Constructive criticism: -Heartless cancels life steal -Overgorger buffs it’s own attack, life on it is better than attack since it will ramp itself up anyways -Rail beater is a demon which could have benefitted from that doublestrike relic you passed up -a few times you passed up buffing overgorger for free at the end of a level -you cut morsel generation and a torch when you had a train steward left in your deck
The last one is not an issue, cutting atleast one torch and shadesplitter makes your deck thinner than cutting a steward which you can yeet infront of an attack like a dmg shield 1 with consume.
when you cut bad cards you should focus on cards that do not consume (anything except consume spells and units). So that means torches, frozen lances, restoration, shadesplitters. Because as the comment before me mentioned, trash units like the stewards and dregs can still be used as cannon fodder that does not clutter up your deck after playing them.
All good points, and I'd like add that very final round the Void Binding was placed on a dazed Imp in the front, which wasted the Rage and also part of the Damage Shield. It pushed the damage up by ~200 and, while probably not pulling out a win from just that, would have gone lot further on the Overgorger. I think that with just this change and not missing a few Overgorger procs this would have been a close but certain win. Gotta push that needle!

I mean Overgorger, Retch, Feast, 2 Packed Morsels, Shroud Spike, all with ridiculous capacity potential - you almost couldn't ask for a better opportunity.
Colin Harper I have seen NL have runs where everything aligns and has the perfect combs but then always does poor plays. Yet when I play I almost never get the combos just offering them selves to me! Like NL has Dante every other run, yet I’ve never had him!

Life steal and demon multi-strike misplays aside, the mistake that lost the run was your choice of upgrades on Overgorger. You essentially wasted two slots that could have been multi-strike, quick or a chunky health upgrade. That unit has so much potential to pog out of control.
NL don't forget to give the overgorger the remaining morsels in your hand even if you're on the boss and he is going to die. The +2 damage is permanent
NL, I like how you would (usually) play the morsel to get the draw first before playing your cards and running out of ember. Also I'm a big fan of the endless imps for consistent buffs + making consumer of crowns easier to play. One thing you should keep in mind is using morsels as a damage shield. If you have a +3 hp morsel and the enemies are dealing 10 damage in 1 hit, it makes way more sense to play the morsel in front. Especially when you have the heartless buff, where the morsels would have been able to survive anyway. Also, for any units that gain permanent damage over time (overgorger, bounty stalker), I find its best to save 1 upgrade slot to fish for multi-strike.
NL, the comments covered pretty much everything but this (although I’m sure it’s been mentioned before). If you have a path with a unit upgrade shop and a unit to pick up, look at the shop first to see what buffs are available before picking your unit (remember not to buy until after picking up the unit though). If you did this you would have seen the multi strike demon fiend synergy and if you got the multi strike relic as well demon fiend would have pawged up. As a side note, rail beater is more useful as a tank because of the armor, as well as the fact that the damage it does is very low compared to other hell horned units (except imps). You didn’t have enough tanks this run, the multi strike on the final boss countered your imp and morsel body blocks, and with no healing it was fatal.
4:48 This is small brain strats. Big brain strats is playing that Void Binding on your champion this tune and accepting no Ember next turn for 2 damage shield and 6 rage. He was thinking Overgorger instead of Champion. 26:00 Gets the Rage relic, immediately ignores the Race buff card which would totally synergize with Void Binding. Just saying.... 26:29 Put Holdover on Void Binding! Use it on morsel while you are setting up, then switch to using it on your champion to scale before the boss. 27:37 "No reason for Void binding." Be-still my heart! Never a more flagrant lie has ever been spoken!! 31:44 Since you didn't put Holdover on your Void Binding I would have taken a second one here to make them show up more often. 40:55 Furnace Tap is amazing with Void Binding and a Trample Penumbra! Permafrost or cost lowering help.
For reference regarding how armor affects lifesteal (as of a couple weeks ago): If your attack is FULLY blocked by armor, you heal 0. If you deal ANY red heart damage, you heal equal to your attack rating regardless of "damage done". Can't help but feel like this is a bit wonky.
I don't think I would've taken the Heartless relic. Umbra has some underrated healing in lifesteal, which your champion and Overgorger desperately needed. Grrrg's Goad would've been *chef's kiss* for your Consumer of Crowns. I feel the disrespect for emberdrain cards: Void Binding, Furnace Tap, and Immortal Trade. Works well with the Monstrous champion. Call me a madman, but boy I love doublestack or permafrost Furnace Tap. The emberdrain doesn't really matter if all your best cards cost 0. Great episode, brother.

