's message has answered the question of what the heck happened somewhat. In terms of opaline, she is kind of a lame villain in many aspects. much more interested in Misty which is what I think they are going for.
When I first saw that episode and her message, I had thought about Opaline, and then Cozy Glow. I'm not sure why, but it sounds like an "o" sound at the end of her name when Twilight mentions who could have tempered with the magic. But that could just be me, because I personally loved Cozy when she was a villain. But that was G4, we have a new villain that we don't know. It wouldn't make sense for Cozy to come back.
If Tara Strong reprises her role as Twilight, what's next? Tabitha St. Germain as Flurry Heart? Britt McKillip as Cadence?
Those two VAs have been in the MLP franchise since G3 (2003 for Tabitha and 2006 for Britt), so it would be cool if they came back for G5. But whether their characters are still alive is another story.

It makes sense for magic to evolve. In Avatar: The Last Airbender, lighting bending was rare, hard to master, and dangerous. In Korra, it's a 9 to 5 that pays the bills. With this, it also makes a whole lot of sense that Opaline wants more of the ever changing magic and why Twilight was so worried. I mean, she could cast spells, fly, and be Poison Ivy.
And not mention that opaline isn't only one who is evil, they're are evil forces out there
This kind of retcons the comics because they learn the same message from Discord while here they learn it from Twilight. So i guess GM Berrow told comics the lore trivia and they did it on their own way. She should had told them that they learn it first from the crystal because now it look like they learned it first from Discord.
I was watching episode 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and finally the last one Episode 8
There are two things I'm personally curious about in this episode. First, when hitch touched the crystal you can see a small wave of energy released from them and then he comes to his senses. But why is that? Second, the tree that grew towards the end of the episode due to their magic being unified. Zipp said it looked familiar but she doesn't know why. Is it possible this could be a new tree of harmony or did Zipp see something in reference towards it from her secret chamber inside the the castle at zephyr heights.

The second episode, unlike the first, actually got me interested in seeing some more. I respect your desire for no spoilers, especially as I still haven’t watched all eight episodes yet-but I have watched the first four.
After I saw the second episode, I wondered why they didn’t start with this one. I’m still not quite seeing what drew me to Friendship is Magic, but I’m willing to give this new show a chance, if for no other reason that I’m curious about these mysteries and teasers myself.
Honestly, when I saw the Twilight Sparkle hologram, I wondered why nopony called her “Princess” Twilight Sparkle. And while this might not actually go anywhere, I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe it WASN’T Twilight at all, but rather Harmony. That possibility was never addressed, so I’m thinking maybe not, but who knows?
I still don’t know if there’s a member of the Mane 5 that I most identify with-not to the extent that I identified with Twilight and Fluttershy in Friendship is Magic-but I’m kind of tentatively leaning towards Zipp, which surprises me.

Wonder what the pony population would think if they saw Twilight's message. I wonder if the magic of the crystals can be released rather than kept in their geode prisms. It makes no sense how Opaline can exist for hundreds of years and nobody has ever heard of her. She's not even legendary like Starswirl, she's completely obscured. I'm glad that the Mane Five's personalities and beings are being preserved. Hitch is quite a serious pony, I wonder when we'll see Izzy at her most serious moment like Pinkie Pie after Twlight stole the Seaponies' pearl.

The voice actor doing Twilight's hologram's voice doesn't really sound like Tara Strong, but the way the recording looks degraded, it makes it easier for me to justify the voice difference as it being an old recording that has degraded and decayed over time, possibly even partially fragmented.
This was an old theory I had, that Opaline was Chrysalis in a new form. Considering how she was shown breaking out at the end of season 10, and that her name means cocoon, I thought maybe the she would molt out of her changeling form into Opaline which would mean the heroes inadvertently giving her a power up. I had discarded this, but considering Opaline's personality it wouldn't be too outlandish a twist.
I thought Chrysalis can only have green magic and the colour doesn't change

