It’s frustrating that this video was 11 minutes and you would probably need another 2 hours to understand all the other buttons on this god forsaken piece of Japanese engineering.
@@davidjoeseph2646 The interface is one of the worst I've ever seen, truly unintuitive. I've given up and gone back to my heating pads for heat and opening the windows for cool. My electric bill decreased because I have the units turned off because I can't figure out how to use it.

Thanks. I bought a house with one of these unit and this controller and it's a little intimating to figure out at first. This video gave me a better understanding.
Thanks so much for the video. It helped me to clear alot of doubts. I appreciate the time and interest you took to do the video. It is especially helpful to retired and elderly people, who are not very sure of the modern day technology.
Hello, not covered by your presentation for the top six buttons but present in the manual is "4-4. SETTING THE INSTALLATION POSITION". The installation position can be set only when all the following conditions are met: 1. The remote controller is powered off. 2. Weekly timer is not set. 3. Weekly timer is not being edited. Hold down WIDE VANE on the remote controller for 2 seconds to enter the position setting mode. Select the target installation position by pressing WIDE VANE. (Each press of the WIDE VANE displays the positions in order of center, right, and left.) Finally press EDIT/SEND SET to complete the position setting. Anyways this was very helpful to hear a clear and calm explanation of what all these mysterious iconographs really mean for the user. Great pacing and overall beautiful presentation. Thanks heaps!
Wow! So helpful. Thanks. Bought a house with this system, unfortunately I can't find user instructions but this video explains a lot in a short concise manner.
I've had my unit installed for four years and learned alot with your video I should have known all along. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Thankyou so much for this video. I thought that my aircon wasn't working properly because my filters needed cleaning. Went to check my filters and it was working fine I just needed to know how to use the remote properly and this video has done but that ☺️
Wonderful video thank you! Does this remote have a backlight? I cannot stand how you can’t read it at night to adjust the temp. There must be a backlight but I cannot figure it out…thank you!
Unfortunately, none of the handheld Mitsubishi remotes we sell have a backlight that we know of. You can reach out to Mitsubishi Customer Care at 1-855-923-3631 to check on remotes that do have a backlight option.
Wow I gotta say that I learned a bit there. I have 2 issues with this remote as designed. Firstly unless you've got 20/20 vision, the snowflake & the sun icon look amazingly similar. Secondly if you're switching fan speeds & modes regularly (like hot days & cool nights) then moving the sliding case up & down several times a day is somewhat annoying.
I hear you about the icons -- they can be confusing, and a bit hard to see. For switching modes/fan regularly, we recommend using the timer settings to program your unit to change the temperature settings automatically. And if you use the "Auto" mode (the 4 arrows in a box) you don't have to switch between heating and cooling modes -- just set the temperature you want. Hope that helps!
Mini splits definitely work but many of them suck at pushing air. I like to feel the air coming out. And don’t always want to use a fan. Is this just the way they all are? I’m considering installing one.
Hi I have a similar but newer model of this Remote an SG20A, is there a way to change the time to display in 24 hour format? Must be hidden somewhere under a menu, but I can't seem to find it. Thanks for posting these videos.
Do these have thermostat issues it seems like ours isn’t coming on when it should like set to 74 and feeling cold , so they have filters that need cleaned, how can I check for making sure the temperature I’m choosing is working the remote doesn’t show the temperature it has a little thermometer looking icon instead of actual temp
Set the temperature for the temperature that you WANT the room to be, and the unit should get your room to that temperature. Lower numbers are cooler, higher numbers are hotter. Keep in mind, though, that you need to have the unit in the code MODE for the season. So make sure the mode is in "heating" mode (the Sun) when it's cold outside and you need heat, and in "cooling" mode (the Snowflake) when it's hot outside and you need cooling. If it's cold in the room and you have it set for "cooling", it's not going to heat the room to 70 degrees F (if that's what you set the temp for, for example). All it would do is turn the unit down low or off because the room doesn't currently need "cooling". OR you could set the mode for "Auto" (the 4 arrows in a box) and it will automatically switch between heating and cooling modes to match your set temperature. Hope that helps!
Hi. Thank you very very much for explaning this things. I have a question. The unit does not blowing cold air enough. I have cleaned out/in units, and filters. Do I have to refill the unit with a gas/freon? Just like the case with cars..... Thanks!