Not that good with monstrous though. Imp-ortant work is good on endless imps (such as welder) so you can stack armor on units and cycling it constantly Thanks for the company

Great video, loving this series NL. Its all a learning experience, and I can see that you've got way better at this game, its fun to see. You kept on underfeeding your overgorger which made me keep yelling at the screen, but its all good - keep it up dude!
NL, Feast triggers will always happen at the end of the first round of endless combat vs a boss. So putting a morsel unit in the middle of a formation wont make it tank a hit. Likewise in regular combat if the morsel can survive all the hits by the enemy formation, there's no reason to not play it at the front because it'll be eaten and taking up capacity anyway. It can tank all that damage for you and still be eaten. Super close run though and fun to watch
Right in the beginning, you could have put the Welder Helper behind the Champion to give him armor, and then killed the Welder Helper with a Torch to make room for a Morsel later.
Love this series and your commentary is gold! :) Also NL: You played ALL the morsels in the last fight BEHIND the overgorger... it would have saved him quite a bit of damage and the morsels would have survived the hits!
Your capacity to always find a novel way to mess up and also making some amazing plays is mesmerizing to me. That's where the pog comes from, you never know how the new monster train video is gonna go, but boi it do be goin places.
I wanted to share a run that I had recently. It was Umbra... something? Doesn't matter because the interesting part is the following: I took the monstrous route (aka Trample) and had one Void Binding from the beginning. I then proceeded to give it doublestack and holdover. I duplicated it twice and took compacity and draw. Now all of the sudden I was able to buff my extremely strong Champion with Damage Shield 4, Rage 12 and - unfortunately - Emerdrain 6 up to three times per turn. It was insanely good and I didn't think at the beginning it would go that well.
I enjoyed all 56 minutes and 17 seconds and liked the video! A tip: On those permanent increase ones like gorger or the shroud, keep an upgrade slot available and wait for a multistrike, the first slot should probably only go to 25 hp you dont have to kick start it with 10 attack.. gorger was already at 165 at the end of the run
NL I'm not sure if you know but welder helper puts armor on the front unit, so sometimes it's useful to put it behind a unit. Like the overgorger. It took me forever to learn, just wanna pass on some wisdom
I can’t believe he went that whole run without realizing the lifesteal was literally useless because if the heartless. I bet with all the morsels he got it would’ve made a big difference too. I think the actual only classes without any heals are the Stygian Guard and the Hellhorned. I avoid taking Heartless on any run other than that combination, especially since there are some good synergies with Pyre regeneration.
Ryan you gotta check that bottom text on cards for sure. That multistrike on demons would have helped Railbeater and any future demons you picked up :O
Hey egghead - you should still be giving your overgorger morsels on the final round against the bosses since the top floor will trigger everything first and you'll get free stacks : )
It's a shame it was basically useless the entire run. I think it's a weird card because you want to get it pogged up, but in this case he just sat eating morsels and maybe picking off 1 enemy
The general plan was somewhat good, but the execution was questionable. After enough failed lifesteal procs completely unnoticed, I started rooting for the winged
putting the 10+ dmg on the only imp that isn't endless, twice  Also lifesteal doesn't help with heartless, the units can't heal. I don't know how much it would've helped on the last fight to consume more health up morsels with the Overgorger, probably not enough to move the needle, but something to consider for the future.
I had a brilliant Helhorned/Waxer deck with Welder Imp with Endless and the upgrade that gives Burnout 1 (and I think the double summon effects artifact), that just rocked with like 150 armour on my champion. Also as I'm sure people pointed out Lifesteal is healing as far as heartless in concerned.
Hey NL, I kinda see retch like a free morsel instead of paying for shade splitter. Love the series!!! Has to be my favorite deck builder with slay the spire coming in close second.
NL: Just wanna tell you my gorge champ story. Morsel master plus morsel maker behind champ, with gorge effects trigger twice. My champ 1 shot final boss.
but can you really 1 shot the final boss with that setup? 9(2(2(12)+3))= +486 damage for final wave 9 is the amount of turns you get in seraph(I don't know the exact this is estimate) first 2 is morsel master's effect second 2 is the artifact effect 3 is the eaten effect damage and 12 is glutton 3 so no you can't one shot him
@@cesarluo1716 gotta remember morselmaster will double all of morsel makers morsels. Also, gorge abilities trigger twice, including champs. So that by itself nearly 900dmg over 9 turns. 12 on gorge, trigger a 2nd time, then times 4 for the morsels created. Then add on the feast and extra morsels summoned and with using the hellhorned spell Onehorn Tome for multi strike on my champ. Yes, it can be done
I feel like at this point NL is trolling on purpose with his relic picks, not taking multistrike? That relic alone makes pretty much every hellhorned unit except for imps pog outta control
I might get hate for this but I'm kinda relieved that our boy lost considering how extremely cursed every moment of this video is. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said though other than maybe you wasted quite a lot of hp not tanking with your morsels since a lot of the time the morsels could take the attack and live to be eaten. He got carried by the trample champion having good base stats but all the misplays caught up with him so he wasn't able to scale well enough.
Damnit, now that I've started playing this game and understand it, this series has become too interesting to fall asleep too!! Can't you be more boring for one NL? My insomnia would thank you...
Every time you put a morsel behind a unit saying "this will take another hit", I just face-palm. No it wont! After the boss' first attack, all the morsels get eaten.