A word of caution for those that didn't blow through the entire fresh batch of episodes, spoiler alert skip my comment if you don't want to know. I thought it was awesome to have seen Twilight even if she didn't look like a 3d Alicorn version of herself at the end of G4 season 9 episode 26. The Last Problem, which kind of made me wonder, however Opaline stating that Alicorns are immortal beings that should be treated as gods or something like that had me thinking if they truly are Immortal then where are all the Alicorn princesses? Luna, Celestia, Cadence, Flurry Heart? We can speculate that Twilight herself is probably gone or perhaps not and she'll show up again as something similar to that of Star Swirl the Bearded and his friends, to guide or advise the G5 ponies. Opaline certainly created more questions with what she said and I'm still wondering where she fits in and if she was even in G4 or in a comic or something because she seems to know more than what they show us. Could she be a Nightmare Moon version of Flurry Heart or perhaps another Pony all together that wishes to consume all the magic for herself, as for the 3D animations the voice acting they were all done really well and it was really neat to watch so I will definitely be waiting for future episodes.
I noticed that she mentioned about alicorns being immortal too. Because it was never said in G4 that alicorns were immortal. It must've been something that the writers of G5 added. And it does make me wonder about happened to Twilight, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Flurry Heart. Because nobody has said anything about Twilight being dead or anything. I don't really understand the theory of Opaline being the Nightmare Moon version of Flurry Heart. I've seen it floating, and I don't know how people got that idea.

To me she seams like one of those uptight unicorns who thinks because they have magic they deserve to be worshiped and treated better. Perhaps she started as a unicorn and stole magic until she was an alicorn. Or perhaps she is a decendant of one of the princesses that became corrupted or power hungry

No spoilers, but it feels… boxed in… even after 8 episodes… but I only watched the reviews & the free episode on the “Netflix after school” UA-cam channel.
I’m worried about the series. We still have no answer to if the rest of equestria is suffering pain & I know pain that is not nursed, given help/relief, and left unchecked without friends can lead to revenge… the saying goes “revenge is a confession of pain”, but I know revenge also causes unnecessary chaos & pain on others and is not always the solution!
I was hoping we had answers to what lies beyond now & more than one villain.
I also thought an episode on why & how revenge & vengeance is not always the solution, which I thought could appeal to both G4 & G5 fans alike!
Because if you or someone else is out for revenge, why not is telling anyone or especially a friend the pain that is the source of vengeance better? Especially if you or someone else is just hurting other & making chaos if you are not letting this out, and may find friends & allies you never thought would be wanting to help, heal, and or give you TLC where you never thought you find it!
Realistically, pony-kind should have a bunch of villains from other parts of equestria on their “flanks” wanting to claw-slash, smash, or flame-broil their “flanks” off of equestria, especially if the magic loss did not only affect pony-kind!… But I would love to see an adventure or adventures of the new main 5 out to fix this!!!😮🎉

Twilight appearing was certainly odd to see but I think it works. It sets up some obvious plot treads but keeps room for speculation. At this episode I begun to wonder why is Misty working with Opaline. After all Opaline is clearly manipulating her. But how, and why. If she was or is so powerfull then why does she need a lacky to do the dirty work. I almost want to bet Opaline took Misty from her home as a foal or "Disposed of" The parents and then took Misty under her vary dark wings. Honestly I hope Misty does have some family some where becuse that might (Keyword might) help her in her inevitable face turn. Honestly if it turns out her and Izzy are long lost sisters or Cousins or something I wouldn't mind that. It actually would be quite interesting. (In my option)

i'm kinda hoping the villain is chrysalis herself. Besides any other villain besides a brand new one, she referred the villain as a "her" so it can't be tirek, sombra, or discord. It can't be nightmare moon sense luna's most likely dead. It could also be cozy glow, hunting for the magic again. So the villain could either be a new villain, chrysalis, or cozy glow, but i'd like to believe that it's chrysalis or maybe chrysalis and cozy glow, but the main villain will probably be a new one
