Likely not from magic mushrooms either but either without any drug or a plant based seed that you can burn and inhale (found in a pouch at some norse womans grave)

afaik only to the point where they considered that a man would need to have a wife to have children as well. most of what we actually know about vikings comes from christian sources so their values being imposed is also something to consider, since many places that were once okay with it now feel very strongly against it just because of christianity, sadly.