I avoid taking Heartless on any run other than that combination, especially since there are some good synergies with Pyre regeneration.
Ryan you gotta check that bottom text on cards for sure. That multistrike on demons would have helped Railbeater and any future demons you picked up :O
11 hp morsels are great tanks but he keeps playing them behind even when they’re living
Nl seems very clever and smart which he is but he is also very dumb
Morsel: Pog!
NL: Pog!
i waited 36 mins for this
Card type is written at the bottom. Your Railbeater would have benefited by the multistrike artifact.
Does NL still not realize what permanent means?
He keeps ending the last turn with energy, morsels, and an empty overgorger floor...
I'm glad to see the Overgorger finally being utilized. That thing is pog central.
Didnt realize his attack carried over
Few misplays but overall good play and entertaining, almost got the win ! I cried at the end. Good job egg
my mans will complain about not being able to play consumer of crowns while not playing his imps
This episode was just painful to watch.. but I love it anyway..
Hey egghead - you should still be giving your overgorger morsels on the final round against the bosses since the top floor will trigger everything first and you'll get free stacks : )
Seeing the Overgorger pog off makes me a very happy bunny indeed.
It's a shame it was basically useless the entire run. I think it's a weird card because you want to get it pogged up, but in this case he just sat eating morsels and maybe picking off 1 enemy
I had a run with 2 Consumer of Crowns with quick and the trinket that dumps random units in the second floor. That was a good time
I love how he start calling morsel "imp"
NL why did you put the final void binding on the imp instead of the overgorger? Might have won
Your Monster train videos make for excellent drinking games.
The general plan was somewhat good, but the execution was questionable. After enough failed lifesteal procs completely unnoticed, I started rooting for the winged
Sorry for your loss
Dad took little Johnny fishing, caught Honkers in the PogRain.
Heartless lifesteal... i have nothing more to add.
The day NL realizes heartless makes the lifesteal morsel pointless is the day I stop ordering pizza
the final boss also always gets me...
Architect is best umbra hero archetype imo. Allows you to build some insane floors especially in combo with stygian.
putting the 10+ dmg on the only imp that isn't endless, twice
Also lifesteal doesn't help with heartless, the units can't heal. I don't know how much it would've helped on the last fight to consume more health up morsels with the Overgorger, probably not enough to move the needle, but something to consider for the future.
Lovin that lifesteal tho
Heartless means you cant heal. That includes via lifesteal
I'm just happy you learned about lifesteal from this run. Keep putting out the good stuff champ 👌
I'm back boys
Legendary back-log to get through, I can't wait
Great video NL! Just don't let the pog get life steal
Loved this episode.
It hurt when he didn't pick up the demon's get multistrike relic because he didn't know railbeater is a demon
Was very confused when I saw Hellhorned + Awoken in the thumbnail, skipped around and turns out NL just used the wrong thumbnail
All of the presskit thumbnails for MT are Hellhorned/Awaken
@@Northernlion I can imagine that having thumbnails for every combination would be annoying
9(2(2(12)+3))= +486 damage for final wave
9 is the amount of turns you get in seraph(I don't know the exact this is estimate)
first 2 is morsel master's effect
second 2 is the artifact effect
3 is the eaten effect damage
and 12 is glutton 3
so no you can't one shot him
@@cesarluo1716 gotta remember morselmaster will double all of morsel makers morsels.
"We dont have any demons" lmao
Anytime I see a morsel run: 'And on Today's Episode of Snack Train'
he really lost the whole run because he didn't put the consumer of crowns up at front huh
We need a Monster Train/Polar Express cross over. You thought kids going to the North pole was wacky just you wait till they go to hell.
When you have morsels with 15+ HP/Armor, let them tank a hit if it won't even kill them. They will still get eaten and your big unit won't get hurt...
Hey NL, first off love the content! I think you forgot you had heartless which makes it so your life-steal doesn't do anything.