The unit will maintain the temperature it's set to until you use the remote to change it. So the remote does not need to be in close proximity to keep the unit running at the set temperature.
Hopefully you figured this out, but for the benefit of others, you don't "pair" the remote to a wall unit. It's an Infrared remote, so you just point it at the unit and it should work. If you have fresh batteries, and the remote turns on and off while you're pointing it at the wall unit, but the wall unit doesn't turn on and off, you should call for service.
HI there! Just rented a home with these. Can you please tell me how to keep the fan and ac going. Mine is on AC and has 4 bar fan mode, but is not doing anything
Thanks for the great videos. This is probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find a straight answer. These remotes are sending devices only, correct? So If I use a remote from room B to change the settings on the unit in room A, the room A remote will not show the correct settings for unit A. You have to set the temperature using the remote, and you can use the fan controls to control the speed of the unit. The unit will not turn off unless you manually shut it off. If the fan speed is set to Auto, then the fan will decrease to maintain the temperature it's set to, and then pick up when if the temperature changes. Please check out our Advanced Functions video for more control options.
I am going through hell, lol. I don't know what I did, but it's not cooling correctly, may I send u an image of my remote for feedback? Where the temp is showing 72 degrees, there is also the powerful icon in this degrees box, I'm not sure if that's good or bad or how to get ride of it. I would appreciate your help thanks
Can you explain how to adjust the setting for the installation position? How does this differ from the setting for the left-right airflow direction? If my unit is near a wall on the right, what are the best settings for installation position and left-right airflow?
Hi, yesterday I unplugged my unit for about an hour and now it doesn't respond to the remote. They seem to be unpaired. Been looking online for an hour but no success.
When you change a setting on the remote, does the handler beep acknowledging the change? I have a wall unit that does not change the setting (even though it shows the change on the remote) because I have not held the remote in the exact position necessary to read the remote signal. The only way I know that it has not changed is that there is no movement from the handler. This is a pain in the you know what.
Does the remote need to be pointed at the wall unit when changing temperature setting or other settings? There is no indication on the wall unit to confirm the desired temperature for example. In other words, Can the remote and the wall unit be 'out of sync' ?
It's best to point the remote toward the unit you're controlling, as it's an infrared remote (so it needs line-of-sight with the wall unit). The wall unit should beep when you change a setting on the remote -- that's how you know it registered the change.
Hello, we have already answered this question on a different video. As we did not manufacture this remote and have posted this video for our customers and others who find the user manual unhelpful, you will need to contact the Mitsubishi Customer Care line at 1-855-923-3631. Thank you.
If you put the fan on automatic mode, what exactly does that mean? Does it adjust the temperature to what degree I want and automatically go to that and keep it that way? Say I put the fan at 70 and set it to automatic--does that mean that the unit will adjust the room temperature to 70 and keep it that way?
Hello Ben, the automatic mode will adjust the unit's fan speeds to reach the temperature you've set to maximize energy efficiency. If you're still having issues with your remote, we recommend contacting Mitsubishi Customer Care at 1-855-923-3631 for assistance.
I just got this unit. When I have it in cool mode I can’t adjust temp up and down…it’s locked at 67 degrees. It must be locked in a hold mode or something…any thoughts?
Hello Althea, you may want to check that your remote isn't set on a timer setting, as that sets the temperature independent of the normal mode. If that is not the case, we recommend contacting Mitsubishi Customer Care at 1-855-923-3631 for assistance.
31 C is 87.8 F. That's pretty hot for an interior living space, and heat pumps aren't designed to cook you - just keep you comfortably warm. :-) We recommend that you set the temperature for the temp you want it to be in the room (usually around 20 C / 68 F). Since heat pumps draw warm air from the outside air (even if it's cold outside), the airflow is not going to feel "hot" like an electric heater (which uses a LOT of electricity, by the way). So it won't heat the room immediately, but it will get there eventually, and maintain that temperature without using very much electricity, which is why they are so efficient. Hope that helps.
Hi, I was wondering if you might be able to tell me why on cool mode, it never shuts off? Shouldn't it turn off when it reaches the correct temperature? It does not, just stays on. The auto mode doesn't work at all
These inverter-based systems slow down, but generally don't "shut off" unless you turn it off. It uses a small amount of electricity to maintain the current temperature at all times. It doesn't cycle on and off like an old window AC unit. That's why it's so efficient, energy-wise.
No, you would just set the temperature for the temp you want the room to be. You could leave it on 68 F all year round, or adjust that as needed (some people prefer something like 74 in the summer and 66 in the winter because we dress differently in those seasons, for example).
Hold the Temp+ button and press the "Reset" button at the bottom until it resets. Then turn the unit back on, and it should be in C mode. Do the same to go back.

SO helpful.
great explanation
Does the remote have to close to the unit after the mode and temp is set or will the main unit retain the temp setting and run to achieve it
The unit will maintain the temperature it's set to until you use the remote to change it. So the remote does not need to be in close proximity to keep the unit running at the set temperature.
Not sure if anyone will see this but how do you pair the remote to the unit when it needs new batteries? I can't figure it out at all
Hopefully you figured this out, but for the benefit of others, you don't "pair" the remote to a wall unit. It's an Infrared remote, so you just point it at the unit and it should work. So is there a thermostat feature? If I set it to cool or heat it just blasts that temp it never stops
You have to set the temperature using the remote, and you can use the fan controls to control the speed of the unit. The unit will not turn off unless you manually shut it off. If the fan speed is set to Auto, then the fan will decrease to maintain the temperature it's set to, and then pick up when if the temperature changes. What is the highest/hottest maximum temperature? Mine goes up to 31 degrees Celcius. This only gives out warm air not hot.
In the auto system mode is there a way to set a high and low setting for a/c and heat?
No, you would just set the temperature for the temp you want the room to be. You could leave it on 68 F all year round, or adjust that as needed (some people prefer something like 74 in the summer and 66 in the winter because we dress differently in those seasons, for example).
Hi, How can I change the display temperature from F to C
Hold the Temp+ button and press the "Reset" button at the bottom until it resets. Then turn the unit back on, and it should be in C mode. Do the same to go back.
